Just an idea for the canopy, on the side facing the main room why not bring the canopy down flush and on the opposite side put a slim vented grille across the length of the tank for ventilation. You get the benefit of venting without the light leak. Absolutely beautiful build. Clearly so much thought and hard work gone into this. Doesn't matter how much money you have or put into something, its still hard work to plan and build something that is timeless and practical. Kudos to Daniel. Can't wait to see the finished product.
Watching this is like a trip down memory lane. The advantage of being able to essentially build the house around the tank, makes a big difference, and the impact of the end result is so worth the effort. The upside down desk leg idea is possibly the single best decision I made for my build (also borrowed!), and I was lucky that it very nearly bolted straight to my trusses inside the roof cavity. This will be a great build, definitely following 👌
Great job, Daniel . It is very well thought out , take your time getting right the first time. Can wait, too see the final results, and full of fish and coral.
I have a 6ft long by 3ft wide peninsula and it is great to look at from both sides and very good to be able to work on it with no nasty inaccessible places where problems can develop. Great looking scape
Looks great. I cant wait to see it set up and running. Two things I’d suggest would be to reconsider the form play on the bottom. Over time even the moist air will penetrate it break it down. I’d use HDPE sheets or at least scuff and paint the form play with a poly or latex based paint all over it. The other thing I’d suggest would be to install a vented exhaust fan in the ceiling to remove both hot, and moist air in the area above the tank in the lighting area.
Wow! Love that scape. Makes me rethink mine. I love these type of looks with scapes but also like a lot of rock for biological and more space for corals 👌🙌👏✌️
I run a large peninsula as well. In terms of flow from the far end, I mounted gyres upside down from the eurobrace, less obtrusive to look at & you can clean the end panel of glass easily, given there’s no magnets on there. Could be an option here as well
@@ParkersReefI run gyres from underneath the eurobrace as well. It will be interesting to see how Daniel does his ATO. With my peninsular when I turn the wave makers off to feed the level in the tank raises only a fraction at the clear end causing the level in the 200l sump to fall enough for the Tunze ATO to cut in
Great video, love seeing the thought process behind the tank. Could you please ask him, based off our conversation in your video, how he is planning to run a Neptune Apex with an Australian power system? Thanks in advance 🙏
Many thanks! You can track down old Australian power boards, or yoo can run a aftermarket power board that is compatible with Neptune from sentry technology
I love his rock layout, going to be a beautiful tank. Out of the box thinking for his hood eith the gap, could he do an inset vertical lip on the top of the tank that would come off with say an inlay. I mean in terms of the lids already on the market that can have mesh inlays or open and then just have a vertical step up on the insdie lip. The gap he laid out would in my eyes look perfect and that idea would close that gap to stop blow threw etc. just my two cents, guy clearly is not shy of hard work. Beautiful setup
O wow I was thinking about how to lift my future light frame with these sit stand desk parts. (Inspired by you Sam) Apparently you can put them upside down! That solves my design challenge. Do you know which brand his are? Always looking forward to your next video💪🏼
Glad you enjoyed it!! To be honest, most of the sit stand desks are made the same these days, but when looking at one, just make sure it can go upside down without falling out and you’ll be right. Yell out if you have any other questions!
I am thinking of put a CADE Reef S2/P 1200 Peninsula style as a room divider in my lounge room, my floor is very similar to Daniel should i worry about the weight ?
"Attention to details"? I laugh at that kind of stuff. All this is achieved with money, as simple as that, and it is clear that our friend Daniel has a lot. Blood, sweat and tears? You forget the most important thing you need for a project like this: MONEY
The standing desk mod for the lights is brilliant!!
Yeah they work an absolute treat 10/10 would recommend!!!

Yeah not a bad idea at all! Will see what Daniel comes up with and visit again in a couple months once things are wet :)
Love this idea Liam and it actually aligns with my current thinking. Canopy will definitely come down to the tank with some for or ventilation.

It’s so awesome being able to move your lights up out of the way! Glad you enjoyed the video :)
Great work - definitely don't love the idea of the floating canopy due to the escaping light, but this project is amazing!
It’s just a thought that Daniel has been kicking around, def not the final design!

Thanks mate!

If you have the right space for it , peninsula is absolutely the way to go!!

Appreciate the suggestions!
Love those style of scapes! Great video ❤
Yep they sure look a treat!
Awesome scape, thanks for sharing and thanks for the video Sam
Thank you!!!

Love that scape. Awesome
Looks incredible hey!
Great looking build mate. The mp40s on the viewing end will look horrible though. I’d go a gyre or Nero style pumps.
Yep fair call too. I reckon once Daniel gets them mounted he might think the same

240V UK version powerboards with adaptors.

Cheers mate!!

Put the sump in the “fish room” n leave the tank on aluminium stand
Would look pretty cool hey?!

I would absolutely have an engineer review it with a realistic weight in mind
If your subfloor is a concrete slab probably be ok but if footings and floor joists definitely check.
do you know where he got those tanks from?
It’s mentioned in the video, Aqua professional built them :)
@@ParkersReef I meant the water storage tanks in the garage
@ajpro2666 I think it’s from www.melro.com.au/water-tanks
People in plastics have them 265L
Im American and have to go online and convert mm to inches to know what the dimensions are 😂
Haha that’s ok, we do the same the other way some time 😅

No one said the hobby is free. But to think Daniel hasn’t put a lot of work into this is just laughable.
Ahhhh after zooming in, that looks like the homes of many chromis. Chromis love hiding away in those types of rocks. Awesome stuff!
Yes you bet, they’ll look amazing in there!
Does anyone know the name of the aqua scape rock
Yeah I think it’s real reef branch rock I’m pretty sure
