As an aviation professional who’s been watching your videos for a long time, yet never commented. I’d just like to say how professionally you handled this approach. You showed your briefing and prep work, juggled both a Unicom and centre frequency and talked us through your personal minimums of an acceptable tailwind on a narrow and short runway. On Unicom you used resources available to you such as asking another aircraft (who is likely familiar with the field and nuances of the wind there) and went with his recommendation. Topped it off with a lovely approach and a textbook short field landing technique, wing slightly into the wind. 10/10 - this video should be used as a learning tool.
Very good comments and observations.. Genius at work, he makes things look very easy.. really very difficult approach made look easy
Hi Ben, First off… Thank you very much for your kind words. Glad you enjoyed the video and happy you commented! As you know I strive to be the safest and most professional pilot I can be so I’m glad it came across in this video! Hope you have a great summer. Take care. Thanks again!
Well said man. Well said!
@@CitationMax Do you own the citation? If so, how did u get the money?
@@blastofo His dad owns a charter company and that's who he flies for. Not saying he bought the plane for him, but I'm sure they have ways of acquiring them that the average person doesn't.
I love that he always uses his written checklist instead of memory. THIS is dedication to flight safety. He goes through the list fastidiously in detail and checks EVERYTHING! Perfection.
Thank you! Appreciate your kind words. Take care
As my mentor is fond of saying "the faintest pen is better than the finest memory". Great video Max. Your parents have raised a awesome son.
I have committed to myself that I have to. One of my weaknesses is recalling lists. I'll reach for the card without any ego.
What a neighborhood. I bet the air smells like cool crisp one hundred dollar bills. Lol. Great video, Max! 😜🤙🏽
Or smells like unburnt JA1...
Yup that’s Wyoming
I googled Alpine, WY. It looks exactly like the show Longmire!
Jet fuel and mountain air are basically my two favorite smells.
Smells more like 1000$ bill 😉
That tender standing out there - at first - i thought this was MSFS! LOL!!! Beautiful aircraft!
Max, thanks for another wonderful ride along . I’m 80 years old, happily living alone with my dawg in a single wide trailer, you give me the opportunity to imagine how the other half lives. I appreciate your attitude and professionalism and always look forward to the next ride.🇨🇦
I am not as old as you Wayne but thought you might like this quote from Pablo Picasso Everything you can imagine is real. Best Regards Neil
Wayne, here's a video I recommend to everyone. I hope you like it. ruclips.net/video/ocHm18wUAGU/видео.html

Hope your having a wonderful evening :)
Maybe it's time to start hangin out at the airport ;)
Max I am a pilot in a SR22T with 700 hours I love watching you videos. You rock.
You've got to love cool approaches like this one.
"Twenty-five knots to the nose." Nice runway pick buddy! And as always, great video.
As a corporate pilot that is retired I appreciate your professionalism.
Thank you! Appreciate your kind words
The best channel which will motivate you to become a pilot
Thank you!
Great job
Nice views from above the clouds on that flight.
I work in an office park right next door to KHPN. I've watched planes taking off and landing for the past 10 years so I wonder how many times it was you I was watching.
You make that look so easy. 4 hours of boredom then WAKEUP!! Nice job.
As we always said in the Navy keep your eye on the meatball.
29:14 I wonder how many celebrities hangars you’re passing? That place is gorgeous.
I received my Navy wings in 1986. Seeing the cockpit in this video with all the advanced electronics and screens I think I was flying a Sopwith Camel.
I am in awe of these viedos you make.
In the voice of Yoda,
"one to make jealous, you is !
That approach left me speechless. BEAUTIFULLY done Max, that was not an easy one!
Great video, I worked for Cessna in Orlando Florida for 33 years. 👍
The condo sized home is a million bucks, the big houses are 4 and 5 million. It’s quite funny, looks like the end of the runway pokes into Idaho by a few feet, it’s that close to the Idaho/Wyoming border. I totally want to move there.
Thanks for taking us along for the ride Max, we snowmobile just south of Alpine an Afton Wyoming, beautiful country. Love the rides with Max and Premier 1 Driver!
Ah very cool! Such a gorgeous part of the country. Thanks for watching!
Home sweet home!!! the approach over palisades never gets old
It’s very special!! Such a cool place
I enjoy it when CitationMax flies out West. Grew up near KIDA so I spent a lot of time on and around Palisades boating, fishing, camping, hiking.
Beautiful the mountains remind me of the Southern Alps in New Zealand. I'm currently training there 😄
I love flying out of Westchester, only in a piston plane ,lol. Thank you for sharing the great views
As a kid, a hotel in Alpine is designed like a Swiss inn, we would stay there frequently instead of in Jackson Hole. An ice cream parlor below with waffle cones... and I always thought the entire lake from Swan Valley up thru to Alpine reminded me of places in Bavaria. We'd take the RV and meet up with grandparents and others with their RV. Was a quick drive from Pocatello.
I'm only in my late 30's, but I haven't been those parts since I moved from Idaho Falls in '04 to Boise.
Now, I feel freaking old :(
We would do a few day trips, miss them.
Weekend drives to the mountains in fall or early spring, was cozy sometimes bringing a grandparent along.
Sometimes we would do the entire circle from Poky to Idaho Falls to Swan Valley thru to Alpine (for longer day trips stop at Jackson Hole) then to Montpelier (sometime we'd divert and spend time at Bear Lake if we didn't stop at Jackson) then to Soda Springs to Lava Hot Springs and back to Pocatello.
Always found that particular trip funny starting north and coming back from the south. One big circle.
I think we did it in reveres a few times going thru Lava Hot springs first and around back to Poky.
You stirred my memories up :)
Thanks :)
CitationMax: Questions:
1. Why do you do these flight runs to these locations? Is it to pick up and fly passengers?
2. How can you understand the radio communications, they sound muffled and almost incomprehensible, whilst also being able to process and action what ATC are saying because they speak so quickly.
3. Is there a format to communication with ATC and can you do a video explaining and breaking down the communication line by line.
4. Also what happens if you do not understand something (instructions given by) ATC? Panic?
Thank you! As always great video! Educational and informative.
I have an old high school friend in Alpine, WY! two actually! We all graduated from Lander, Wyoming in the 80's. I live in Sheridan, Wy these days.
This was a great video of the contrast between the ifr and VFR worlds and you handled both perfectly. I especially enjoyed that you flew everything manually when in a unknown environment. Nice work!
a time lapse from the climb at 25k to 43k would be cool ... love your videos Max!
max good 2 see u back flying................
Great flight...tnx Max!
These videos are on the short list of things my new born son will fall asleep to which is convenient because it gave me a reason to binge watch the channel!

