i was lucky enough to see Arch Enemy with Angela Gossow live opening for Slayer, they KILLED live! nothing against Alissa but Angela was SO MUCH better a front woman, Alissa has great cleans, but wasted in Arch Enemy, i understand cleans aren't AE's thing, and wouldn't want to hear them in an AE song, but maybe i'm saying she should be in a diff. band. but i get it, AE is an established band with a huge fanbase, long before she got the gig.
Nah, November's Ruin. Canadian all female death metal band, 2 demos 92. There was also a Turkish all women black metal band from 91/92. Women doing harsh vocals goes back before Angela Gossaw in metal (punk and hardcore its gonna be even earlier)
The energy in that show…… Angela is the OG that commands even tho she doesn’t need to. Coupled with AE’s guitar and vocal hooks, they are one of the greats that nobody can hate on or not bang to. 🤘 I was blown away when first seeing the Japanese fans passion, they are only really rivaled by South America (reference Megadeth Symphony of Destruction Live in Argentina)
Alissa is such a powerhouse - her screams are great here, and she has incredible diction which I really appreciate since if the lyrics are worth writing they are worth hearing and I admit I struggle a lot with some screamers (her predecessor, Angela Gossow is the same - sounds like an absolute beast, but a very well spoken one!) As well as a scream toolkit, with lots of flexibility for texture and mood adjustment, Alissa has a gorgeous clean voice and it does work well on the occasions she uses both as the contrast makes for such a fascinating soundscape.
Angela's growls are very different from Alissa's, but both have such good pronouncing that you hear every word very well. And i think Arch Enemy fans took Alkssa as their 'ew Lead vocalist because Angela hand picked and trained her to sing their songs like she does.
8:24 Arch Enemy´s lead guitarist Michael Amott said last year during an Instagram series for the band´s 25th anniversary that 'The Eagle Flies Alone' became like an athem for the band and the fans
Can't wait for this reaction. Many woman in metal right now but Alissa is on a whole different level. My personal queen. I hope in the future you give some thought to reacting to AE's brand new song Handshake with Hell as it really shows off the vocal prowess that Alissa possesses.
I love this song. Back in 2017 this song and the album it's from, 'Will to Power' first got me into Arch Enemy. Alyssa is a metal goddess and the boys are all excellent too. I've seen them live here in Australia too which was nothing short of a miracle. That was awesome ! Make sure you check out their latest releases too Aileen. Cheers.
Seeing that smile creep across your face when she started singing was priceless. You have such an infectious smile. You had me smiling too. Bless your sweet heart for loving metal. The world needs more ladies like you! Now, Arch Enemy!!! I love this band. This is some great melodic Swedish death metal! Please go back to some earlier AE with their prior singer, Angela Gossow. You're going to love her too. And during much of her time in the band, the band had brothers playing the two lead guitars and they would pass solos back and forth like crazy. One of the brothers is still with the band. I think the other one came back for a short time, but I can't remember which albums. I need to brush up on their history again. Some great tracks to start you off would be Nemesis, Ravenous, and Enemy Within. If you want to see how awesome they are live check for any of the live versions I mentioned from their Tokyo show from '08. You can see their audience interaction, the energy is palpable. On the live Nemesis song the audience sings back the guitar harmony! It's awesome. You'll love it, and you can infect us with your smile again. Everyone wins! Lol
You ought to check out Ne Obliviscaris - And Plague Flowers The Kaleidoscope (Live in Colorado 2016). Six of the most incredible musicians you'll ever lay eyes on. Clean singing, harsh vocals, a violin, insane drummer, bassist, two guitar players. Magic made into sound.
AWG is the queen of metal. Period. Saw AE many times in the Angela days but AE reached a new level with AWG in my book. Also a true inspiration outside of music. New Handshake with hell is epic. Cheers from Sweden.
Thanks for reacting my favorite band! Twin guitars and them playing melodies behind harsh vocals is this band's trademark. Song by song you can find awesome powerful riffs and beautiful melodies. That been said you wont be disappointed what ever song you pick from them. Please do some more, I'll be waiting. Have a great new week!
