    Another great video! Thanks. Great that you point out just how decent the performance of a 29bhp scooter is - I'm sick of reading idiot journalists in Bike mags who describe 100bhp bikes as 'underpowered'!

    • @markpulling12
      @markpulling12  2 года назад +5

      Yes thanks Tim ...it's surprising how quick you can actually go on just 28 HP if you wind these things up a bit !

    • @KurtGAndersen
      @KurtGAndersen 2 года назад +18

      True and good point there!
      The problem me thinks is that many riders dont think about the fact that HP is always noted at max output HP. For example many of the sportier and R bikes might have 100+ HP but at 12-13 000 RPM that is. So riding such a bike at more normal RPMs like 3-6000 and you expect +100 HP and there is only maybe 30-40 HP at hand it actually feels underpowered.
      With these scooters you can have almost max torque/power with a little twist of the throttle, no need to get it screamin at 12-13000 RPMs…

    • @timbounds7190
      @timbounds7190 2 года назад +6

      @@KurtGAndersen Yes, sounds a very good explanation - and that many powerful bikes need to rev quite hard to produce power and many bikers haven't worked out how to pick the right gear yet! It demonstrates just how unsuitable many bikes are for actual road use these days.

      I ride my Honda ruckus in the winter (northern east coast). It's mostly US making freeway a first priority to any other road to plow and treat. Street level is a joke, they'll send only 2, 1, or none at all before 7AM to plow the roads even if they knew that snowfall is coming for that week. I believe busses should have the Japan model of having sensors set up halfway the stretch to signify the lights to go green for them to speed up times for riders and have plowing capabilities. This would have busses plowing at a good intervals on streets.

    • @clangerbasher
      @clangerbasher Год назад

      @@alaris1203 Yes I am familiar with this Japane system. Here in the UK we are caught in the middle. It snows but not enough for local councils to take to serious. Most get away with gritting and salting the roads. It's the modern problem where local government is treated like business and so they don't want under utilised kit sitting around idle.

    Nice review. Used to own a SH300 (and later a TMax) alongside some bigger bikes. I tried the mid side Forza a while back but found it a bit cramped for my 6ft1, perhaps this ADV model would be more spacious. I now have a Forza 750 which is far more comfortable and roomy, especially for taking a pillion, and it gives pretty much the same economy, from an engine which has twice the power. Against that, it costs twice as much if you add luggage, and it has a chain..
    All lovely bikes. Choose which suits your needs.

I can't afford the X-ADV 750 as much as I'd like one. I've also been looking at the CB500X but it's just more than I need, really, even though in many ways it's better.

    Just like a forza 360 only thing I'd carry over would be the better suspension... I have been on a rough gravel road on forza and a bit hairy... the bike does shift though.
    I wonder if honda will up the power to 40 - 50hp in the forza 350 before it becomes to much like a bike with chain drive.

    Verry nice video👍 i am a biker since 30 years. But I always loved scooters, even 50cc for just going to the beach or something. For a couple of years ago a bought a aprilia 300 max. I liked the looks and the performance was ok BUT it was to small/cramped. At that time i hade 40 km to work, now just 15 km. so instead of my 150 hp bikes a like to get a new scooter. I’m a typical swede, 185cm and 100 kg. So the question, is the Honda adv bigger, more legroom than the aprilia? Thanks 🙏🏻

      @@robhall5622 Yep, I can vouch for that. I ran an X-MAx 300 for 3 years and it was generally very good but the lights in winter were simply not fit for purpose. The first time on a dark lane I put it on full beam, I thought they were broken, but no! Many owners on the forums complained. I'm glad you asked the question about how it compares to the XMax as I was going to ask the same as I'm very tempted by the ADV. It looks a step up in many respects on the XMax and is actually cheaper!

    Seeing I watched the other 350 video again, I thought I'd watch this one a second time, too. I certainly wouldn't go off-road on it. All that body work. I think this bike could replace both my 390 and 155. Leave the 950 for real trips. I suspect that, assuming I bought one, I'd opt for riding the 350 most of the time.

    Thanks Mark, I was thinking about upgrading from my forza 300 2018 model. I do like the big electric screen on mine and as the mirrors are mounted on the fairing with built-in indicators. I use a tanano waterproof leg shield which is essential for all year round commuting. This would look odd on the xadv 350. I think my forza 300 is slightly shorter and narrower too. In fact the xadv 750 is not much bigger and more powerful. Anyway interesting and detailed review.

    • @robertmarsh3588
      @robertmarsh3588 2 года назад +3

      I've ridden quite a lot of miles on all these bikes. The 750 has literally twice the power. You'd notice a huge difference, though this may be irrelevant if you ride in town a lot or don't take a pillion. As a commuter, the 750 is probably overkill unless you have a 15+ mile journey on fast roads.
      The Forza 300 is a lovely bike. I just didn't find it big enough and it was slower compared to my 2010 SH300i. The latest 350 (really 330cc) engine is a bit more powerful and arguably takes performance back to the levels of 15 years ago on the SH300 before emissions started reducing the output. Perhaps this is a sweet spot in the range in terms of what you get per £...?

