Making it a speed feat for Sonic. Going by your logic, any character that was resurrected in White Space would then be able to go on to do the same things Sonic did but they didn’t and that’s because they aren’t able to pull off the same feats that Sonic did. The only characters that may have been able to pull off what Sonic did are Shadow, maybe Silver by a stretch and Metal Sonic. However both of the former mentioned characters had their memories screwed up by the Time Eater, due to Silver being from a different timeline and Shadow who had suffered from memory problems previously meaning he was vulnerable to the Time Eaters powers as the Time Eater brought his memories back to where it was in Sonic Adventure 2 and confused him. Plus Metal Sonic wouldn’t be any help considering he’s never been on Sonics side anyways. Also there is literally no evidence to suggest the Time Eater had been “weakened” like you say. So yes, Undead Batman is correct and that was Sonics speed and acceleration doing the work of bringing back space and time, not him “remembering” anything
I like the fact they replicate Mario's physics into a Sonic game that goes to show that how huge Sonic levels are and with Mario's moveset in a Sonic game he struggles to get through a level
I mean they didn’t just replicate it they straight up injected the original physics into this game (because you actually need a sm64 rom to use this mod)
Honestly, if the guy who threw this together develops it more, I hope he'll tweak Mario's speed to better suit this game. Being able to build momentum on the ground without changing anything else would make this _insanely_ fun.
It seems like the whole thing was just an experiement to see if they could port the mario character controller to a different game and it's kind of an intereting to see that movement clash with sonic level as a weird case study. Though I wouldn't be apposed to a adjusted moveset that makes the game more playable (ie. Sonic Robo Blast 2 Mario mod)

@@suckapunch565 I don't think that's necessary. Mario just needs proper ground momentum that's typical with Sonic games, and he needs to be reworked to be able to run up and around slopes. With how BLJs work, that would only work if you understand how to keep all of that momentum by sliding backwards(I still don't know how to do it).
Funny video. Talking seriously, I think Sonic is a better character than Mario, but Nintendo has done a good job handling the Mario franchise than Sega, so Sonic hadn't reached his full potential.

Nintendo does this thing where they want you to put yourself in as the main character so they don't give them a personality or take away any character they did have when they translate it from the Japanese, like in breath of the wild in the Japanese version link is the one making the note on the Sheikah slate and it shows him to be a really caring person, but in the English version is just the sheikah slate itself making the note so we just decided that he was a crazy guy doing dumb stuff all the time. Like I can still care about a Character if they have a personality, I think the sonic community can agree with me on that
And that's the sad nature of Sonic, he still hasn't matured enough to be able to keep all of his games a steady and enjoyable experience through each installment. Sonics current games I haven't even touched, I tried Unleashed, and ho boy that was a headache to beat.

Also Marios backwards long jump is still weaker than Sonic. As Sonic, he can use D-speed and M-speed which are essentially what the backwards long jump is to Mario but to Sonic, so it’s the same thing and clips through the level all the same but is even faster than the backwards long jump because it’s using Sonics momentum instead

Marios momentum in gameplay is slower than Sonic, both techniques work by screwing with the characters speed and momentum, which it’s a fact that Sonic in gameplay has more of. So Sonics M and D-speed will build momentum faster and move faster than Marios backwards long jump. Additionally, Marios backwards long jump needs a few seconds to even get that fast where as M-speed and D-speed happen almost instantly if you do them correct.
@@Mo-. Elevator BLJs in the original game can reach literally infinite speed which will crash the game. Or you can just get to a very large floating point speed. In this mod ceiling bljs are probably faster with a long enough ceiling. Although obviously M/D speed can be used almost anywhere.
Objectively speaking, Sonic and Mario are very different from each other from a gameplay perspective. I don’t think one is better than the other. I love both characters, but keep in mind that the game design philosophy of both series is very different.
I kinda like to see it as a symbiotic relationship. Mario serves as the series that's more slow and relaxing with simpler stories for people who want to have a more calm gaming experience while Sonic is more fast paced and energetic with more complex stories that has the player more invested than usual. They compliment each other in a way.

