IT IS 1000% worthy to Install Lineage OS or any Custom ROM, but Google is ruining it by introducing stricter Play Integrity. May be if that level of Locking come to life Custom ROMs will be dead :(
Thats most ironically. Google developing Android till nowdays, but he fighting the AOSP developers with stricter PlayIntegrity
People flashing custom ROMs are the ones most loyal to android. Pity Google's actually fighting against them.
lineage feels like home
you can use lineage os without Google easily.... you don't need Google at all
No it won't.
Putting LineageOS on a OnePlus phone is so refreshing. It brings the software back to what made me love their phones initially.
Smartphones have peaked. Aside from heavy gaming, they’re perfectly fine at pleasing all of the human senses. Do you need an 8k display on a screen that big? Would you notice? No. Will you eventually need to take videos in 24k that your human eyes are not capable of appreciating? No. The human ear only has such a range that it can hear sound, etc., etc., etc.
Give me Linux proper and I'll agree.
I remember same thing people saying back in 2010-2011 days. Who needs phone with dual core cpu? (LG Optimus 2x), who needs phone with 720p resolution? (It was one of HTC phones I don't remember the name). and so on. There was even some point when people were arguing about pixel density, on how much exactly our eyes can see. So yeah, by this logic, smartphones peaked 15 years ago.
Image sensors.
With that attitude we never get anywhere. I thought smartphones display peak at 2018 but 2024 phones still bring new better displays
8k/24k or whatever higher resolution is to play contents on bigger displays... Louder range sound for large stadiums/concerts etc etc. I agree we don't need those numbers in smartphones but irl we do. If a small compatible smartphone help achieve those and make life easier then why not? :)
It's not only that you can extend lifespan of your smartphone with flashing custom roms. Custom roms can often give you better performance, better battery life, ram management. I had Evolution X on my Poco F3. At some point I tried Xiaomi EU rom, and it was nowhere near close to the EvoX performance, especially in ram management area. I could easily have 10 tabs opened without refreshing the page while switching between, Xiaomi EU hardly held 3 tabs without eventually refreshing the page while switching from one to another.
Not to mention how custom rom saved my Galaxy S back in 2010-2011. That phone was unusable with the Touchwiz stock rom.
From miui to custom rom is a huge difference everyone knows this
Evolution X is really good
I have an f3 and have no idea how to flash it
Help me please 😢
My first custom rom experience was using it in my galaxy s2 and you're right ...touchwiz sucks
😮
I have installed it on my beloved Google Pixel 3A XL and it works really well, it has come back to life
Son of Cyanogen, they always pop out of nowhere!😂🎉😅
CyanogenMod + ClockworkMod recovery, installing Cyanogen themes for Android marshmallow from the playstore, then suddenly the theming engine stopped working on android 8.0 :(
My Sony XA2 (Pioneer) stopped receiving updates after 9 which is too early for Android Auto. 21 worked fine 22 works even better.
I was there back in the CyanogenMod days helping to get Froyo on the Captivate (AT&T Galaxy S variant) so going with Lineage made sense to me.
i really respect you sir :)
thanks for staying at xda.
Same with Moto x4. It is probably the weakest phone (with SD 630) to be supported by the LOS22, and I'm guessing this the last update for this phone, cause similar performance Exynos 850 powered Samsung Galaxy A13 is also going to get it's last official One UI 7 update soon based on Android 15 in Feb 2025.
Custom ROMs are now only applicable to old devices, new low and mid range devices which are having up to 2 years of OS updates as most of the OEMs are providing 4+ years of OS updates for their flagship series. That being said, less and less OEMs are getting lenient enough to allow their devices to unlock the bootloader.
RIP Moto G84
It should have received it's only 1 year of update by now as Android 15. 😅
Just flashed LineageOS 22 into a OnePlus 6, looks great so far
Any problems? I have oneplus6T
@@MrHat nop no problems , (Typing from 6T lineage 22.1)
@@raaja4443 thanks bro for sharing your experience
But hey Oneplus is not even on the supported devices list. How did you install. Does that mean I can install on mine too. It's an Oppo
Hey I'm using OnePlus 6 and it's a bit laggy so was thinking of flashing this rom, should I go for it?
I would really love to go back doing custom ROM if not for banking apps, I know there are some workarounds but its very volatile to maintain it.
This rom makes Pixel 4a's usable again after the battery update... if it is a smart idea: I don't know: maybe not... but it works.
I heard Google recently fucked up a lot of 4a's after the battery update.
@@MayankKumar-ru5xe yeah... it's really baaaaad! Like... charge a phone every 2 hours bad. (without usage)
😮
Bro same issue happened with my device.. Can you please confirm gpay & teams works on Lineage OS?? Also can you share steps to flash?
