@@yyxy5798 Actually, the NFL didn't implement the "Maintain Control" rule until the offseason AFTER this play. This was the play that led to that rule becoming official. When this game happened, it was just up to the refs to make the call.

Holding and landing out of bounds were in no way new ways to lose - completing the process of the catch, AKA The Calvin Johnson rule, was. Also was ending a game with a 10 second run-off because of an OFFICIAL REVIEW stopped the clock (also, Tate was down at 11 seconds, if down at all.)

I still have to gripe about that Lions/Falcons game. Yes, he was touched down at the one yard line. But what kind of stupid rule is the 10 second run off?? It’s not the teams fault you got the call wrong and had to review it. There was no penalty on the offense. The lions could’ve gotten another play off in 8 seconds, all the players were right there. Once again, a team loses because of stupid rules by the NFL.

He had been a first round Ram pick but *led the league in penalties* from 2005 through 2009, and was giving up mondo sacks while making millions. Meanwhile the Cowboys had a waste of a first round player themself, Bobby Carpenter. Both teams wanted to cut bait so they traded across. This was his first game, season game 1. That was his third hold of the game (only one other Cowboy would have that many in the entire SEASON). So after this, he only played two more snaps that year, and no regular season snaps with any team the rest of his career. Meanwhile, Bobby Carpenter was already cut by the Rams before a single regular season games. Pair of chumps.

I mean, we can argue all we want about what the rules should be, that's entirely subjective (and I think a lot of people don't understand the ramifications of what "simplifying" the catch rules would have), but it was the right call according to the rule book they were playing under.

If they didn't need to then those plays would have been ruled complete passes. I don't agree with some of the rules but those are the rules.
Megatron's catch was questionable, but rules are rules, even if they make no sense.
On the other, James's catch was legit as you can see that his right hand is always under the ball and never touched the ground even after hitting the ground
megatron didn't hold onto the ball..the real guy who got screwed was dez bryant in the playoffs lol that was a catch all day long and the NFL had the nerve right there on national tv to show their true colors and since then ALOT of people have opened their eyes to what the NFL is really doing.

I'm still amazed every year at how little credit he gets. According to the cold hard numbers he is every bit as good as Brady and some seasons even better than him, but because he has always had a weak supporting cast no one ever sings his praises like they should

Plus he stat pads A LOT. 5000 yards sounds great until you watch game tape and see he puts up 200 yards in garbage time against the buccaneers lol.
Dylan Bloomer trash division? It’s the most competitive and complete division at the moment with 3 very good QB’s. Until the Panthers pulled it off, no team had repeated as division champs since 2002. Meanwhile Brady plays in the weakest division in football with a guarantee of at least one home playoff game every year. Pads stats? Generally when you’ve had the statistically worst defense in history 3 times you have to throw for a ton of yards and TD’s just to keep your team in the game. In 2011 alone (when Brees broke almost every record imaginable) he sat out the majority of the 4th quarter in 3 games I know of right off the top of my head. Plus, how many playoff games have we seen Brees pull off a game winning drive just to watch the defense let it go? With even a mid tier defense, Brees would have at least 2, possibly even 3 titles by now.

Legendary Ben I said the division was actually ok the last couple years. Drew brees has been playing against them since 2006 though not 2014. Almost a decade of him playing trash teams 6 times a year.

Truthfully, Golden Tate made a mistake cutting his route short. That left it in the refs' hands.