      @@robertmarsh3588 Hiya, I haven't ridden the new nc750 range /engine. I used to ride through London a nc700 early one so its dct was a bit rubbish, couldn't make up its mind which gear to go in and it blooming heavy and boaty around the bends! I like a cvt scooter and yes 350 would hit the sweet spot! I still have an urge to splash out on a tmax 530 but they so expensive even second hand. Guess I will just keep mine now its paid for. Oh I did rest ride the sh300 but didn't find it any swifter than the forza 300 at the time but haven't ridden the very old sh300 I hear good things about them and they do 50k miles or more if looked after.

    Hello Mark,
    A question for you. I have a large adventure bike but am considering selling it, renting the same for annual European tours, but buying myself a mid-size scooter, my main focus being the Adv 350 and the Forza 350. Appearance-wise, and also due to the wide bars, I much prefer the Adv but I realise that you compromise on weather protection v's the Forza. I would mainly use the scooter for fun and local jaunts, but would also occasionally use it to commute approx. 40 miles each way, most of which would be the M25, M23 and A20. There are very few of the Adv or Forza 350 around for test rides so I am very interested in your thoughts, mainly whether I should go for the Forza over the Adv, or just get the Adv and put up with the shortcomings? I note below that you gave the Adv the green light to a similar question, but maybe my (Occasional) commute length would make a difference? I'm 5'10", 90-ish kg and regular inside leg...
    Thanks.

      Hi Simon ...well tough choice as both are brilliant machines...I think the adv is a very unique style and feel ..and due to its wide bars and slightly off road ability it would be a better bet maybe in the winter conditions we get ....that being said if the two were put in front of me and I had to choose I'd go for the Forza just ! ...just love it's weather protection, electric screen

      Hi. There is another UK based reviewer, 5.1ft tall and he showed he can stand on its toe balls on it. I am just as that tall, I have 32" inseam height and I am sure I can stand on it without issues. Unfortunately, I was on market for a Tricity 300 due to not having a motorcycle licence, so no testing it by me yet, but this ADV is so appealing. I think that the price difference, would cover my riding school and exams, plus buying a good cover, strong chain and disc locks, and a monimoto GPS tracker for this bike. Also, I could get some serious discount through a gov. program, called "the wreck". I have an old car which if I scrap, I can receive more than 1000GBP discount. The unpleasant part is the paperwork and too much bureaucracy, wandering between dealer, police registration office, tax office and scrapyard.

    The ADV350 and the Forza350 are both great, but I bought the often overlooked SH350. Identical engine and transmission but the bike is lighter, with bigger wheels for a smoother ride, and a step through bodywork that's great for those with hip and knee problems. It also rides like a motorbike and, even if I could get my leg over (!) a maxi scooter, I think I'd still plump for the SH350.

    • @nivelan
      @nivelan Год назад

      The SH350 lacks storage which is why they come with a top box usually. The Piaggio Beverly 400 has a similar style but more substance, I'd plump for that. I just wish Piaggio also did an ADV style scooter. I know some think they're silly like fake SUVs but as a tall person, I like their extra height and adjustability a lot.

    you've tested the Forza 350 also in your opinion which would you say the best out of the two? at 1st I wasn't keen on the ADV but it has grown on me. I ride two up most of the time. I currently have the Forza 750 and after my Scotish tour next year I'm thinking of down sizing to the 350, I also have the NC750S which I'll use for longer runs. also I'm retired so I don't commute and I don't ride in winter months once the road salt is laid down, I use the car.

    Are the handlebars high enough that a 6'3 guys thighs won't reach the grips when I turn? On my kymco 400i my knees are just half a foot away from the grips and when I turn the grips hit my thigh so I have to spread my legs more to avoid that from happening.

    I'm in Canada those are not here yet but I hear they are coming. I'm 5 5 so it would be to tall a seat height for me. So I'm leaning more toward a Honda Forza 350 (which I hear has a shorter seat height and can fit two full-face helmets underneath the seat.. Or Yamaha XMax 350, the seat height will be the deciding factor.

      hi. I had the maxsym 400I. Sold it and bought the 2022 maxsym 500TL Honestly, it's no where near a the comfort and wind protection as the 400i. The 500TL is sporty and fun to ride, but not for long distances. the seat isn't as soft and comfortable, no backrest for the pillion. and the under seat storage can barely hold 1 full face helmet, where the 400i could fit 2 full face helmets. all the best with wear you decide to purchase. make it your own and have fun . safe riding.
