It's worth mentioning that Marianne realizes that she and Nigel knew Donnie's parents before they died, adding a layer to the "It was meant to be," idea.
It certainly seems like the Thornberries are the kind of people that Donnie’s parents would choose to look after their son. They’re kind-hearted, good people who are also animal lovers, just like Donnie’s parents.
No doubt that was a huge (no pun intended) thing that helped Donnie feel more at ease with them. Maryanne wearing a head scarf (like Donnie's biological mother did) probably helped too.
I remember The Origin of Donnie was a massive event!! Not only do we see where Donnie came from, but it was a pretty dark story; I don't think The Wild Thornberrys ever topped it during the series. I haven't seen the movie, so I don't know about that one
I know their death was super dark but I liked the writer didn't shy away from it. I mean if it was like 90's Disney, they would of force the writers to make it so that the Pouchers had simply "kidnapped" Donnie parent and were never seem again. Just them trying to stop the poarcher but only met the end of their machete just seen more "realistic"? Just assuming that's what happened when someone ain't so careful when up against a poacher?
I don’t remember the part of Donnie’s parents being hacked to death from what I remember from my childhood was that the orangutans snatched baby Donnie out of a moving steamboat down a river, I think because my little child sized mind couldn’t remember dark moments so it filled in the blanks. It’s sad and horrible to really know their fates, all and all thank you for helping me remember my childhood.
That was a dark story for a kids show, we really had it all growing up and was born at the right time for our childhood and wrong time to be an adult. (I'm a 90s kid)
Quick correction: The ASL sign that Donnie and the Orangutans keep repeating is not "Everything is okay", but rather it means "Family". Which I guess can sort of mean the same thing in the context of them using it here ("Its okay we'rr family") but just wanted to be more correct here.

which does applied that they must have donnie when they was in the jungle so Marianne and Nigel wouldn't recordize him

Donnie's language is actually an amalgamation of his baby talk he was still speaking when his parents died as well as the orangutan language.
I noticed why he trusted Nigel. He had big teeth like his biological dad.

I remember watching this episode when I was a kid I'm heartbroken what happened to his real parents but I'm happy he got adopted by the thornberrys

I haven't seen the movie, so I don't know about that one
I will always love how Tim Curry was the voice of Nigel Thornberry
Donnie and Tarzan both have a similar story , both lost their parents and we're raised by animals
When Nick was not afraid to go dark

That is the sign for “family”
This is the bittersweet story, I ever heard.
I know more about Donnie he will always be my favorite cartoon child

Idk why but i felt I remember that same thing too where he was taken from a boat
I don't too but then I feel like it felt I do lol
Thank you for unearthing buried childhood trauma
All of the cartoons we loved are ruined by the actions of their creators. DX

Baby Donny looks like Tommy Pickles
His hair reminds me of Chuckie Finster's hair.
The same studio made both shows
Remember when he was depicted as the Antithesis of Chuckie? I do.
The episode is more sad knowing that I lost some close family members and hits you like a recking ball 🥺
So sad how his parents died 🥺
Sometimes i just randomly remember donnies backstory.
Me too bro me too hence why I’m here today 😢
Aw, shweet, childhood trauma unlocked.

That is pretty sad.
I remember this! Thanks for discussing it! Great video.
Obviously he would be dead like his Parents if he stayed with the Orangoutangs.
What happened to Donnie's parents was sad 😢😭
Poor boy
I remember this episodes forgot what happened to his parents
I have liked the Wild Thornberrys ever since I moved away from Sydney, Australia (made that up). Thanks!
Kinda reminds me of gorillas in the mist
Who would've thought they would give a sad backstory to a character voiced by one of the Red-Hot Chili Peppers?
I loved that episode
Donnie's parents have the same names as my parents
Plot twist: You are now Donnie. lol
do next video about kid flash and jinx, talk relationship, how they became friends etc, just like the video you made simliar about terra and beastbooy.
I’m seeing shades of Mighty Joe Young here…
It's one thing when nature happens like in Tarzan. But the kid's parents were killed by normal human beings. Now that's cruel
I thought Donnies parents passed away
Well, technically, they did passed away. After all they were both brutally murdered.
I mean. they did. They very much did. they were murdered
@@kekeandtofo I really hope there's justice for them like the animals attacking the poachers or something, would be bitter sweet for Donnie.
Wild Thornberrys was one of the best shows
My childhood ain't ruined. Like I haven't seen death in a cartoon before!
I didn’t know Donnie was adopted
Nickelodeon really hit hard sometimes.
There are actually theories children having been raised by animals.
I think the mom orangutan did the right thing she knew Donnie belonged with humans
I never watched this cartoon because they went out of the way to make all the characters hideous.