Battery health %??
Run AccuBatery and let us know; only then we can conclude. @@MrFlauxhol
I've been running version 22 since the release week on a OnePlus 7 Pro used for gaming and emulation... Working beautifully so far. Amazing project!
I put this on my Pixel 2 XL runs great
Beautiful phone
How did your put it plz
Brother, is this ROM pre-installed with the default GCam, or can we install it from the Play Store?
@@kenkc84 lineageos website helps step by step
Do you lose the unlimited GPhotos backup?
I have been using CrDroid as my daily driver for like 4 years. This rom is based on lineage and adds more customization. Never going back to stockOS again 😁😁
Do Indian banking apps work on it?
@@ichrome99 Depends on how stringent they are. Some apps refuse to run if they detect mods, others only complain about root. It is possible to get SafetyNet and Play Integrity working fully, but it's a pain.
How about Bank apps
Have to root with magisk for bank apps
@@MenacingPerson actually, it's the complete opposite for me. My banking apps work by default, but if magisk is installed, it needs to be hidden. I just don't root at all.
Flashed it on my OnePlus 8T. It has been a great experience, much better than oxygenos in my opinion
Yeah same for me as well feel much smoother than the stock one
Also to mention that several other custom roms use lineage as a base.
LOS works great with MicroG, a good replacement for googlr and we can pass PI. LOS did add charge control but its not with passthrough power.
Passthrough power is available depending on device hardware support. Not all devices support passthrough power.
I just recently unlocked my old Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 7, and flash Evo X ROM based on Android 14 on both, it was mind blowing and it makes it usable again, the performance and camera quality has greatly improved, both was barely usable on their final MIUI versions before I flashed it.
I am using lineage OS 22 since the release in the 1 january, on my Xperia 1 II. it is a fastastic OS, and the comunity on XDA modded the xperia 1V camera to work on AOSP on xperia 1II, it is better than when it was new.
I purchased a pre owned Pixel 5, put lineage os on it and it is probably the best smart phone experience I have had, way better than my iPhone 15 which I can sell for 5x the price lol.
Today I have installed Lineage OS 21, cause 22.1 is not supported for my Poco X3 NFC. Great OS. I am amazed it brought new life to my phone! Love Lineage OS!
How's the battery life compared to the stock Miui
@medmx8670 I have an impression, that battery consumption is bigger here, I think I will notify you when I double check it.
@@stefanbogdanovic590 I appreciate it, cause I have the same phone, and I wanna flash a custom rom and I'm rooting for pixel os since I have already tested a while ago, battery life and stability is what I'm looking for
@@stefanbogdanovic590 That's quite common, since MIUI likes to kill apps in the background to save battery. Stock Android is not as aggressive
@@lubomirbrousek194 ok true, makes sense. Thanks for the info!
I daily drive a Poco F5 on it's stock ROM and have a secondary Poco F3 phone which i have flashed with LineageOS from 20.1 to 22.1, i do love the buttery light smoothness of the custom rom, the only drawback that i can't use it as my main daily driver is that nowadays most banking apps even telco apps lock us from using it on custom roms. I also have a slew of old phones like MI A1, MI A3 and Poco F1 still chugging along just fine being used by my nephew/nieces which i have flashed LineageOS too. I am really thankful for all these custom rom developers in giving a lifeline to all these old devices, hope it will go on until the future. 👍👍
I have the exact setup you have. lol. Poco F5 Pro and Poco F3. I've been pondering about installing a custom ROM on my Poco F3, but what keeps me is that banking apps won't let me install them anymore, which is so stupid.
@arshtat yes, it really is stupid, even some non banking apps are putting restrictions too.. Miss the old times of slapping on custom cyanogenmod rom not having to worry if any apps wouldn't run on it etc. 🥲🥲
I use LOS 21 on my 5 years old Poco X3 NFC at it works great. Hopefully we will get LOS 22 support too.
Just updated my FP3, works like a charm. I've never used a "stock" rom, like I've never used a "stock" OS on a PC.
Flashed lineage os 18 on my fake iphone i got from china and the rom is a good one and is decent enough for basic gaming and loght streemline experience, twrp was required to flash it
LineageOS is great, it's a shame it's barely available for anything anymore. No Samsung, no Xiaomi, Google is basically the only brand thats available any more. I'm aware these manufactuers don't make it easy but man the good days are really over.
Running LineageOS 22.1 here on my oneplus 6t, runs perfect!
Is there hide notch option in developer settings?
