- There are a ton of wheeling trips that Cindy and I do every year and for a myriad of reasons, we never get around to making them into a video. Some, we just don’t bother filming, others end up getting sidelined by bigger and better projects but every now and then, we stumble across an old photo or get talking to a friend about a specific trip and that gets us wondering, why didn’t we ever make a video out of it? Well, it took some deep digging through the archives to make this possible but today, you’re gonna get see one of those trips - a weekend trip we did about 10 years ago, out in Arizona and with our good friends Mel and Lisa from EVO. I should note that this was way back before anyone was thinking about a Jeep JL Wrangler, let alone a JT Gladiator and back when JK Wranglers were still all the rage. In fact, at the time, Moby was still rockin a 3.8L V6 and a 6-speed manual transmission and EVO1 was still a glorified orange Sahara. Also, while coilovers are pretty common place today, there was a time when seeing them on a daily driven Wrangler was still kind of a new idea. It was guys like Mel who helped to change all that and through the kind of extensive testing you'll get to see on this video. We hope you enjoy.

Damn son, this video got more flex than a Golds Gym.
LOL - I'd have to say that I still think it's impressive even by today's standards :)
@@wayalife Hell yes it is!
The old footage is awesome. My God Mel looks so different lol. If possible, please do more of these. It’s fun to see MOBY in the early days.
10 years is a long time LOL! If we can think of others and can find the footage, we'll be sure to do more of these :)
bucket list item to go wheeling with the wayalife crew thanks for all you do for the jeep community keep up the good work and amazing videos
Thank you. We're so glad you enjoy our videos and hope that you can join us some day :)
That might the best intro you have done! Love the dusty hard drive!
G Judge thanks! Glad you liked it 😎
Doing that with a manual just gave me flashbacks lol I know how hard that is and while I still dig the man pedal I've grown to appreciate my automatic, both of my daughters and there husband's are Wheeling manual Jeeps and I never get tired of watching the intense concentration on there faces or the look of terror when one of my girls let's a four letter word slip lol
Too funny and glad you enjoyed the video :)
Awesome! Videos like this is what got me hooked on your channel in the first place 👍
So glad to hear it, thank you :)
Very cool that you guys dusted this one off. Love seeing old school Moby and EVO 1 getting twisted up.
Glad you enjoyed it :)
Wayalife's videos from10 years ago are still better than 99% of other youtubers make today!
You are way too and we're flattered you would say as much. Thank you.
Awesome video - please find more - great seeing Moby and EVO1 again!!! Love the JKs!
LOL - we'll post more as we think about and find it :)
Your channel is the reason I own a JKUR and moby was my inspiration.. its always been my goal to finish my setup with a set of ATX slabs and a few days ago I finally got some... the cherry on top is laying down and seeing this video on my RUclips feed.. thanks bud! Cheers moby! You guys just completed my jeep soul!
That is so cool and congratulations to you!
Great video as always! You guys make me envious of all the trails you have out there!
Thank you. Happy to hear you enjoyed the video :)
Thanks Eddie for sharing some more wheeling video because I've been suffering massive withdrawals lately.... 😎😜
Cheers, AL
LOL - sorry about leaving you hanging. We've just been crazy busy and haven't had time to do much of anything else. Trying to fix that though.
Wayalife That's cool, I totally understand 😉😁
I'm have a major addiction to your video's going back over 10yrs and I've got most of my Jeep mates addicted too. Take care guys
WOW, amazing flex and twisted HARD out of those beautiful JK's. Only cosmetic damage, no catastrophic failures out of that hard twisting is outstanding. Great vintage video those rigs are awesome. Oh and great trail repair. Glad you kept that in video.
Thank you! We're so glad to hear you had fun watching our video :)
Thank you for you awesome footage at Arizona rock crawling.Blessed you and member who travel outside for having fun to stay healthy during this epidemic Covid19.Wish to see more you video uo coming this year.💪
Glad you enjoyed the video :)
Damn this reminds me of 8th grade circa 2012 when I started getting into cars and watching your videos man.
LOL - okay, now I feel old :)
What a great trip down memory lane!
