The key to not having to “fight” so hard is to do a BDD claim 180 prior to separating from active duty. Got a letter in mail saying I’m 100% P&T one week after I uploaded my DD214. My heart rate was through the roof lol
I put in my bdd claim a little over a month ago. It’s still sitting in review status but I do not get out until August. Will I still have to go to medical appointments before they make a decision or do they make a decision when your dd214 is put in?
Try doing that when you have shitty leadership putting you on missions even 3 months from your ETS. Yes I did CQ on my very last day too. Be grateful you had such opportunities and don’t criticize others who didn’t.
Life has been so much better getting compensation. When I first got out I didn’t claim shit. I been deployed three times in 9years. My life was miserable, talked to another veteran and it changed my life. I told myself I’m getting everything I earned. The process took me within a year 0-100. I got permanent two years ago. I thought it was a reduction letter 😅 I’ve been living off my disability but I have three kids, so I need another source of income. Other than that no complaints

I want to replace him...I need someone to review my medical records. 1 should I get a copy of my records from seen visits by VA and should I go ahead and file for rate increase or TDIU. With the VA, a service-connected status is not protected until 10 years. Meaning, the VA can change any rating from service-connected to non service-connected before that 10-year mark. A rating percentage is not protected until the 20 year mark. A 100% P&T rating means that all of your disabilities are considered static, and unlikely to improve. This means that you will not have Routine Future Examinations for your conditions. However, as you mentioned in your video, opening up a new claim will also open your previous rating up to a review and your percentage can be lowered. There are also a few other reasons why your rating may be reviewed/lowered. There are quite a few Facebook groups dedicated to VA disability. A lot of the admins and mods work as VSOs or work for the VA. I'd encourage anyone with questions to join those groups. Hope you're all well!
Would you happen to know what they mean by the 55 year old rule means . I’m 56 right now and only been receiving my disability pay for maybe a yr now . I’m at 30% does this mean they can’t reevaluate me
Be careful what you say VA is listening, so don’t say I’m doing alright say I’m doing alright today. I once got reduced because a Doctor ask how you doing I said I’m doing alright thinking he was talking about the day so I learned. I’m 100 Permanent and Total but they can reduced you still , You are safe after being rated 100% permanent and Total for 20 years and over the age of 55 . I have been rated 100% for 20 years and I’m 56 . You can apply for Social Security Disability as well
Good stuff here & congrats on reaching 100!!! Zero to 100% P&T in 10 months for myself, If its in the records its alot better for sure!!! Remember secondary conditions are add ons that can be awarded to you to get to the Top!!! Keep your status around people....ya know how some are lol....

My QTC C&P Doctor has been really cool and helpful both times I went for an exam. The only trouble I've had is with the VA examiners themselves. Even my regular VA doctors are helpful.
All I care about is if you signed up for military service and did your absolute best. Because that will help us both. I think you know the system isn't gonna like that. What I'm recommending is that we operate like a seal team, because you know things could get messy.

I’m happy it worked out for you brother, I just retired & I’ve been through 3 vso’s, not one of them was worth a damn, & I’m saying it in the nicest way I can, poorly trained, can’t answer basic questions, don’t return emails or phone calls, the one that actually answered promptly was when I tagged their boss & bosses boss in an email. I understand these people are busy & support a huge base, but when you tell me you don’t know what the CFR is “because you only been doing the job for a year” REALLY!? Did that just come out of your mouth? Idk what half the people around me are talking about when they say their VSO’s were “awesome” and it was a breeze? Seriously where at? Because in my mind it sounds like lies to me, atleast anyone saying that in my area. The process has sucked, horribly & have been forced to do 99% of the leg work myself, basically doing the job some of them are paid to do. My only thing with 100% testimonials for some, is cut the BS, and tell it like it is. To anyone reading this, preparing to file a claim, alot of these vso’s are crap, don’t get caught up in bs about how much of a breeze your claim is going to be, because more than likely it may not and you will have to shop around a while if you don’t do it yourself. Lastly, I spent the bulk of my career helping & trying to do right by people, and because of my experiences with vso’s I’m going to help in a different way, as in getting these worthless untrained VSO’s fired & out of the system, I’ve already filed a report against one of them because he probably wouldn’t even know his name if it wasn’t on his name tag, I spoke to several people who went through this person, they received almost no help, communication and 2 basically had their claims ruined by this individual, enough that they re-filed with another, one received 90 & the other 100% after both initially receiving 50 & less. I’m going to help by identifying and uprooting these people who most likely do what they do because they want to hide, be lazy & collect a check. Not on my watch if I get word of these people, and I don’t understand why more veterans don’t share information on who they dealt with & their experiences, it would definitely help in building a great web of support as well as highlighting people that are not knowledgeable or proficient in their duties.
Sorry for my last message which I screwed up and sent before I was finished. I'll try again. You are correct by advising to go to medical for any injury or illness. I served during VN war and it was discouraged to "complain", but don't let that stop you. I was injured during an explosion aboard my ship. I didn't think I was injured bad but I was a senior at medical. After I got out I began having different medical problems. The VA turned down any possible claims. I was awarded 10%. I appealed and went to a VA hearing in Washington DC. After a few months theVA hearing officer order that my case be reviewed. Eventually I went from 10% to 100% permanent and total in one jump. So don't give up. I had the DAV help me with paperwork etc. So I agree completely DO NOT give up and have one of the service organizations or an attorney help you. I apologize for such a long comment but I am passionate about vets getting what they deserve. Good Luck in all areas to all vets.

I'm a 100% P&T with SMC(L) Aid and Attendance. I was surprised also. I was just expecting at least a 70% but I got the 100% P&T. I didn't even know I was P&T or what it even meant until about 2 weeks later. And then I had 3 years backpay with it and it was great to receive that 100K and some all in one payment. I am definitely blessed by having my future taken care of through my disabities from the VA. I have nothing to complain about so far. God bless and take care my brother. God bless.
How long did your process take ? And when did you file ?
@@cartiercayy2709 My claim took a little more than a year after I filed in May of 2016. I also sent in all my civilian health records where it showed I was also diagnosed by them with PTSD. Then the VA misfiled all of my records that I sent in and that took months to correct. I had my C&P Exam in Mexico City because I had already move here to MX. I had more than enough evidence which included several Mental Health hospitalizations during Active Duty and after discharge. It was finally done in November of 2017.

Just got with a DAV today to help with claims and denied claims from the past… mainly help for my ptsd from Operation Enduring Freedom… hope I have success
For me I was first awarded 80 percent and when I did my claim in the beginning I said I had plantar fasciitis but I didn’t mention I have flat feet. The lady I saw was kinda rude but she documented stuff I didn’t know I have. She said I have the worse flat feet she ever seen and said not even physical therapy can help me. She made me do X-rays and mentioned the allergies and sinuses infections I have since integer had those before. 2 months later I was shocked to see backpay and I was thinking what was this for. A week later I got my 100 percent P&T letter in the mail and I was so thankful and still am.

I once got reduced because a Doctor ask how you doing I said I’m doing alright thinking he was talking about the day so I learned.
Congratulations my brother. They also cover student loans if you have them if you are 100% P&T.
