If you're like me then you wonder why no one seems to make a trailer hitch for our 1949-1951 Ford cars. So today I show you how I built my own.
Now, I have to put out a HUGE caveat; I fabbed my own from using a universal hitch kit and some steel materials I have.
Building your own hitch requires confidence in your fabrication skills or the skills of someone else. You accept your own liability for these kind of custom projects.
With that said, I built mine and intend to use it as a Class 1 hitch in most instances, with the occasional Class 2 type of small tow situation. The steering and brakes of these cars (in factory form) are not built to tow, especially at modern speeds.
    Here's what I used:
    Reese Multifit hitch- amzn.to/3fD1Wzr
    Allen Sports bike rack- amzn.to/3DEDmGd

What I use to film my videos:
    Cameras:
    Sony A6600: amzn.to/3dwB0QG
    Sony A6000: amzn.to/3dzODic
    Lenses:
    Sigma 16mm prime: amzn.to/3BxFFtL
    25mm prime: amzn.to/3UsX13y
    Kit lens: amzn.to/3BDs7N9

Think it could handle a smaller teardrop trailer? I've got a 51 shoebox and we're looking at the 13-15ft trailers in the 1500-2000lb curb weight range

Sorry about the super late reply. I'm not sure I could comment since I don't know the camper size and weight, or how the hitch would be fabricated by someone else.
In my case, I hauled my pop-up camper behind my shoebox. I do have a modern drivetrain and an S10 front clip (disc brakes and modern steering).
So there's some factors to consider.