LOL - glad we decided to make a video out of it and that you liked it :)
Wow that was crazy! Amazing that nothing broke! That driver rear wheel was damn near horizontal on that last rock! Awesome stuff!
LOL - and that's the reason why we run EVO :)
Most impressive flex in a real trail situation. As always you two are an inspiration to the Jeeping world.
Humbled that you would say as much and glad that you liked what you saw :)
You have not aged at all Eddie !! Bottle that and sell it to us girls!!! ❤️🐞
LOL - you're too kind.
I agree, those Jeeps had incredible great flex. Nice video.
Thank you :)
BAD ASS once again!!!! Thank you so much for the amazing footage and crazy flex! Cannot wait to have a Jeep and experience AZ out and about! Really love y’all’s videos....thanks again! 👍👊
So glad to hear you enjoyed it :)
Agh so much nostalgia! 3.8, 6-speed, California plates, EVO1 was still a jk and not a race rig lol. This was a fun watch!
LOL - so glad you enjoyed the crawl down memory lane :)
Outstanding footage of just you and Mel, two OG's in the game pushing the limits of full Flexing in Mojave Desert. Love the sound of Rock sliders being put to use and Eddy Spaghetti doing a phenomenal job with the manual Moby mode making it look easy. I can go on but with all the bleep words that I heard I would like to say fucking awesome Wayalife.
LOL - too funny and so glad you had fun watching our video :)
Thanks for the video. You guys did great work 10-15 years ago. The places you can go with your Jeeps! Glad you got this out of storage. Take care
Happy to hear you enjoyed seeing us back in the day :)
So cool was watching some older videos of yours earlier said 12 -15 years ago an then you throw together some older trips man what a treat lol awesome stuff as always be safe 👍👍
LOL - wish we could have posted some of this stuff up sooner but hey, we figure better late than never. Glad you enjoyed seeing it :)
Was watching project jk signal hill 11 years go your older videos brings back memories of rubicon trail etc with my brother in law awesome stuff 👍👍
Keep making awesome videos for those of us that do not have a jeep.
Sorry to hear you don't have a Jeep but we will keep posting away :)
The best throw back man. Took me waaaay back. Thank you! 🤚🏼
LOL - glad you enjoyed the crawl down memory lane :)
Video is great,no need to apologize great quality.
Thank you :)
Awesome wheeling, especially with all the squeaks and popping sounds from the chassis!
I love that part of the country, it's not too far from where I grew up as a little kid, running amok in the desert. lol
Glad we could take you back to where you grew up and happy to hear you enjoyed the video :)
I watch some of these 'rocky' positions you guys are in, and think, there's no way they'll get through that! And you make it through each time.. Awesome!!
LOL - glad you had fun watching our video :)
That was *great* to watch. Thanks for putting it up! More, please!
So glad to hear you enjoyed it! We'll dig around for more trips like this :)
3:39 awesome flex in opposing direction front and rear!
That's the EVO DTD system at work :)
and 10:38
Awesome flash back. I’m the farthest thing from an expert, but I noticed a bunch of small details that I’ve never noticed in your more recent videos. Wheel spin seemingly caused by axle shaft torsion. The ultra flexed positions of the axles/tires looking out of geometry in relation to the body/frame. 5 lug vs 8 lug. Looked like tires weren’t conforming to rocks like they do today. Really showed the evolution of all the different parts that go into these awesome built machines.
Hard to believe how much has changed in just 10 years and if you can believe it, a ton had changed since 10 years before that.
Nice throwback Mel looking super young
10 years is a lot of years :)
Brought back memories of my 09 manual JK! Had the same linkage issue at the transfer case. The following year the nylon bushing at the other end of the linkage disintegrated. Yet another great video !
LOL - someone who knows! Glad you enjoyed the video :)
Its truly amazing what these vehicles go through, I can't believe you don't break more. And that's why I got one lol. I bet you don't miss the standard!! Thanks for another great video, you two put out the best videos !!! Def miss you not doing many lately I hope to see many more. Understandably its alot of work!!!