Even still it’s strange how Mario’s only notable quirk is “jump” Sonic can usually jump more in most of his games,and doesn’t take fall damage to unlike the plumber (Not trying to argue,just my thought how weird a quirk of jumping actually is when it isn’t really demonstrated properly besides the Mario and Luigi rpgs which they themselves killed off)

I know another reason: bouncing on enemies while holding jump. In Mario games, there's a set height. In Sonic games, the height a) depends on the height of the platform, and b) continues to increase as long as the jump button is held
All jokes aside, Im amazed by the amount of effort this mod took, this is insane! If there's one thing we can agree on, it's that both Nintendo and Sega fans make the most wonderful fan projects, mods, and games in general.

Let's just say everyone have their own opinion on the topic on who's better when both are good series it just depends on what you like in video games more or the characters themselves that make you lead more to them considering that each Mario game have different plot and game play same goes for Sonic Zelda Kirby Pokemon and many other series that we grow to love as kids and adults.

Jokes aside, Mario was supposed to be slow to be an open world, unlike sonic that was supposed to run on obstacles to complete the level. There pretty different and that's what make them unique.
Ok with the speed arguement, I want to point out that in both their respective classic games they run about as fast as each other, smb1 and def smb2 lose some ground but smb3 and smw are even, Mario's actually faster if you count sma4 moonwalking (in the gba remake of smb3 for some reason holding both left and right on an emulator blasts you to the right at speeds faster then p-speed) but when not just mario but also sonic transitioned to 3d both moved noticeably slower (if you dont spam long jump or spindash), this is obviously so you could control yourself in this new 3rd dimension without having a panic attack, just think if you were blasting through sm64 and smb3 speeds, it would be unmanageable, but in the future both got expansions to the 3d moveset, so while sm64 mario might not be able to beat sonic gens levels odyssey mario probably could, it's the same thing if you put sadx sonic in mario odyssey (while being fair enough to give him custom code allowing him to to 2d, but not possess since that's possible due to Mario's hat, not the game environment), he wouldnt be able to deal with some of the platforming, getting past the frog room would be hard enough! Now if you put odyssey mario in gens and gens sonic in odyssey they would probably get through the games slower and struggle at some parts, but still get through with the same amount of difficulty and time (since both games are different lengths time would be measured as, time taken to beat with char swap on average/time take to beat normally on average).

theyre different types of games. it's like saying hat in time is better than celeste because it's 3d. but anyone knows both are suuuuper different games with their own awesome merits. It you like speed, awesome! But mario isnt about speed, its about precise platforming. BOTH are awesome, and thats just straight up fact. Put sonic in a mario level, and the flaws will be evident.

I am a Sonic FIEND. That being said Mario as a brand shits on Sonic. However I think Sonic 3 and the adventure series was well beyond anything Mario made at least until Odyssey.