I love lineageos, everytime I change phones I just installed in on my old one and ended up loving it again, also it has helped revive some of my old tablet! I'm now considering installing it on my tab s7 a sit sucks in 13, only wish it was easier to install, I have a Redmi note 10 pro which apparently has no compatible lineageos (because it's the Chinese version and there's only rooms for the global one)
Enjoying this video on my OnePlus 9 pro with LOS 22. Thanks to the developers for keeping my phone alive.
People say that now phones have 7 years of update as if all phones from these companies have the same level of support
I used to flash lineage os on all my android devices. But when I got the Pixel 6 that stopped. But this looks really good and just might make me return to flashing
Hello can I install lineage on Techno spark4
I use this rom on Galaxy S10,S10+ and it runs pretty good.
On the Galaxy s20+ i have Lineagos 21 with Android 14.
I use all of this phones every day without issues.
Average Joe here: if we install this custom ROM, will it get update/upgrade via OTA, or do we need to install it manually?
Weekly OTA updates! And if you wanna take it a step further I do believe there's an option to even get NIGHTLY updates as well!!
@@i_josh_smith_tech is this worth doing to a current Pixel 9 Pro XL? I haven't dabbled in ROMs since my Galaxy Note 8 lmao
@@mitchellnash8628 I have a 9ProXL myself and honestly I don't believe it is worth it. You're gonna miss out on a lot of features that you get with a pixel including gcam not to mention Google going down on custom roms and updating play integrity would cause you a lot of headache. I love custom roms and I have nameless installed on my OnePlus 8T but this is getting to a point where it's not worth doing on supported phones anymore
@@mitchellnash8628 why not? if you get issues you can always go back to stock
@@mitchellnash8628 use grapheneos instead bro
I sold my backup phone and now they are releasing that build. Damn you!
Running Lineage OS 22.1 on my OnePlus 6T and getting good use from it as my backup device. Love the fact that I can get the latest Android patches on a great device.
Is there hide notch option in developer settings?
Nice to see this now after the pixel 4a battery fiasco, now give us an install guide.
Lineage os has been one of the most reliable custom roms ive used. Only customized one what has ever come par to that was resurrection remix.
Lineage focuses on stability, and they do it well. They dont rush with updates.
I'm running Lineage OS 22.1 one my Motorola edge 2021 it's been 8 months and it seems like this is smoothest custom ROM
You forgot to provide a link to Lineage OS in the description.
Amazing updates 👏🙏
Backup or spare... Broda i use it as daily driver
I just have a basic question: can I switch it back to android after flashing a new ROM? Or how safe is it?
As safe as ON YOUR OWN RISK 😆
Usually yes, but before you do it, have a copy of your old rom made in recovery. And also a way to install stock from a PC. I revived a few phones from a brick but once i could not get nvram working so that phone just lost its 4G capability. Do at your own risk.
It's fairly easy to go back to stock and it's safe generally. But you do need to know what you're doing, just in case you mess things up.
using it on my xiaomi mi 9 lite , it's awesome , i just have 2 major issues 1. 3 finger screenshot gesture 2. using google assistant to copy image , text , and translate anything anywhere
Thanks for the review, Damien!
Links don't appear to be in the description
How about calyx os and graphene os? I would like some comparisons 👀
You should review more roms. Take some steps beyond bland vanilla
Is there a download option for their stock apps?
I used this rom on my old redmi 7,, very smooth performance like cutting butter with knife,, just one problem after i install this rom, my device ear piece sounds are getting 50% volume down than stock miui...😢
The lineage os music app would be perfect if it could browse music by folders.
could you please check for me if banking apps work or it will give you a message as if the phone was tampered with or rooted? Thank You
safety net checks and banking apps which refuses to run on custome roms are making it hard to use them. i know there is work around but it is unreliable. i have a older phone running custom rom which i love, i hope this changes back to old times.
Looks nice!
i really want to download it for my samsung note 20 but it doesnt support it...
I have a google pixel 2. I'm planning to download this, but I have a question. Does the Lineage OS affects the original camera capabilities of my pixel 2?
Are custom roms that much safe as if we are on stock ui like realme ui oxygen os pixel ui or one ui with manufacturer orignal os updates and security patch updates ???? Are these updates same in custom roms i mean are they provided by google or custom rom developer??
What's the better for Redmi note 10 pro " lineageOS or pixel OS"
Does Google Wallet work for tap to pay?
Too bad only a select few manufacturers let you unlock the bootloader nowadays.
On the contrary, my galaxy S9 is technically on the latest version of OneUI available for anything other than the S25 lineup. Works like a charm and _isnt_ in a landfill. All because of custom roms being a thing.
