Understated perfection - what a beauty! 1968 on first glance, but with a technically advanced artisan movement that will inspire generations of horology enthusiast. As for the price, it's actually the least expensive 9SA4 Hi-Beat Grand Seiko at the moment. This is so well done.
My brother is in Japan for his 30th and just picked up a glorious 1970 45KS chronometer. I’m glad Seiko are reissuing these watches, they have some truly legendary watches in their archives.
I have a 4522-8000, an original 45GS and I always been satisfied its perfect style as hand-wind 10 beat model. Best size~ case size and thickness, and clear shapes on the edge. And this 45GS is very reasonable price in second-handed market. When I catch this news for SLGW005 release, I feel this must be the best self-copy by SEIKO with latest movement and see-through back case! And if you do not have 45GS, please get both SLGW005 and 4520-8000….
i also own the 4522, I want this still, that movement is pretty awesome. I did get a see through case back from lapinist, show off the movement, and protect my case back medallion.
Thank God you just said Australian dollars. I thought it was 13,900 USD! 😳 I have the SLGw003 and you had me scratching my head there for about 6 minutes.
Beautiful, but so expensive, more than $10,000 when including tax. I get it, it’s a limited edition, super cool vintage look, amazing GS finishing, and fancy new GS movement with exhibition caseback. But still .... Should have been closer to $6500.
Despite their simplistic and often generic designs, luxury watches command staggering prices. Are they truly more than just a status symbol? In a world where form often trumps function, it seems that both RUclipsrs and consumer culture have elevated these timepieces to near-mythical status.
@@BornaBosnjak I suppose it comes in around $8,000 (USD), which isn't a bad price for what you're getting. However, I own the original (vintage) 45GS that contains the legendary 4520 movement. It is still extremely accurate, even after 50 years! I simply wouldn't consider purchasing this reissue if I didn't own the original, mainly because the movement inside this reissue has far less horological significance. I think this watch is being marketed to a consumer who is likely ignorant of Grand Seiko's history of excellence in timekeeping accuracy during the 1960s. It's for people who simply want a modern watch that looks nice and shiny. Grand Seiko watch enthusiasts who do their research will go for the vintage original and save some money.
i want to like Grand Seiko enough to own one but the trouble with the brand...and this watch specifically...is that GS is such a derivative and not its own creation. And this watch dial reminds me just how its merely a glorified Seiko with some special finishing. Much like Accura is to Honda...GS feels like its not worth the cost due solely to its heritage and link to a cheap entry level watch maker.
@@nikolaikrustev1159To play the devil’s advocate, there are some chronograph watches that are as thin and they were made long ago. Grand Seiko should have made this movement thinner to allow for more elegant case profiles, but I get that they want to keep the movements thick in order to maintain mechanical robustness.
@@inkhaurt5812 I'd agree that the sport GS models are too bulky (and so are the Omega AT and 300Ms) but I don't think that 10mm is too much in this day and age where divers like the Rolex Sub are often worn as 'dress watches'.
Wonderful! The simple 3-handers with untextured dials are the only Grand Seikos I really want.
As an owner of several vintage KS and GS, this is the most excited I've been about a GS model in a long time.

It is incredibly beautiful and stylish in real life! It will be my first GS!
Absolutely breathtaking
This video made an already excellent watch even more desirable
🙌
I’ve never been a big fan of the double signed dials, but wow this is beautiful! 😍
Gorgeous piece
brilliant watch. really would love to have one
Another great video Marcus and team.
This is perfection...
beautiful!!
Don Draper would be proud.
God I want this. It's perfect.
Hard to find faults to be honest
What a watch!!! I'm drooling...
Absolutely stunning!
So beautiful....
Truly a dream watch…

Hi Beat movement, didn't even bother to show the seconds hand movement for a second....
It’s a carnet piece - no working movement
Hopefully this is not just a limited edition run and regular models bring back GS/KS double branding
Take my money!

Oh wow
Great…now I have to figure out what to do with my sbgw301!?
Both great...any decision yet?
It is assured, for maintenance watch must be send to Japan?
Lovely watch. Then you told me the price. Ooof.
Definitely not on the affordable side of the spectrum, but stunning nonetheless
Take a look at the SBGW301, SBGW231 and SBGR261 as a few examples of very similar watches for much less money.
@@grammarboy1318love the SBGW301, one of the best modern GS in my opinion. But the difference in movements is vast
Approx $9,700 US dollars.
Because it's one of the new 9SA4 manual wind HI Beat dress watches in updated vintage clothing, it's a super modern watch despite it's appearance
Cheaper to get the vintage version, service it and send it to polishing service, like the lapinist guy
Beautiful but it´s not running?!
Shit... I really wish it wasn't coming out this year, already bought too many watches 😂
Stunning but way out of my price range, I’ll continue to appreciate the big boys and own the microbrands.
Need! Wish it came on bracelet
Great, but please drop the background music.
It's hugely distracting.
That music choice is odd. Levels are off too.
This is what Japanese people imagine by the word "Grand-pa watch".
This Gand-pa inherited an original 1970 4522-8000 from my father.

I would love this watch but the price is big no for me
Do you think this is just a given considering the high-beat movement and current GS pricing, or is it something else altogether that makes it a no-no?
You’re just broke bruh , the pricing is fine
Price is big big 👎🏻👎🏻
@@siddhant46s54 nah not broke , just not worth it . But you’re prob dumb enough to pay that amount so that makes sense.

Grail : SBGW231 ❤
Gorgeous but getting unnecessarily expensive!
Nice reissue, the price seems high imho.
The price… 😅
Slgw003 is superior. It has 20mm lugs
Its lovely, but for steel...it should be sub 10k.
It is! US$9.7k

10'000 dollars? Nope. Grand Seiko make amazing watches. But they are out pricing themselves.
Another limited edition... Jeez, how many limited editions did GS release this year?
I was on board until I head LE lol
They definitely upgrade the price from about $100 to about $10000

Thick amd expensive

38.8 instead of 37mm😢
Downside is a simple three hands watch is as thick as highly complicated swiss high horhological brands
Rubbish. This one is listed as 10.4 mm , so who exactly does high complications at that thickness - JLC, Patek, Moser? I don't think so.

Pity Seiko doesn’t listen to its customers
Too thick for a dress watch, and it’s even manual.
I hate that center case shape. It feels like a unfinished lug
No lume, lazy seeko
It's a dress watch. Don't see lume on dress watches very often.
The movement can’t perform as they claim. Try to believe it.
