I've got access to Netflix, iplayer, Amazon Prime, Disney and Apple TV. So can somebody explain to me why the highlight of my week's entertainment is to sit with a glass of wine and a packet of crisps watching a former fat man flog himself half to death in some ungodly physical challenge?

Extremely well done Ryan. I’ve run several hundred trail and ultra distances races and yes, sometimes they go a little bit wonky. But it really was a good training experience as you concluded for both the body and the mind. The ability to keep going when you feel shattered is a super power. In your analysis of the race consider better pacing and taking in far more calories and water right from the start of the race. Try to take onboard 250-300 calories per hour. It’s amazing how the mind and body can turn around after a small meal. Love your content. And good luck on your upcoming 100km race!

Nobody and no markers by the confusing bit. Marshall stood by the whacking great arrows lol.
Incredible, Ryan! I think lots of us know those moments when we're rationalising quitting, and I can't stress how much I would have felt it was ok to bail at the halfway mark if I was in your shoes (and I could never be able to get to that point to begin with). Hope you take some extra sense of achievement and self-belief from that. Being able to push on when your body is telling you to stop is super strong. Huge respect (as always).

Oh my lord, Ryan. You continue to amaze. Who the hell designed this route? Perhaps Satan himself? Not only absurdly hilly at marathon distance, but the terrain is ROUGH. The fact that you didn't break an ankle is a minor miracle. Then those stairs. I have vertigo as well. Long, steep stairs where you can see a long way down are particularly triggering for me. Hats off to you for facing that obstacle and going right through it. And then, at the halfway point, when you're already exhausted, and the temptation to just stop right there must be overwhelming, you go right back out there and do it all over again. Incredible. You are THE MAN.

My training roads! The school road out from the bottom of the golf course past the school to Gangers Hill is my usual way out to the Kent/Surrey hills on my bike. for some insight I'd have a look at HR at the bits where you are power waking up hills. Chances are you aren't miles stronger than others up them but they are holding back and pacing on the steep bits and you're going too hard even though its "just walking". (and this is adding up on this sort of run). Could be wrong but worth having a look as it may feel mentally easy to power up and get it over with but not be physiologically if you're in threshold HR. In short loads of elevation relatively destroys us on the heavier end.