Thank you. Glad that you were able to enjoy this and we apologize for not getting as many videos out as we would prefer. It's been a very busy for us these past few months but we're hoping to get back into the groove again and soon.
Cool great vintage footage! Thanks
Glad you enjoyed it :)
Been waiting for a wheeling video for some time now 👌🏻👍🏻 thank you guys for our fix 😆
Awesome! So glad we could hook you up :)
Some impressive driving and excellent team work 👍
Thank you! So glad you enjoyed the video :)
Awesome video Eddie and sometimes I was holding breath😱I hope you can easily repair the right front door of Moby. Thanks Cindy and Eddie for this impressive video.
LOL - I'm happy to hear we could bring what it was like to be out there to you by video. The damage wasn't too bad and we ended up doing a LOT more damage a few years later.
Man i can tell that was fun but also technical, keep up the great content man
Thank you. It was a challenge for sure but also, the only real way to put the EVO products to the test :)
@@wayalife Hell yeah ;D
Super impressive. Another great video, thank you so much.
Thank you, so glad you enjoyed it :)
Wayalife i always enjoy your videos. I like your style of editing and I like when you wheel with Mel.
Flattered to hear you say as much. Thanks!
..Thanks for sharing Eddie!!!!
You bet! Glad you enjoyed it :)
Amazing what moby was doing with a 3.8... love the flex of the jeeps. Really nice retro video...
So glad you enjoyed seeing it and hard to believe Moby was still running a 3.8 back then :)
You’ve got a great buddy system going, spot on guiding. Nice job
Thank you. Glad you had fun watching this :)
Loved it! Use all the content you have on those hard drives. Maybe do a “Throwback Thursday” feature on your channel, where you post these types of videos once a week.
LOL - if we can find it, we'll definitely make videos out of them :)
Thank you for this. Loved the intro and video. Amazing work
Awesome! So glad to hear it :)
Yes!!! More wheelin' videos please!
Glad you liked the video and we'll try to get more up soon.
Damn here I am rewatching old Wayalife vids. Missing new stuff from you guys..... need a Jeep fix bad!
Sorry my friend, things have been crazy with the whole corona thing.
Dude that was some great rock crawling 👍
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed some of the fun we were having way back in the day :)
Wow haven't seen you doing some good ol' fashioned crawling in ages. Was nice to see, even if it was some old footage.
Sorry about that. It's not that we don't do it, it's just that we're typically on a run where it's tough to film or there's so little of it that it's not worth filming - or, at least in our opinion.
Intense! I was getting goosebumps. Good stuff
LOL - awesome! Glad you could see and feel how challenging some of this stuff was :)
Uhhh yeah. I’m not some kind of big wheeler so I’m not used to this, but damn. I’m like all stressed out just watching. Thanks for sharing.
LOL - glad you enjoyed our video... I think 😁
Great video thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it :)
Can't wait to see this Bad Ass Jk with the new Powertrain... Eddie i really hope you and Cindy make one with the new stuff. Great Video as always.
Thank you! The new powertrain is in part why we decided to put out this video - to help show a before and after.
That is amazing. Great driving.
Happy to hear you enjoyed the video :)
Damn Eddi the Moby is beast .. maybe you should rename it OG Moby 😂😂😂 flex video awesome video
LOL - Hard to believe we were doing stuff like this way back in the day. Glad you enjoyed it :)
I had the clip that holds my transfer case cable come off 20 miles into the desert on a solo run last year. Always fun.
Really good content, I don’t have a Jeep but this is awesome
Thank you, we're so glad you enjoyed it.
The good old days!
LOL - and the good times just keep on rollin :)
Great production great vid great jeep ur an awesome guy i feel like i wouod have given u a better spot that the other dude lol not everyone has the eyes that we have...i know u dont see things the way others dont...stay awesome my friend keep the content coming well keep watching
Awesome Footage of EVO 1 & MOBY!!!!
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed seeing this :)
Think you need to do this with all the old footage you have and it's so clear
LOL - after our last run out there, Cindy and I got talking about this trip and though, why in the hell didn't we ever make a video out of that. We may just have to do some more digging around :)
Nicely done. « Tout en douceur ». I would like to see more like this. Thank you for sharing.
