One of my high school classmates (class of 1957) was a Gulfstream pilot. He just died this year. He and his fraternal twin brother earned their pilot's license while they were high school students. He is missed greatly.
I worked at Gulfstream's Bethany, OK plant from 1996 till that location closed in 2002. This was a rush seeing one of our planes in action. Thanks, Owen!
Thanks for the video. I just finished a 28 year career with Alaska Airlines flying the 737-4/7/8/9/Max series. I was intrigued to see that the preflight/FMS setup/Performance pages are very similar to the Boeings. I considered a post career in GA but I’m loving life on the farm in Missouri. I do miss the flying. 17,000+ hours Lots of different qualification both in military(Navy fighters) and Commercial. Thanks for a peak in your daily life.
As a private pilot working towards my instrument->commerial->cfi->1500 hours, this video has really made me consider going corporate over fedex, ups, or one of the majors. I really enjoyed the initial cockpit view, APU start up, and walk around. Keep up the great content and I appreciate you sharing the insight into your world as a corporate pilot!

Same. The only thing that concerns me is that I've heard some airlines won't accept, or it's harder to get into, one of those majors if you used to fly corporate. This means it might be better to start with a regional or major airline and then move to private/corporate afterward.

Some of you engineers and by some I mean most, need to get smacked in the face for some stupid ass designs. It should be a 5yr mandatory requirement for all engineers to be mechanics first, only then ya'll would realize how most things are designed to be not mechanic friendly
@Dean Snipah How long have you been an engineer? It's easy to cast stones and generalize. Angry outbursts on a positive posting does nothing to help. Like a toddler with a tantrum. You're not saying anything new. Instead, become that engineer and fix those designs. Otherwise, pipedown while the adults talk.
My mom is retired now but she was a 20 year corporate pilot including on the G4. I'm lucky to have gotten to fly on these beasts more times than I can count. Good to see you're enjoying it! 😎

I’m a retired corporate pilot, flew corporate all my career and I never had a gig like that. I always either had a uniform, or dressed in some sort of company attire. Even when we ferried a plane we had to wear what they called appropriate attire. Another never, I never had a owner ask me what time was convent for me, I was told what time they wanted to leave. I never flew charter, always for the owner and or corporation. Guess times have changed since I retired. Interesting.
Maybe it's just me, but I'd want my G4 pilot to look like an Air Force Colonel instead of a musician. But then again, I'm a marketer/business guy and not a musician myself lol!

We have casually dressed pilots at the FBO I work at all the time. It's pretty easy to tell who the pilot is (they look like they know what they're doing and will usually approach you to ask for services/fuel order).

You hit the nail on the head about getting along in the cockpit. I can think of a few times I wanted to choke the crap out of the other guy in the cockpit. People don't realize how horrible it can be to have the wrong team paired together. Friend of mine was invited to interview for a Gulfstream slot. He asked why they wanted to meet at a restaurant. Told him to check the interview mode at the door and just chill during lunch. Told him they were checking him out to see if they wanted to be around him in a cockpit and on the road. He got the job.
I've been working at Gulfstream since Dec 1986. Early in my career, for 4 years, I flew in the jumpseat of greenie GIVs as a production test flight tech. I loved that job!

I grew up on Sherman way and Woodley, amazing to see what happens behind the scenes. Definitely two different worlds🔥every time a jet takes off I just think, “boom someone’s time is more valuable sheeesh”

But when the USA industry put aside the 747-400s for passenger usage, well that really hurt. So, I have settled being on the 777s and yes, I have seen beautiful G-IVs and Cesena Citation Xs many times in LAX.

You can be ever so good of a pilot, but first you will need to convince the aircraft owner/operator that you should be sitting in the front seat vice a passenger seat. 😇😉

So good to see the hangers I built (Structural Superintendent) at the CL Flight Center back in the late 80s and early 90s. Also built the Gulfstream offices and hangers at Long Beach(1987-1988). In 1988 while that facility was under construction one of the hangers was used as a temporary Whitehouse for President Reagan....

This is such an amazing job. I’m currently 16 at the moment. Started my ppl a couple months ago and just did my first solo last week. I definitely want to be a pilot when I’m older and your video is such an inspiration. It’s awesome to see all the different opportunities in the aviation sector. Is there any chance you’d be willing to make a video/share with me how you became a private jet pilot? It seems like such an awesome job and maybe hopefully something I could do in the future. You can be ever so good of a pilot, but first you will need to convince the aircraft owner/operator that you should be sitting in the front seat vice a passenger seat. 😇😉

So good to see the hangers I built (Structural Superintendent) at the CL Flight Center back in the late 80s and early 90s. Also built the Gulfstream offices and hangers at Long Beach(1987-1988). In 1988 while that facility was under construction one of the hangers was used as a temporary Whitehouse for President Reagan....