Awesome! That was pretty sporty! Nicely done.
Nice flight over the beautiful Mountains👍
I've been watching TheFlightChannel too long, but it's great watching a flight video that doesn't end in a horrible crash.
This was really cool. Thanks for sharing your experience with us.

New favourite channel. Fantastic, calming videos to watch and super educational too. You will inspire many future pilots here.
Beautiful Mountain Views! Nice job Max on the landing! Looked like quite a bit of turbulence. Enjoyed the flight. Thanks.
Wow...final approach was spectacular. Respect Max.
Wow, the approach had me on the edge of my seat. Amazing flight.
Nice job landing. Great venue!
Thanks for the video, Max. Great to see Alpine. My stomping grounds were 30 miles south at AFO. Flying into, around, and over Star Valley is an amazing experience.
Thanks for providing us so many amazing views on this flight to Wyoming.
I remember growing up in Star Valley, no one had ever heard of Alpine except us. Then Jackson blew up and the Billionaires pushed Millionaires down to Alpine
True that. We have friends at the ranch
I remember when Alpine was just a place to get through to go to IF, Jackson, or Greys River... not what it is now! At least we always had AFO! I enjoyed working at Aviat and flying with the guys on Husky test flights, and the occasional Pitts ride too. I grew up in Fairview, you?
@@ChrisMcGinty lived in Fairview till about 8 then moved to Osmond.
Great flight awesome views thank you
All my respect for 2RF, he’s a legend! Flying my copilot dreams through you!

Hazy with the heat in the northeast and Florida has those lovely low puffy Florida clouds great to See Always ; nice work Max
Hi Max,
I just ran into your video stream and love it!! I'm a rusty 300 hour private pilot. I'm developing an aviation technology course in a small northern California town for high school students. I'm going to use your videos as inspiration for a group of kids that have never seen anything like this. Thank you so much for sharing. I know it's a lot of work to assemble footage and post it. You're appreciated.
Nice; thanks for sharing!
Great experience on that approach! Great vid!
Thanks for watching
Cheers for the upload, some decent viewing tonight 👍
Another epic flight the long way. Nice to see everything getting back to normal again. Lots of flights happening all around. I love Wyoming. Beautiful country there. Another great flight Max.

And that said I know where to go in the sim now. Thanks Max!
Yess an upload. Pls do more night flights. We all loved that one video
Sporty approach. Nice job Max. Thanks for the ride.
Thanks Bill!
Wow Max. This was exciting. Remembers me of flying into Austin Lakeway (3R9) with a C172/DA112 during my flight training back in 1997.
What a beautiful videos max… just continue
Looks like you were over my house in Michigan, I'm about 4 miles east of KGRR, and OMG that approach was crazy, that literally had me on the edge of my seat.