I remember the times when a custom rom was almost a necessity to make a phone usable. CyanogenMod, AOKP, Paranoid Android.
Does these types of ROMs have security built on it?
Custom ROMs usually makes it easy to eliminate the garbage blowtware that OEMs impose. For ex. Pixel phones are as good as the GrapheneOS installed on them. Too bad there's no OEM pushing for real open source.
I would use it on mi9t but then I lose my banking apps...
crDroid and EvolutionX are GOATed
Watching on my Xiaomi Pad 5 with LineageOS 22.1 and I saw the video notification on my Poco F5 also with LineageOS 22.1
Do these custom ROMs work with banking apps and such? It'd be great if that was the case.
Needs to focus more on system optimisations like drivers of network, Bluetooth, speaker, wifi etc.. rather than new features
Does it have Gemini on it or another form of rouge Ai...that would be the best... whenever we start to get Ai roms
Skip the "A" and use your own "I", bruh.. Before it's too late and that "I" will rather stand for Imbecile instead of Intelligence. 👈👀
P.s I'm just pulling your leg.☺️
AI is by default built on Google Messages and Whatsapp, and it works wonderfully.
You don't necessarily need to rely on Gemini, Copilot, Chat GPT, etc, just to get answered simple queries.
Does this also work for tablets? Well i just check the device list and the tablet is not there so while its nice...its only for specific phones
I'm using LinageOS 22. on Razer Phone 1 and it's smooth and Only problem I had is 60Hz option and display resalution can't change! other than that It's a good ROM
How's the camera?
8:06 didn't that battery manager already there since Lineage 19?
I've installed this on my old galaxy a52s 5g and moto g9plus, it's GREAT
Huawei do not release their system, or how to unlock for give them more time without their own system
The problem that dont let me to install lineage os is the problem with bank app dont work due safety net
guys, i have a Samsung Galaxy S8, do you think i should get a costum rom, if yes which one
Definitely. Get LinneageOS 21, it supports the Galaxy S8 with Android 14 and security patches.
what about the LineageOS 22@@ItsNicolau
Mostly you will face volte issue 😅. It's a bonus from samsung
@Who_asked192 if you go to the lineage OS 22 website you can see which devices are supported
It does not mention the Galaxy S8 as supported for v22
@@iam_muni_baa so the 21 should be fine
Does the Pixel retain its native camera capabilities?
GrapheneOS is also an option. Not sure why the title says only sustainable option.
Excelente que está em pt-br!
I use Xiaomi eu because of how they handle Play integrity. On other ROMs you are on your own. Here if something stops working there are already an update i forgot to install.
My phone is unflashable due to, uh, country specific SKU and a locked bootloader without the option to unlock it. I've, however, used Lineage on a tablet and it's great.
Wish I could use this on my Samsung s10e, but apparently my version is not supported.
using 22.1 unofficial build on redmi 7a. excellent battery life.
When do we get a working desktop mode?
I'm waiting for webcam type of connection to PC like some android phone can. Phone cameras is much better then regular webcams
What i always face problem is Google app store is NOT VERIFIED. Help
I wish the Samsung z flip/fold series got some love my z fold 4 can feel a little sluggish with one UI
If only more phones were supported.
None of mine are.
:(
if you have an old phone or a xiaomi phone, custom ROM really worth to install
was thinking of switching but not being able to limit charge is a deal breaker
I am able to limit charge on lienageos 21 but it might depend on the device.
Can I flash it to my Blackview Tab 7 wifi? I hate my tablet's stock OS it's too slow
I think the focus of Google and LineageOs for Android should be Desktop Mode.
but can we use bank apps with this?
I have a pixel 2, what's the best custom rom that ican use?
Lineage OS runs like a dream on my oneplus 5t the only problems encountered are by Google which causes problems with banking apps and Gpay, the only way to fix them is to root :C
Misleading! LineageOS only support few devices under each brand name. I am using Sony Xperia XZ, but under sony LineageOS hardly support enough old phones. Same is samsung. So on.... The reality is there is no singular custom rom development program which genuinely support most of the older devices as a mission. Sadly even Graphene OS. Hence this should be a EU funded programme under the "right to repairability" mission. Some organisation should be funded by EU that will develop custom rom for old devices.
Would this work on my Samsung S2 phone? That device refuses to die!
is there a way to change those hideous stock icons on lineageos??
Tiene clonación de apps, modo lockdown habilitado, con launcher de terceros funcionan los gestos ?
I find GrapheneOS interesting but I don't plan on using a custom OS on my primary device
Is it possible to have this LineageOS run on Tablet ? Specifically Infinix XPad.