Amazing reaction!! I love watching someone enjoy music as much as you do! Arch Enemy has a new album coming out in a few months but they have released some singles that I know you'll love too! Deceiver Deceiver, House of Glass, Handshake With Hell. Those are there 3 singles from their new album they've come out with so far. Those are in order of release too(most recent being the last one- Handshake From Hell!) You're channel is one of my favourites and I always enjoy your videos so thank you so much for what you do ❤🤘
Just experienced Arch Enemy live for the first time a couple of months back, went alone since noone in my friend group wanted to come with me even though I had another ticket, so it would have been fre, but despite that it was a wonderful experience I will cherish for many years to come.
Her clean voice is also awesome. I think The Agonist was her old band For softer music you should try The Broken View and their Breaking the Habit cover
Welcome to the great workd of Swedish Metal! Yes, to all from other countries, there are incredible bands from almost all countries, but sweden is actually one of the biggest in this and many other genres inspite of Sweden being a pretty small country. With Arch Enemy you opened the door to the ”Gothenbourg sound” in melodic Dearh Metal. Göteborg, Gothenbourgh, is Sweddens second largest city and houses alot of big metal acts internationally. Arch Enemy being one of the bigger since the start in 1995. You also opened the door to female metal power for eeal. Alissa White-Gluz is tge second female lead singer in AE. From Canada. Amazing voice skills, which you will find if you look at the new videos from AE. I recommend you go back to see where the band came from. See the video for Nemesis first. With the first female singer Angela Gossow. Then see ”Deceiver, Deceiver”, ”House Of Mirrors” and ”Handshake with hell” in that order. You will that way unfold Alissas abilities the best way I think! You should learn guttural too! You would then crush ss a lead in a metal act! Hehe! Stay Metal! 🤘😎🤘
I first came across Arch Enemy when War Eternal dropped in 2014 (so that is one of my FAVORITE songs by them, just because it was my first. Their older stuff is GREAT, too!). That was the first album (and song with the same name) where Alissa had taken over as Front and Lead Vocalist from Angela. Angela personally hand-picked Alissa to replace her, so there is no bad blood between them. Angela is now part of the Management team for the band. OF COURSE there were normal auditions for the position but once the guys heard Alissa, she just never left. Obviously they trusted Angela, they know that she knew what she was doing when she picked Alissa. Alissa had been in love with the band since she was in middle school (Arch Enemy has been around for a LONG time! [1996]). She was in other bands and guested on still more bands' songs and live performances. But I really think that Arch Enemy has always been one of her end goals. Imagine, a childhood fantasy come true! That is one hell of a thing to tick off the bucket list! Just TOO AWESOME! And of course, no doubt at all that she WORKED for it for YEARS!
Before she entered Arch Enemy, she used to sing in a band called The Agonist. Check the music "Thank You Pain" from them, she alternates between screen and clean vocals so perfectly.
Yes, you GOT TO check out their newest Single "Handshake with Hell." She uses 3 different types of clean vocals in it, along with her scream of course. And the last two clean styles are very heavenly sounding and the backdrop in the video for these parts is very fitting for the vocals.
If you want to hear more of her cleans you should definitely check out the band she was in before she was in Arch Enemy, The Agonist, there are quite a few songs from them where she goes from near operatic clean vocals into almost gutturals effortlessly, it's amazing! I recommend "And Their Eulogies Sang Me To Sleep", not only is it my favorite song by them, but it shows her range pretty well :) Loving the diversity in bands in your reactions! Keep it up!
