- After having no A/C since the end of the winter I decided to try some of the canned refrigerants. Surprisingly, so far so good.

I have a 2007 pathfinder I just watched your video and put two cans of 134A in the car. The temperature went from 82 Fahrenheit to 60 Fahrenheit at the vent. Thank you for this video.
Thanks for watching.
I hope that it will last the season
Dreaded pathfinder rear leak. Either cut and cap the lines to rear evaporator or buy 50$ stop leak kit with refrigerant bottles from Canadian tire or amaazon. The o rings cost like 60$ from Nissan dealers and they don’t know which one goes where lol! The stop leak bottle will plug small leaks in o rings or pipes upto 5mm size
Maybe a rear leak. That one A/C recharge lasted more than a year....So I'm not too sure.
If there is a leak, it is a really slow leak.
I had a broken line right in between a support like corrosion, I cut it in half and use some high-pressure quarter inch fuel line and two fuel line hose clamps
If it works it works
Hello,
Really like your video, I plan on putting dehydrator first as well as seal repair . After those my car recommends 25 oz of refrigerant . I will put in 24 oz of refrigerant. Will this cause ac to overcharge ?
It depends on how much, if any refrigerant is still in the car.
If its empty, then no it probably wont over charge it.
Just watch the pressure gauge as well and dont bring the pressure up too high
how did you get the compressor to kick on if you were completely low on refrigerant?
It didnt kick on until the first can was in.
I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong with the AC. The compressor clutch wouldn't engage, even after I used a paperclip to bridge the wiring harness on the left side of the radiator. I replaced the compressor with a junkyard compressor, but I still have the same problem.
Last night, I put 12 volts of power onto the yellow wire that runs to the compressor clutch. It started spinning, but it sounded terrible.
What am I doing wrong? Is the voltage going to the compressor clutch supposed to be less than 12 volts?
I could use any advice that you can offer.
Did you try the Auto Active Test? The video I did before this one is how to do it on the Pathfinder, but it runs a compressor test that will engage the compressor and let you know if the wiring to the compressor is bad or not.

The compressor made a few clicking noises when I ran that test, but when the vehicle is running, the compressor clutch only engages if I put power directly to the wire that runs to the compressor.
@@DIYNorth, doesn't the compressor need to be engaged to add more freon? It does on my 1999 Dodge Ram.
@@stevescholfield6671 no, not on the pathfinder. If it senses low pressure it wont engage.
As soon as I added some refrigerant it started working
@@DIYNorth I'll give it a shot tonight! I'll let you know what happens.
Excellent job as always! I have not tried fixing A/C system on my own, but now I feel like I can thanks to your tips in this video! 230,000kms! Nice! I have 176,000miles on my XTerra, so we’re pretty close on mileage, or do you say ‘kilometrage’ in Canada? 😂
It doesnt really make sense but we would refer to it as milage as well, but would tell people what the milage is in kilometers.
So this is weird, I did the quick bump on the high side port and it squirted what looks and smells like antifreeze. Bright green and under pressure. WTF?
Could be a couple reasons.
They put colorant in to find leaks and is often bright green.
There is an oil that circulates as well.
134A is kinda hard to get, but you can find, from Duracool, 134 replacement. I live in Northern Ontario, have a 2017 Pathfinder, and will be using this.not sure why 134A is discontinued or so hard to find...
I actually thought only people working in the refrigerant trades could get the 134A now in Canada. I think the 134a works better than the stuff from the recharge kits that I used here.
I heard you don't do this, you don't refill the AC with the canned stuff. You take it to a garage where the person works with refrigerant. Otherwise you have contaminated your AC. They gotta bleed it before refill. I ran into this issue last year and did the can stuff too.
Does your A/C still work after using the canned version? There are better methods for sure, even using these DIY cans it is best to put the A/C under vacuum. Mine still works.
@@DIYNorth it wasn't working that great
Was going from Calgary AB to Kelowna BC and it stopped working on the highway, after the refill with the can. Not sure if the system was clogged but also was feeling a bit anxious driving, was making me feel a bit nauseous. Might have been the refilled AC causing it. Apparently not good to breath that stuff in. I took it to a shop in Kelowna AC shop. The guy said never use the can stuff. You gotta get it refilled from a shop where they handle refrigerant and the person's certified. He had to bleed it all and decontaminate the AC. Anyways just wanted to let you know. By the way your pathfinder videos are very informative. I been watching them for a while. Great job!
All cans in Canada are 134eh
They should be, but 12eh is what we get
Hello from Ukraine! Thank's for your videos! Have you ever tried to update your Nissan connect (Clarion 08IT) multimedia system? I have same pathfinder r51, but the Bluetooth connection with the phone is awful. I read in a numerous autoblogs that updating may fix that
Sorry, no I can't provide any recommendations on that. My pathfinder has a Bose system (which is terrible) and it doesn't have bluetooth. I have to plug in an aux cable.
@@DIYNorth Thank's anyway!
Thanks! This was helpful
Thanks for checking it out
I have pathfinder and I want to recharge it with freon1234AF. Please show me how
1234yf isn't compatible with vehicles that run R134A or R12. I therefore cannot show you as my vehicles are both R134A. I assume the method is the same though.
