I am also an architecture student, I have been feeling very confused these days because I feel lost on what I wanna do in the future. Your videos are really motivating to me. Your works are amazing, I am actully feeling lucky to fing this channel!
This game is going to be so beautiful. I've been trying to find cooking games and I think this is going to be perfect. Day one purchase! Will you be doing an early access or beta when you get further along?
Happy that you are interested! I may do a beta sometime early next year. Will try to avoid early access, but either way the game will continue to be developed, even after the full release. Got a lot of cool content and world designs in the works. Didn't want to attempt some of those ideas until I felt more confident with pixel art. You haven't seen anything yet ;)
Its amazing seeing how confident you are using your voice after just a few videos. I'm learing information about art, architecture and game design all in 1 channel. Sure i have no actual use for this information but i'm glad to learn it. Now you've made this i could envision living in that sort of house, however i'd make a few tweaks if i were to live there Having the 2 sets of formal-ish chairs and tables on the first floor right next to each other seems a tad strange to me, maybe make the 'lounge' room (replace seats with more traditional sofa arrangement) area on the 1st floor have the tv from the 'bedroom' (less distractions for the 'writing room') Maybe close up some of the hole in the 2nd floor to make more of an 'adult entertaining area' where the writer would invite literary friends over for literary discussions etc? Extend lounges and table there towards the stairs. The lack of baluster on the stairs and a child scares me The balcony would be the perfect place for an outdoor bbq/dining area, Now if that house had upstairs balcony area with a view of the ocean at your seaside village ... *chef's kiss*
That configuration could definitely work! I guess it's a matter of what kind of activities you lead in a house. Some of the best architecture are from architects working together with some imaginative clients, and making designs that cater to their activities. I can definitely try something like that in another NPC's house. And yes, a lot of areas in the pixel version wouldn't meet building codes haha. I chose to focus more on aesthetics here than realism. The benefit of video game architecture is that you can lose a lot of the restrictions that limit real buildings
Yesterday, I just wanted to learn some pixel art. So come to RUclips and search for the tutorial. And I found the amazing work here... Well you made me more interested in pixel art even more. And I can't wait to play your game.
The DETAILSSSS and making it educational (thank you), aaaaa, also, your voice is soft and calming. Enjoyed the content you have created! HAVE A GOOD DAY!
You do such an amazing job explaining what you do. I think it's wonderful how you use your archetectual knowledge in your designs, and that you take the time to educate us about it too.
I like this approach...where you teach us architecture theory as you go along. And you show us how to bring life to the art with subtleties in variation from something that could be too repetitive. Really cool stuff, Noah.
I love your videos. Architecture and industrial design is my favorite parts of pixel art. Thank you so much for making these because I’m sure it’s a lot of time and effort!
I liked learning about served spaces and servant spaces. I was surprised to hear the kitchen was the latter. Everyone I know loves hanging out in the kitchen and kitchens are the first thing people notice when buying a house.
just found your account i dont know how you dont have millions of subs yet. soon im sure! this is fiiiiiiiire thank you so much for your art, your process, your videos, everything
REAALLY love the art! It's been so much fun to binge your videos! The only recomendation I can give is that the exterior and interior to the house can be a bit confusing. From the outside, the building look like it goes up and down, and yet when you enter it suddenly becomes right to left. It would probably be a pain to fix that now, so maybe just changing the direction of the outside would be easier. Also, cool idea. If these building are gonna be stuck closely together, you should be able to see them from each other. So that includes on top and in windows, and maybe you can even jump from window to window or roof to roof. Would add some really fun parkour element.
The overworld entrance to the house being located up, transitioning to the door inside suddenly being left could leave people confused, even with the defined entrance area, but i also appreciate that it would be difficult to style otherwise, and this build is way too pretty to change On another note though, idk if i missed it, but at 14:37, here does the door and small staircase on the far right by the kitchen lead to?
Someone please explain why this video hasn't been picked up by the almighty algorithm... Seriously high quality content! Keep it up! Amazing art and design tips as well.
The little houses with the futuristic doors and snow capped roofs are freaking amazing man! I'm going to buy this game just to walk around and let my imagination run free
Wooow!! This looks amazing! Also good that you will be full time on the game! I laughed when you said you found an empty lot... Man, you own the whole land 😆👍! Great Work!!
Awesome video! It just popped into my recommended but wish it had earlier. Your art is gorgeous and well crafted and was enjoyable to hear your explanation and reasoning for your design choices and it made the video a lot more enjoyable to watch. One suggestion I could give you may be to have the walls that disappear when entering the bathroom for example fade to a low opacity rather than the sudden disappearance of the wall. Would be more visually appealing. It's a very niche suggestion but great work otherwise. Liked & Subbed :)
Yeah, I loved it. There are so many tiny details that show a lot of work behind. Maybe sometime you could do tutorials! That could make you have new audience to the project, and you have good ideas that a lot of people like me would like to learn :)
Took a break from studying to learn even more. I enjoyed the video. Thanks for making such a complicated topic so interesting to watch! Keep doing what you do, I love your videos! Also... a fellow Raincouver person, too? Is the rainy weather treating you well?
Awesome design again! One technical problem (might just be my tired eyes right now): at 15:34 when you change the floor it looks like you go over the top and "respawn" at the bottom of the stair, because of the similar shapes and because your eyes are not focused on the surroundings at that moment. Could you maybe start to blend in the new floor early, so you end up with a soft transition? Not sure if it works with your current implementation, but might be worth a try
Thanks! Appreciate the feedback. Nice to hear your first impression/experience. Yes, the sudden sprite change could be visually disorienting. I will definitely check it out!
I don't know how easy this would be to implement, but it would be cool if (without slowing the player down) the character automatically took off his shoes when entering a house with a tile mat like in this one.
I mostly learned pixel art from looking at Twitter artists. Lots of great stuff there. For architecture, a really good video to get started was a Ted talk by James Kunstler. Goes over some general architecture and urban design ideas
Really appreciate your interest in supporting! Yes, I will be launching a Kickstarter in a few months. Just gotta add in some final missing components in the gameplay loop and bring up the quality of earlier art assets. Will make some more announcements in the next couple videos :)
This is a very lovely pixel home. Though I'm more into classic or simple furnature than 100$ modern. Wouldn't copper turn to rust? Note: Canadians also take their shoes off at the front porch too. it's Americans who are the weird ones.
I was wondering how many hours it took you to create that house? I really find the whole design approach fascinating. Are you thinking about a Patreon setup?
I think it took around 40 hours, including putting everything into Unity. Glad you enjoyed it! Don't think I will do a patreon, but will do a Kickstarter in the coming months to fund development
Didn’t know I’d get an architecture lesson today but it was very interesting.
Nice profile pic (sorry I’m 2 years late)
Good thing I turned on alerts 🔔
damn dude ur art is gorgeous - the colors are so soothing
Lol why is your profile pic wearing a mask? Pixels can't get sick amigo.

It is super good
The idea of browsing the library by moving up and down the floors is the most brilliant, aesthetic and healthiest idea.

Made me think of the similarity and contrasting different between pixel art and San Rock painting
This is beautiful! Being myself artist and an architect, I find this so inspiring. ❤️

This game feels so cozy already, I can’t wait to play it when it’s done :)
Thank you for the architecture lesson!
You could try out isometric pixel art too :)
Like keeping the perspective of your designed house. That wouöd look cool too

Also me : make it in-game story
I did not expect Montréal to be mentionned!
You're so inspiring 💙
I really like Your pixel art works!
12:43 But it's really strange don't use a bucket tool. It's more faster than to draw pixel by pixel.