We'll see what we can do :)
Yeah nice to see Moby in the earlier days... Such a cool Jeep...
Glad you enjoyed seeing him back in the day :)
great video. I love the setup you have MOBY
Hi that is amazing. I think I met you on your way home from TN...We saw you in Daytona...
You should put more old videos on here, love it.
Thank you, we may have to :)
Wow! Some AMAZING FOOTAGE!
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it :)
the evo quarter pounder seems to be timeless XD
definitely getting one
LOL - indeed :)
I love mine as well 🙌🏼
Awesome video even though it was from that long ago!! You guys rock!!!
Thank you! So glad you could still enjoy an old video like this :)
Awesome outstanding job have a great time thanks
Thank you
Awesome vid as usual.
Thank you :)
Dang I was just saying last vid posted "Eddie what have you done for me lately". Then boom you drop some finely aged vintage JK footage. Makes me second guess trading my JK for a JT.
LOL - you made the right choice. The JT is badass.
I have a JK Rubicon and don’t know if to trade it in for a JL. Seeing this makes me comfortable staying put.
There's a lot you can do with a JK. The only reason to upgrade is for the 3.6L and 8-speed auto. They are amazing.
@@wayalife The transmission is what catches my attention, I drove the 2.0T and didn't like it at all when in 4L, so JL will wait or even what comes after JL lol Thanks for the reply Eddie, I love the channel!
That was some fun!
Glad you had fun watching this :)
You guys are insane👍
LOL - maybe just a little :)
Duke was almost a puppy back then! Awesome wheeling.
This was way before Duke was born. You're looking at Tessa :)
That's some serious crawling there. Mel is full of hair :)
Glad you liked seeing it! Some serious terrain out there.
Great video!
Thanks! Glad you liked it :)
Great wheeling vid. The guys from Evo or down to earth just like the Psc guys
Cool to see Moby in old skool form! Those damned transfer case cables are junk. Had the front clip go on a boat ramp one time.
Yeah, they kinda suck and have sucked for a very long time.
Presidents choice 👌🔥🔥🔥 solid trail
You guys should run hells half mile outside bullhead city. Fun trails all over that area
Oh yeah, tons of great trails out there. Didn't know people started to name them until recently.
One of the local clubs is the Bullhead 4wheelers. They are very knowledgeable about local trails.
Nice rig great video
Glad you enjoyed it :)
Man..... man..... man ..... this is what made me take rock crawling serious.......evo1 and moby
LOL!! So glad you did my friend. It's been a hell of a lot of fun wheeling with you :)
Moby is a flexy beast !!! 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
LOL - yes he is :)
I miss MOBY. Still my favorite. Maybe it is because of Black bear pass. Nice!
Well, we still have Moby and currently, we're making him better than ever before :)
Did you change the engine in Moby years back ? I must have missed it somehow .. i know your JL and Moby and JT are all auto’s now but didnt know you changed Moby.. anyway thanks for another awesome as always video Eddie , you and Mel never disappoint..
LOL - Cindy and I grew up driving manuals and learned how to wheel with one. In a lot of ways, we still prefer a manual but for wheeling like this, an auto is better. It's like the difference between being locked and unlocked. Moby got an LS V8 a while back and it came with an auto. Glad you enjoyed the video :)
Very nice, thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it :)
I love your videos
Thank you :)
Please do more like that. Sorry if anyone has asked already, whats the names of the trails. Cheers
the glory days
A new series of these kind of videos.. call it "twisty's" And great footage FYI. Nice to see a manual on the rocks.
LOL :)
Eddie is the spotter of a lifetime
Miss your videos.
We really are sorry for dropping the ball lately. Have a lot going on but trying to do our best to keep up with it.
Great video.
Looks like a fun trail.
What are the fenders on EVO-1? I don't think I have seen ones like that before.
Thanks Jerry! The fenders are custom glass that Mel had made.
Eddy we need more rock crawling videos or overlanding.please.
Impressive 💪🤘
Thank you :)
Would love to watch a "must have tool essentials" video
We're actually working on it and hope to have it up soon.
