My personal theory/headcanon was that after Roku died & Aang became the Avatar The Fire Nation wanted to speed up the Avatar Cycle to get another Firebending Avatar to help them conquer the planet. So, the Fire Nation used the comet to destroy the Air Temples so the Avatar would be reborn as a Waterbender. Because of this, the Fire Nation started kidnapping Waterbenders like Hama to figure out which of them was the Avatar, but since Aang didn't die the Fire Nation likely realized the Airbending Avatar survived. As a result, the Fire Nation spent decades on conquering the Earth Kingdom where they thought the Avatar was hiding even though he was near the South Pole the entire time.

Katara never shows remorse for blood-bending in the Southern Raiders. Whats scary is that we watch her learn and understand blood-bending is wrong, but we never see her forsake using it. I love katara as a character, but i don't think those were her only 2 victims.

Listen to me. I do not like to feel sad. I never liked to feel sad. I did not grow up cynical. I was never meant to believe that people are only interested in themselves and are not sincere. I never used to say that someone's feelings or emotions are used to my own advantage. I was never cynical. Why do you think that I grew up cynical? Why do you think I like to feel sad?