Great reaction! 😎👍 yeah they are very talented and i mean the whole band. Arch E is probably one of the most famous Melodic Death metal bands out there. They mix awesome riffs and dolls with melodic guitars in the chorus. Nemesis, Bloodstained Cross, No More Regrets, The World is Yours and Under the black flags are other good songs by them. I have subbed to your channel 🙂
The guitar work is killer mike formed this band after he left Carcass and Jeff the blond guitarist was in Nevermore you should check out their stuff as well
You have to react to their former singer Angela Gossow. She is now the manager of Arch Enemy. „Nemesis“ live in Tokyo or „My Apocalypse“ show the raw power of Angela. By the way… I think all screaming women nowadays are influenced by Angela Gossow
I love Alyssa but my erra of Arch Enemy will always be with Angela. She had way much more intensity and was so visceral. Nemesis, We Will Rise, and My Apocalypse are some great ones to check out with Angela.
There’s an mtv Canada show that has Alissa teaching a high school girl to scream for a battle of the bands or something. It’s pretty old but it’s a fun watch. I’m pretty sure Alissa was still in The Agonist
Great reaction i really liked it.Next time i believe you are going to enjoy more if you choose a song that she uses a combination of her clean and growling vocals.
imo alissa is one of the most flexible and versatile female vocalist of all time .she can do cleans (handshake w/ hell )cleans mixed with screams (avalanche and reason to believe live )low gutteral (and their eulogies sang me to sleep )high pitched ( first day in hell live )operatic ( liar ,liar ) black metal ish ( demons are a girls beatfriend )
Have you ever heard a mixture of Ska, Polka, Metal and a hint of Reggae? And all this by one band and everything in one song? And lyrics in German/Russian/English - also in one song? No? -> Russkaja from Vienna/Austria So cool, so hot such great musicians and people. They create such a great atmosphere live with an overdose of energy 🤘 A good video / song for a first experience: "Energia" // Live 2018 // A38 World I met / shot them twice and had so much fun with them.
I will suggest Nemesis at Wacken 2016, or their new release Handshake With Hell, she sings with her fry screams and clean vocals. That will show you her full range.
Please listen to their work before 2014 with Angela. Shes a beast and Alissa had som big shoes to fill. She does that but Angela is a demon! The day you died live in japan 2008 or Nemesis live in Japan 2008 vs live at Wacken 2016
Alissa also sang on the Nighwish gig in Denver 2012 when Anette got sick. If you want to know more, check this collection of fan videos from that gig and clips from Nightwish documentary "Please learn the setlist in 48 hours" which tells the story about how Floor joined the band on very short notice. ruclips.net/video/zH33rNy33iU/видео.html
BTW Aileensenpai, during this stream i forgot to mention that Alissa did a cover on Powerwolf's Diamonds are the girls nest friend. Check that out too. Original isn't nearly as goos IMO.
That's why it pisses me off that's there women who don't understand metal say metal is sexist... Theres many metal bands with female leads that are fucking God-tier level amazing and Arch Enemy is one of those bands and the lead singer is a certified Goddess of Metal.
Arch Enemy has some great stuff. You should definitely check out there new song 'Handshake With Hell'. Alyssa is a great singer and the first woman I heard who does growls like this.
Great reaction! Arch Enemy is one of my favorite bands. Alissa is a very good vocalist, but I'd suggest checking out an older song of theirs; Ravenous (Live in Tokyo 2008). It features their old singer, Angela Gossow, and she is a brutal goddess in metal. I much preferred her to Alissa.
If you like Alyssa's badass vocals, you should check out some of the music from Arch Enemy with her predecessor Angela Gossow. She is a total beast of a vocalist
Speaking for pretty much everyone, I hope AWG has the same influence on fashion as Madonna did in the 1980s. There. I said it. Also why would you have kids with anyone who had no #MomVoice?! Do you want to have to reason with them? No. Terror is how they learn to respect Mom. AWG is also a Disney princess sweetie pie in interviews and very eco conscious. She is another trend setting Canadian icon like Buffy St Marie, Joni Mitchell, Alanis, Sarah MacLachlan, Avril Lavigne, etc. Has something in common with each of those...
