    I'm about to do this for the first time on my 2005 VIbe GT. I was really nervous about it until I saw how shagged your rear motor mount was.
    Thanks for the video. This is really useful!

    Did this in junkyard today….only thing I’d do differnt is leave the mounts until after undoing the bolts. At the very least that bottom 14mm. There wasn’t enough room to get a socket in there between the subframe. So I had to improvise and jack up the motor/trans (managed to find the factory jack in the back, on top of a spare tire on top of wheel. Worked great! lol)…otherwise this video is a godsend!
    And…I’m Trying to wrap my head around how you got the rear mount bracket past the rear mount.
    Thanks!!!!!!

    Great video; I just dropped in my rebuilt engine together with the transmission on our 04 Corolla; after securing it and torquing found couple challenges; one is the power steering pump high pressure hose from rack pinion to pump how to connect it and torque it down but the other challenge is even worst as the shifter cables bracket that goes secured to the transmission bell I left it in the cable; I did not know it was simple to release the cables from the bracket so now I found out after installing the shifter cables back that there is no space to get the hand in that tight space and bolt the 3 bolts the bracket has to the transmission bell as these are bolted from the inside of the bay between firewall and engine; tried reaching from underneath and no luck; nighttime came but my hope is tomorrow I can climb on top of the engine bay and maybe reach down from top after removing the coolant hoses; the shifter cables may be on the way but by watching you here if I can remove the cables from the bracket then maybe I can get them out of the way, secure the bracket if this is possible then reattach the cables; a street mechanic told me those cables are kind of set on the bracket in a way that it is better to remove the bracket and reattach the whole assembly but now I find myself in a dead end and I am hoping I do not have to drop the transmission just because I missed this part; the engine is already torque down on its mounts. At this point I still do not have the axles installed or anything on top of the transmission side but I remember how hard it was to separate the engine from the transmission when I took it out which is why I decided to take the transmission out and then drop the engine and transmission complete as a whole; I am just pissed off this info about the bracket is nowhere to be found as the Hynes manual sucks as far as information for us grunts and the dealer's mechanics wont share too much either of things they know are struggles; we have to find out the hard way! in any case, hope tomorrow I can work on that space and reattach everything and torque without having to drop anything radical; you got to love Toyota engineering putting those bolts facing the inside of the engine bay rather the other side towards the driver side where there is better space for maneuver the bracket, the fuckers! LOL.

    I wonder if leaving the knuckle attached to the strut has to do with potentially messing up the camber? I believe the holes in the strut are a tad larger than the holes in the knuckle and the bolts? I think this allows for a tiny bit of camber adjustment. I’m probably completely wrong about that. Just spitballing.
    Pondering going to a junkyard to do this tomorrow for practice (have to do the clutch on my xrs matrix). Might even buy the c60 ($175) but I don’t know….car looks pretty rough.

    For the bottom most 14mm trans to engine bolts, did you remove that cross member piece that the forward most engine mount is bolted to to get better access? The bottom most 14mm bolt has at most a half inch between the bolt head and that crossmember and its already touching it while im unthreading it.

Im wondering if I can do that, or just have my trans rebuilt/which one would be easier. There’s hardly any corollas around me to rob a trans from.

    So the front and rear motor mounts….are those mounted to the trans???? I didn’t think they had to come undone. Not much supporting the engine after you remove the trans?
    Now would be the time to do that rear mount….that thing is a royal pain to do otherwise….unless you lower the subframe which is how some guys do it. At least a royal pan in a 1zz auto. Maybe easier in a manual car?

    • @2zzlow
      @2zzlow  Год назад +1

      front, rear and side transmission mounts are mounted to the transmission. the engine will be supported by the cross member so it will hold the weight of the engine perfectly fine. ABSOLUTLY the perfect time to do the rear mount since its a pain in the ass. its easier on an automatic because the shift cables are not in the way.

      its kinda hard to test it when its out of the vehicle without opening it to check those synchros. At the very least put the transmission in gear and turn the spline. Exedy 16800 is great for daily use and if you want a stiffer clutch pedal feel but wouldn't recommend it to the track. exedy kty14 is nice for daily use but has a softer clutch.