I've always been in the camp of Sonic >>> Mario. I just hate that Sonic Team doesn't maximize his potential to bring credence with that viewpoint. Instead they just squander his potential over and over and over again with pointless fowl ups. Sonic Forces just utterly destroyed Sonic's credibility and the fact that SEGA has gone so long without posting another Sonic game and aren't constantly pumping out info on the newest Sonic game that's going to release is very telling. Though I don't think Mario's latest hits (outside of Mario Maker 2) have been bangers either. Nintendo fans love to jerk off Mario Odyssey but frankly I don't see the hype. It's a semi-open world collect-a-thon game, so what? Mario already had that and with a better plot. Wanna know what it was called? "Super Mario Galaxy" and at least in that game its soundtrack was iconic and Mario actually got a great ending in that game. In Odyssey what did Mario get at the end of it? Nothing. Peach just shoved them both aside and threatened to leave them on the moon. On top of that the Music is forgettable too. Mario Galaxy's OST is so iconic you can literally hum them 10 years later off of raw muscle memory. Odyssey? Lets Do The Odyssey is the only song in that game people actually talk about. And that's not even the only dud. Mario Tennis, Mario Golf Super Rush, and Paper Mario: Origami King have all been clowned on. Mario Tennis and Mario Golf Super Tour have been ripped to shreds for being bare bones basic games with next to no content that was getting drip fed through paid DLC and Origami King has been tossed aside by classic Paper Mario fans. So while Sonic's games haven't been the best as of late Mario hasn't been hitting any serious bangers either. While I still hold Sonic in a higher regard with better characters and better adventures it's easy to admit Mario's games (while still lazy uninspired trash) are better than what Sonic's been getting these days. But despite this I find Sonic to be the better gaming mascot than the red plumber guy.
I agree with many things you said, but I have to disagree on Mario Galaxy being better than Odyssey. Mario's movement in Galaxy is kinda cluncky and slow, he cant even dive, while on Odyssey he has so many cool and interesting moves. I also liked how Odyssey's world are more open, something I had been missing since Sunshine and 64. However, I have to agree that Galaxy has the best OST
I mean yeah, gameplay wasn't perfect. It was on the Wii which was just a cheap PS2 dressed up like a Mac PC. Of course there was gonna be performance issues. But it's despite those performance issues that Galaxy STILL defied expectations and defined an entire console generation for Nintendo. To the point where, like I said above, people STILL love this game to pieces and can hum any song in that game on pure raw muscle memory. A game with dated controls doesn't bring down its value in spite of that, it defines a genre and becomes more valuable as a gem DESPITE all of that. The fact that Odyssey, a game that logically would look/feel/control better due to being on a naturally more powerful console is largely forgotten in this day and age while I can go to any Nintendo forum and still find people talking about Galaxy speaks utter *_volumes_* about how Odyssey was ultimately handled. The game is a safe forgettable software when compared to the older Mario games that came before it. Even with Odyssey's attempt at an open world it still feels empty. The best comparison I could make to a current Nintendo game would be Kirby's Lost World. That game also has open worlds (basically given how large each level is) and it feels more lively than Odyssey. Heck this is coming from someone that hasn't even touched a Kirby game since Super Star Ultra on the DS, Kirby feels more like what Odyssey should've been. Interesting mechanics, vast lush worlds with environments that react uniquely to Kirby's powers and you can use Kirby's powers to interact with levels to get to hidden secrets. I can't recall a single time where Mario's cap abilities was used to find unique ways to solve puzzles where it wasn't spelled out for you. I dunno man, Odyssey just didn't click with me, felt like a serious step down from Mario games given they had far better tech now than they did with the Wii yet the Wii still made iconic bangers left right and center despite hardware hampering and limitations.
They are equal in greatness. Period. Sonic may be faster and more agile,but Mario is stronger and has a weight advantage. But,like I said,both are equal in terms of awesomeness.
But in terms of quality. Mario beats sonic in nearly all aspects basically every game except in music which I have to give to sonic for being way more diverse while still being top tier. When the Sonic game is good however, that’s a completely different story. Sonic will take the cake, for example, Sonic generations.

Objectively speaking, Sonic and Mario are very different from each other from a gameplay perspective. I don’t think one is better than the other. I love both characters, but keep in mind that the game design philosophy of both series is very different.
I kinda like to see it as a symbiotic relationship. Mario serves as the series that's more slow and relaxing with simpler stories for people who want to have a more calm gaming experience while Sonic is more fast paced and energetic with more complex stories that has the player more invested than usual. They compliment each other in a way.

Jokes aside, Mario was supposed to be slow to be an open world, unlike sonic that was supposed to run on obstacles to complete the level. There pretty different and that's what make them unique.

Ok with the speed arguement, I want to point out that in both their respective classic games they run about as fast as each other, smb1 and def smb2 lose some ground but smb3 and smw are even, Mario's actually faster if you count sma4 moonwalking (in the gba remake of smb3 for some reason holding both left and right on an emulator blasts you to the right at speeds faster then p-speed) but when not just mario but also sonic transitioned to 3d both moved noticeably slower (if you dont spam long jump or spindash), this is obviously so you could control yourself in this new 3rd dimension without having a panic attack, just think if you were blasting through sm64 and smb3 speeds, it would be unmanageable, but in the future both got expansions to the 3d moveset, so while sm64 mario might not be able to beat sonic gens levels odyssey mario probably could, it's the same thing if you put sadx sonic in mario odyssey (while being fair enough to give him custom code allowing him to to 2d, but not possess since that's possible due to Mario's hat, not the game environment), he wouldnt be able to deal with some of the platforming, getting past the frog room would be hard enough! Now if you put odyssey mario in gens and gens sonic in odyssey they would probably get through the games slower and struggle at some parts, but still get through with the same amount of difficulty and time (since both games are different lengths time would be measured as, time taken to beat with char swap on average/time take to beat normally on average).

