Alissa did both clean and harsh vocals in The Agonist. For a great example see her joining on Kamelot's music video for Liar, Liar. Also Kamelot live Sacremony with Tommy and Elize. Finally one of my favorites is her with Powerwulf and Demons are a Girl's Best Friend. Alissa channeling her Evil Queen, amazing costumes and incredible production.

If you want to check out a live track, there are several. They had a big production at Wacken 2016 that's very popular. I like the Bloodstained Cross and the Dead Eyes See No Future performances the most, but the Nemesis/War Eternal ones are more viewed on youtube. Alissa also had a great performance at Summer Breeze 2018 with First Day In Hell. 🤘😈
As for Angela live tracks, you have to go with Tyrants of The Rising Sun in Japan 2008. Standout tracks: Enemy Within, Ravenous, Nemesis, Blood On Your Hands.🤘😈

Angela managed Arch Enemy for several years before she stepped down. She wanted to start a family.

AE has a signature sound that no other band has. The guitars are restrained but very refined. The music is always about feel, not speed or technical playing. No one is showing off. The signature vocals are always heavier than, or as heavy as the instrumentals. This is veeery different from other bands that let the vocals be softer most of the time. In AE they're never softer.
Alissa can sing but she doesn't want to sing in AE unless it's necessary. It's to stay true to their 25y old legacy and big fanbase. She sings in other projects. She used to be very famous for her clean voice but after harnessing her inner demon for over 8 years in Arch Enemy, she's risen from Delicate Angel to Angel of Destruction!
She's a lot taller than Angela. By about 8-10cm. She only looks small next to the guys but she's quite big next to many girls. So she can go low on the growls. Lower than on the albums. She saves the best vocals for live shows.

Alissa can sing, and does it very well. But i don't think I've heard her sing clear style in this band, but she has been in few songs where she features and mainly growls in those too. But has few bars of clear vocals as well.

This track is raw and thrashy, the other track is more melodic and epic. You hit the nail on the head. This is LIVE MUSIC. I think when Jeff Loomis - that blonde guy, (ex-Nevermore, one of my favorite bands, ever) joined Arch Enemy (after the death of Warrel Dane, NEVERMORE vocalist), they started playing a little differently, more aggressively. I like Arch Enemy but now I like them even more. At times it reminds me of this track in the style of AT THE GATES.

Hey Jacqueline, before Alyssa was front woman for Arch Enemy, she's also been touring together with Elize Ryd (now Amaranth) and with Kamelot. in 2012, Kamelot and the 2 girls were tourning with Nightwish - one night they covered for then NW front singer: Anette Olzon - this happened just before Floor was asked to come to the US and replace Anette Olzon for the rest of the tour. So, Floor, Alyssa and Elize are good friends. Alyssa (and Elyze, and Simone Simons) has been featured more times on Kamelot album and live in concert. Alyssa is also featured with Within Temptation. Yes, she can sing pure vocals too.
Alissa is really good… but Angelas raw power is outstanding…

Talking about beautiful women singers who growl. Wait till you come across Butcher Babies. Maybe not as hard or popular as AE. But they def have the looks/vocals. In fact Heidi did a feature on Infected Rains newest single/song. "Realm of Chaos"

It's not the same kind of metal with The Agonist (Mix of clean & scream voices) & i was also shock like you with her voice .
I was already a Death Metal fan but my interest in growler's kind of started with front-women vocalists, but specially with her.
The Agonist is one of the great local band that we have form Montreal. At first i was sad when she joined AE, but they are all stunning in there own way & finally i can say that enjoy both bands replacements. I feel privileged to have seen 3 times The Agonist live, once with Alissa & twice with Vicky Psarakis. Also 3 times for Arch Enemy, once with Angela & twice with Alissa.
So now i need to suggest my favorite Metal Queen, Roxana Bouchard from Your Last Wish.
It's a Melodic Brutal Death Metal band also from Montreal. They have some songs in English & others in French.
There last album, Eradicate been released in the same time than the Covid.& helped me so mush.
It's an other kind of Healing than Nightwish; it's Your Last Wish !!! 😍😍🤘🤘🤯🤯

My one gripe with Arch Enemy is that they got Jeff Loomis from Nevermore, and then never use his talent. He just does these little small solos and then blends back into the background. His solo work is at such a high level of mastery that its just such a shame. Please react to some old Nevermore, JVB ! React to 'The River Dragon has Come' or 'The Sorrowed Man' ( a great song that never gets its time in the sunlight )

Jeff is a bit nervous to mess up their sound I think. His predecessor Nick Cordle cowrote nearly all the songs on War Eternal, and he was only in the band for 2 years. I'd like for Jeff to try and write some Arch Enemy. I'd love to hear it. 8 tracks are still unreleased. Let's see. Fingers crossed! 🤞 Here's what guitarworld wrote on Will to Power 2017.
_Amott wrote four other full songs in Mexico, then flew back to Sweden and, between gigs, continued writing in his home studio. At one point, he asked Loomis-who was the primary songwriter in Nevermore-if he had any songs to contribute and Loomis was almost ashamed to admit he hadn’t written anything._
_“When they started writing, the album came together really fast,” Loomis says. “I did submit three songs, but I think I might have missed the deadline. I feel really bad about that, but at the same time, I didn’t want to be the new guy coming in saying, ‘Okay, here’s a bunch of new songs I wrote. Let’s go record them.’ So I only did those three and honestly, I don’t think they were in the Arch Enemy style.”_

I really aprishiate Alissa, she is really good and I am not saying that Angela is better because we all have different tastes in music and vocals but when I heard Arch enemy with Angela for the first time I thought my brain will melt from eargasm, I think she is even better live than on the studio records if thats even possible. I recommend Nemesis, We will rise, Burning angel, Ravenous, Dead eyes see no future, Silverwing... live from Japan 2008 and Under black flag we march live Sao Paulo 2012... These are the first ones that came to my mind but I think it will do 🤣 🤟🤟🍻🍻

These guys are very experienced musicians, so everything they publish is well thought, quality stuff. With this song they took step back to their roots and influences of hardcore punk and trash/speed metal. Alissa does sing and very well.
