It's amazing the amount of life you bring out in the music you analyze. Your break down shows the absurd amount of talent that goes into making a song. Absolutely love it.
It is Dave on drums. Recorded this album and did a short tour with QOTSA. You guys should check out Them Crooked Vultures. Josh from Queens, Dave G on Drums and John Paul Jones on bass!
Please do more of these. This is literally the point of my tribute project. Understanding things to this degree. Seeing them live completely blew my mind. Yes, they are that tight. And the soundscape is just unreal. Josh’s rig is so insane on this tour.
First time watcher and I finally found a group of people that understand the impact of sounds/music. Some ppl are tactile, I'm really auditory. Not sure if that's the term but you get it. I love how they add fx for every single little thing. Sensory overload in the best way.
OK. Ten minutes in and I'm subscribed. I've been listening to this track for decades now. Probably over a thousand times and I am almost in tears by how much you've uncovered AND how much you all appreciate it. This is just fantastic. And to dude in the back....that's what heaven would be for me, too.
apparently Dave recorded the drum and cymbals separately to have maximum isolation in the mixing process- if he recorded drums he'd put pads where the cymbals were and if he recorded cymbals, he'd put pads where the drums were supposed to be. This let him play the parts more or less normally and record them one at a time without the noises bleeding into each other
Awesome episode! Once again, I'm hearing things I've never heard before, and finding out answers to things I've wondered about since first hearing "No One Knows" on Guitar Hero. This channel rocks!
The original version had flute wayy more in the front and also had brass as well. if you look up demos for the deaf you can find it. Alain Johannes played the flute
I've been watching this channel non stop since I found it couple weeks ago, and this episode is another awesome job. Could some of these whispers and backing vocals be Mark Lanegan? He had joined QOTSA in 2001. You guys should do A Song for the Dead - it's another masterpiece from QOTSA. Keep up the great work!!!
Thank you so much! I don’t know if it’s Mark or not maybe someone else can chime in here? We love doing this we are amazed and overjoyed every single time. Thank you for watching!
Drums aren't 'fixed" the intro swings, the verse gets lopsided if you listen close. James Brown says everybody is playing a drum, thats happening here, those hit and grab guitar parts are wonderful and an odd tuning. Maybe Josh and Dave are the only players on this. Vocal is Chris Cornelly. I love Deep!!
Nick added so much creativity to the bass lines.
Yes! Agreed!!!
underrated channel. Love analysis on these stems. Awesome job as usual
Much appreciated! Thank you! We DO have fun and are genuinely amazed. Thank you for riding with us.
I second to this.

Thank you so much for watching and commenting! We are truly amazed by what we find.

AMAZING!!!
I was lucky enough to see DG on drums with QOTSA at Glastonbury. It was awesome.
He didn't play drums on every song on the record

Welcome aboard! Thank you!!!
It freaks us out EVERY. DAMN. TIME.

That’s awesome! Thanks!🤟🏼
Yep. Recorded drums and cymbals in different takes.
You'd never know though. Great mix!
Was curious why you can hear kick and snare with the cymbals in the OH since they were recorded separately. Maybe it’s a combination of each take?
@@harrisonmackenzie not sure, they may have had overhead microphones set up for both the drums and cymbals
Nice work. Needs more views.
Thanks!!!
after seeing them live I 100% believe them being this tight on the recording, they're all real pros
AGREED!!! They’re absolutely incredible. Thanks!!!

that flute is crazy never knew that wow
Right?!? It’s crazy.
Amazing..How to know everything, and also nothing about the sound at the same moment. Great work gents !
Glad you enjoyed it! This is the BEST comment EVER! Thanks.
This channel is killer. First time landing here. Pretty bad ass and I love it! Good shit guys!
THANKS!!!
As soon as I heard the bass i thought Calta would love this
Yes! It’s BEASTLY!
Thank you!!!!
You are welcome thank you for watching!
Dude in the back literally sounds and even slightly looks like Rowdy Piper. Maybe it’s the shades 🤘😎. Awesome content!
ROWDY RODDY’S ILLEGITIMATE CHILD!!!
The snare drum tone sounds like when you use a Remo Silentstroke on the batter head and all you hear is the snares and reso head.
Whoa! DEEP!!!
Queens of the Stone Age are beyond tremendous, they just don’t miss. Josh Homme the 🐐 for real 🤘🏽
AGREED!!! He’s a badass!
Can you guys isolate Deftones' Digital Bath? I find Chino's best vocal performance and the groove is amazing.
We will look for it! Thanks🤘🏼

Can you please do entire QOTSA albums?
What a dream that would be!
😍
This song got Hot Snakes vibe
Please explain so we can check it out!
@deepinsidethemusic check their albums Audit In Progress and Suicide Invoice
The whisper vocal sounds like Dave to me
Maybe?!? Hmmm. We wonder.
The whispers are definenitly Nick.
It just almost sounds like Mr. Blue Sky...ELO?
A wee bit!?! Thanks!