I am a Sonic FIEND. That being said Mario as a brand shits on Sonic. However I think Sonic 3 and the adventure series was well beyond anything Mario made at least until Odyssey.

I've always been in the camp of Sonic >>> Mario. I just hate that Sonic Team doesn't maximize his potential to bring credence with that viewpoint. Instead they just squander his potential over and over and over again with pointless fowl ups. Sonic Forces just utterly destroyed Sonic's credibility and the fact that SEGA has gone so long without posting another Sonic game and aren't constantly pumping out info on the newest Sonic game that's going to release is very telling. Though I don't think Mario's latest hits (outside of Mario Maker 2) have been bangers either. Nintendo fans love to jerk off Mario Odyssey but frankly I don't see the hype. It's a semi-open world collect-a-thon game, so what? Mario already had that and with a better plot. Wanna know what it was called? "Super Mario Galaxy" and at least in that game its soundtrack was iconic and Mario actually got a great ending in that game. In Odyssey what did Mario get at the end of it? Nothing. Peach just shoved them both aside and threatened to leave them on the moon. On top of that the Music is forgettable too. Mario Galaxy's OST is so iconic you can literally hum them 10 years later off of raw muscle memory. Odyssey? Lets Do The Odyssey is the only song in that game people actually talk about.
And that's not even the only dud. Mario Tennis, Mario Golf Super Rush, and Paper Mario: Origami King have all been clowned on. Mario Tennis and Mario Golf Super Tour have been ripped to shreds for being bare bones basic games with next to no content that was getting drip fed through paid DLC and Origami King has been tossed aside by classic Paper Mario fans. So while Sonic's games haven't been the best as of late Mario hasn't been hitting any serious bangers either.
While I still hold Sonic in a higher regard with better characters and better adventures it's easy to admit Mario's games (while still lazy uninspired trash) are better than what Sonic's been getting these days. But despite this I find Sonic to be the better gaming mascot than the red plumber guy.
I agree with many things you said, but I have to disagree on Mario Galaxy being better than Odyssey. Mario's movement in Galaxy is kinda cluncky and slow, he cant even dive, while on Odyssey he has so many cool and interesting moves. I also liked how Odyssey's world are more open, something I had been missing since Sunshine and 64. However, I have to agree that Galaxy has the best OST
I mean yeah, gameplay wasn't perfect. It was on the Wii which was just a cheap PS2 dressed up like a Mac PC. Of course there was gonna be performance issues. But it's despite those performance issues that Galaxy STILL defied expectations and defined an entire console generation for Nintendo. To the point where, like I said above, people STILL love this game to pieces and can hum any song in that game on pure raw muscle memory. A game with dated controls doesn't bring down its value in spite of that, it defines a genre and becomes more valuable as a gem DESPITE all of that. The fact that Odyssey, a game that logically would look/feel/control better due to being on a naturally more powerful console is largely forgotten in this day and age while I can go to any Nintendo forum and still find people talking about Galaxy speaks utter *_volumes_* about how Odyssey was ultimately handled. The game is a safe forgettable software when compared to the older Mario games that came before it.
Even with Odyssey's attempt at an open world it still feels empty. The best comparison I could make to a current Nintendo game would be Kirby's Lost World. That game also has open worlds (basically given how large each level is) and it feels more lively than Odyssey. Heck this is coming from someone that hasn't even touched a Kirby game since Super Star Ultra on the DS, Kirby feels more like what Odyssey should've been. Interesting mechanics, vast lush worlds with environments that react uniquely to Kirby's powers and you can use Kirby's powers to interact with levels to get to hidden secrets. I can't recall a single time where Mario's cap abilities was used to find unique ways to solve puzzles where it wasn't spelled out for you.
I dunno man, Odyssey just didn't click with me, felt like a serious step down from Mario games given they had far better tech now than they did with the Wii yet the Wii still made iconic bangers left right and center despite hardware hampering and limitations.