What about a female fronted band from Germany wich has stylistic influences from Korn, Slipknot and In This Moment? -> Null Positiv Their highly charismatic, energetic and powerful singer Elli Berlin has a large range from clean over harsh vocals up (or better down) to growls. Her voice is really unique in a very positive way. A band that is definitely worth to be reacted to The song "Independenz" is a very good song to experience the range of singer Elli Berlin:
I knew Jeff Loomis (blonde guitarist) personally back in his Nevermore days. While I'm extremely happy for him that he's signed on with a more commercially/financially successful band, its heartbreaking to see how much he's being held back in Arch Enemy. I don't know if he's doing it on his own, or if he's been told not to "outshine" the other guy or what, but it has made Arch Enemy extremely difficult to listen to since he's been with them.
Thanks Aileen! Liked + subbed. You're right. It has nothing to do with jinjer/spiritbox. It's an anthem to bridge some musical genres. They're doing the same again with Handshake with hell. The songs have some Arch Enemy elements but they're experimenting with others. These songs don't quite represent the core sound. They're hooks to get you into the core. It's the same reason I don't recommend you to do Handshake. Check our core sound songs like Deceiver Deceiver, House of Mirrors, or older songs.🤘
Handshake with hell, is really nice mostly cause you may hear her sing and not just scream. But House of Mirrors is the absolute best song, both with the lyrics and instrumentals. In my opinion at least :D
Please do an Arch Enemy reaction with the former singer Angela Gossow; no detraction to Alicia, but she just doesn't have the raw demonic brutality to her vocal and stage presence Angela had. Any song will do; Angela was flawless.
I really like the comments and knowledge and I really love how she enjoy the reacts...... Can you review the new Arch Enemy song Deceiver, Deceiver Greatting From LA
hey Aileen, i really think you should check out imminence if you havent heard of them already. would love to see a reaction. personal favorites of mine are heaven in hiding and infectious
Angela was actually the 2nd singer for Arch Enemy. There was a male singer at first, but it wasn't that great. Angela is the one that helped put the band on the map. She's my favorite AE singer.
I would recommend checking out this another song. It showcases the singing skills of Alissa a bit more: ARCH ENEMY - Reason To Believe (OFFICIAL VIDEO) ruclips.net/video/0kJdWJXxF3Y/видео.html
If you enjoyed Arch Enemy, Jinjer and Band-Maid, maybe you could react to Nemophila also? It would be a nice follow-up on that trend. Check their songs "Dissension" and/or "Revive" to start with. Nice reactions. Cheers
Try and ride the "wave", miss, when it happens let's see if it brings you more views. Dunno how you'll react to something like this: Bloodywood - Dana Dan, but it's hot as it can be right now :). Arch Enemy had their "wave" at the end of the last year with the song "Deceiver, Deceiver", but I think it calmed down (that's another interesting song by them).
God l love female metal growlers. Should check out this band, Under black flags we march. And see the Godmother of all female metal growlers Angela Gossow. And for my tastes, Much better vocally.
I hope you didnt count to much on the heavy aspect, its still melodic death metal :) what I love about Alissa is that you can understand all of her words although she is growling her soul out ^^
For the OG female harsh vocalist, Arch Enemy "Nemesis" Live in Tokyo with Angela Gossow
i was lucky enough to see Arch Enemy with Angela Gossow live opening for Slayer, they KILLED live! nothing against Alissa but Angela was SO MUCH better a front woman, Alissa has great cleans, but wasted in Arch Enemy, i understand cleans aren't AE's thing, and wouldn't want to hear them in an AE song, but maybe i'm saying she should be in a diff. band. but i get it, AE is an established band with a huge fanbase, long before she got the gig.

Angela sux
Nemesis 2016 Wacken
She rarely uses clean vocals with this band, but you can hear them on Reason to Believe and also on the brand new single, Handshake with Hell.
I think the Reason to Believe is their best song:
ARCH ENEMY - Reason To Believe (OFFICIAL VIDEO)

i really liked her in The Agonist
Reason to Believe is an underrated banger

Alissa has beautiful cleans as well, she's wasted in Arch Enemy IMO. Check out Liar Liar by Kamelot, which she does guest vocals on.

This is such a an awesome metal band. This song in particular was my anthem and still close to my heart when it comes to my perspective on theism
she's a total beast two awesome voices and the band is fuckin sick
I hope you'll react to Angela Gossow era Arch Enemy in the future :) Alissa is pretty good but Angela's power is unmatched

Good reaction as always. Arch enemy, one of favourites. Alissa is amazing.
The look on your face the moment her vocals first kicked in was PRICELESS.
revolution begins with the original singer :3

Yeah, great reaction, but also: I think you're going to love literally anything that Alissa has ever been involved in. So, so good.

A band that is definitely worth to be reacted to
The song "Independenz" is a very good song to experience the range of singer Elli Berlin:
Empowering group.
Spiritbox, The Machinist, and lots of female fronted Japanese heavy metal bands
god gave her all
💙
Потрясающе
Handshake with hell, is really nice mostly cause you may hear her sing and not just scream. But House of Mirrors is the absolute best song, both with the lyrics and instrumentals. In my opinion at least :D
If you Havnt yet Check out : in this moment - Blood
Please do an Arch Enemy reaction with the former singer Angela Gossow; no detraction to Alicia, but she just doesn't have the raw demonic brutality to her vocal and stage presence Angela had. Any song will do; Angela was flawless.
Aileen, you mentioned Jinjer, have you had the pleasure of hearing them do Pisces (live session), Napalm records? Good Stuff!
I loved your reaction!!! Please, can you react to "house of mirrors" by Arch Enemy? 😍
Nice reaction! I would also recommend the newer song "Deceiver, Deceiver", i love it ^^
Wintersun - Sons of Winter and Stars
Found you're channel thanks to EC, subbed & now I just keep watching you're reactions even though I don't even really like metal. Is that weird? 🤔
Welcome aboard!
Check out the Metal Band's Butcher Babies Song Monsters Ball Godsmack Unforgettable & Disturbed Down With The Sickness.
If you want to hear good Arch Enemy you need to listen to Angela Gossow. She is the original singer for them, Nemesis live in Japan 2008
Angela was actually the 2nd singer for Arch Enemy. There was a male singer at first, but it wasn't that great. Angela is the one that helped put the band on the map. She's my favorite AE singer.
I would recommend checking out this another song. It showcases the singing skills of Alissa a bit more:
ARCH ENEMY - Reason To Believe (OFFICIAL VIDEO)

If you enjoyed Arch Enemy, Jinjer and Band-Maid, maybe you could react to Nemophila also? It would be a nice follow-up on that trend. Check their songs "Dissension" and/or "Revive" to start with. Nice reactions. Cheers
Omg. Metal waifu
Aileen, I challenge you to listen to Angelina Jordan singing bohemian rhapsody. I guarantee you that you will not be able to get enough of her
She is not a screamer, she is a growler there is a difference
♥
Good choruses is the most important part imo, without a good chorus the song will not be waht it can be.
Your smile..:)
Maybe some Arch Enemy Nemesis live in wacken 2016 ?
i like your videos, you should look into amon amarth fafner's gold or lamb of god desolation👍
you have to listen to the previous female singer
Aileen you are drop-dead gorgeous ❣️
Try and ride the "wave", miss, when it happens let's see if it brings you more views. Dunno how you'll react to something like this: Bloodywood - Dana Dan, but it's hot as it can be right now :). Arch Enemy had their "wave" at the end of the last year with the song "Deceiver, Deceiver", but I think it calmed down (that's another interesting song by them).
I think you're ready for Avenged Sevenfold
Avenged Sevenfold-Afterlife Live in the LBC
God l love female metal growlers. Should check out this band, Under black flags we march. And see the Godmother of all female metal growlers Angela Gossow. And for my tastes, Much better vocally.
epic song = epic video right
I hope you didnt count to much on the heavy aspect, its still melodic death metal :)
what I love about Alissa is that you can understand all of her words although she is growling her soul out ^^
