Thanks for the tip! Been detailing frames and tracks for years, never thought of lubrication. My worst fear is to go to great lengths to do the job right and make customers happy, only to miss one little detail that undoes all that effort.
Great job, although I thought you’d vacuum out as much loose dirt & dust before adding solution. Adding solution to dirt just makes more mud to be flicked around on curtains & walls. Wouldn’t rinsing it away cause all that mud water to run down the outside of their house, creating dirt streaks? Kind regards Kylie
Just spend three days cleaning about 25 windows (not talking about the glass, that's the easy part). pulled off the screens, pressure washed, etc. Why hasn't someone invented a mini steam blaster/vac that you just run over all the groves, tracks, casing, etc. and its cleaned in one pass. This would be a great invention.
I used to offer this along with a conservatory valet, wasn’t popular so I dropped it. I used a steam cleaner and a rag to catch the debris. Worked a treat with less effort. Good demo Pete 👍🏻
Don't forget to lubricate the hinges as the cleaning solution may have washed out the lubricant!! A Silicone Lubricant is best on stainless and plastic. The tracks came up like new, looked great. Love the little wet dry vac.
Yeah absolutely buddy. This video is just about how to clean the tracks but a reminder to use lubricant after is in the description Thanks for your input, always appreciated 👍🏻
That’s great info and demo Pete. We get so much dirt built up here in Oz. Normally I get a brush and sweep the service dirt out and vacuum that up. Then I would get a screw driver with a wet chux cloth and remove the built in dirt. Does take a lot of time. Of course I price this as an extra cost. Love the the portable wet and dry vacuum 👍
Thanks mate! Yeah sometimes there's a crazy amount of dirt in the tracks, not many companies here offer to clean them either. Good to hear from ya pal!
Good job bro, pain of a job, I carry a chop stick on the cloth to clean out tracks , little portable air compressor would work to blow out with that nifty little vacuum. 👍
Hi, I'm rather late to this video, looked great at the end! Do you have any tools/tips for getting dirt out of the grooves in the frames themselves? My chamfered frames have grooves all the way around the frames and running diagonally in the corners. The grooves are tiny and I can get in there with a bit of paper towel over my thumb nail but that's not great for the manicure! Thanks.
A good detergent in an powerful spray bottle, (I use one designed for the automotive industry) and an array of detailing brushes, reasonably stiff bristles 👍🏻
Hi. We have windows like that upstairs that open outward from the bottom. Really dirty on the actual tracks/ frame around the window pane itself. Is there a way to easily clean those parts . I can’t reach from the inside as too high up to be able to reach out to clean as the window needs to be open fully to be able to clean all the edges.
Thank you pal. Yeah absolutely buddy. This video is just about how to clean the tracks but a reminder to use lubricant after cleaning is in the description 😉 Thanks for your input, always appreciated 👍🏻
I done this yesterday I used a sonic scrubber and cotton buds but the brushes you had would have been better I didn't realise about the ports or I'd have used more water And the water bottle is a clever idea
I had to clean a rental property I have today its on a road and the frames are all dirty from the environment its in took me an hour to do each window , I wish I had a dry vac it saves on making a mess .
We offer this service but when we do it is an all day process and we use a whole trash bags worth of cloths and many buckets of water. Looking to improve our cleanign time without sacrificing quality
Hello TradMan, thank you for the information. I am American, do you have links that works for USA users to each tool you have used on this video? I clicked on the links that you have provided but am not able to access it. Or if there is anyone else who could help me, I would appreciate it very much. I am a professional cleaner and am just getting into the window cleaning industry and am learning better ways to clean it. Ok, thank you.
Hi, interesting video, for the ocd crew. Is this a service you advertise or rather something you are asked? How long would you expect to spend on a window to have some idea of how to price the job? 👍🏾
Yeah normally I offer it as opposed to being asked. I go £10 for a standard window, takes between 15-20mins (with decent equipment). If it looks really dirty and tough stains then add a few more pounds on per window.
I got my vac on Amazon. Comes with the attachments (battery's sold separately). Einhell 10L wet / dry vacuum. Nice little portable vac, easy to use and light weight. Hope that helps you 🙏🏻
Do you get customers ask for this service or do you find have to offer it to customers to get the jobs? Personally I’ve never been asked to clean the tracks. Wouldn’t have a clue what to charge for them either. Maybe £2 per window? More? What do you think?
For track cleaning like this I would offer it more often than I get asked to do it. Pricing I normally (for a standard window) go about £10, if it looks really bad then pop another few pounds on top per window. Takes between 15- 20 mins (on average with the right equipment) depending on the window size and type. Hope that helps
The vacuum and cleaner are sorta overkill aren’t they? You can get similar results with just a toothbrush, paintbrush, and a bottle of water to rinse the tracks at the end.
Water alone wouldn't remove stubborn stains in tracks hence the professional cleaning solution which cuts through the dirt and lifts stains very well. The vacuum is brilliant for removing the majority of dirt and solution, without it you'd be flushing everything into the run out port's and potentially clogging them up with debris. With the gear in this video it is effective, efficient and looks professional as opposed to turning up with a tooth brush which to me looks tacky and cheap. 😊😉
⭐ REMEMBER TO LUBRICATE THE HINGES / MOVING PARTS AFTER CLEANING ⭐
Thanks for the tip! Been detailing frames and tracks for years, never thought of lubrication. My worst fear is to go to great lengths to do the job right and make customers happy, only to miss one little detail that undoes all that effort.
What do you recommend as lubricant ? Thanks
I use gt85

What kind of steam cleaner please??

For houses I use an old large soap bottle, it's good for a pressure squirt in the tracts. I also use a dual bristol brush to loosen the dirt.
😊👍🏻

Thanks for the video. Just thinking it would be really good to see UK youtubers recommending local/high street suppliers rather than Amazon 😉
Ive past your video onto a customer Peter. Who was telling me she was gonna be tackling her window tracks. ☘⚒
Thats cool, hope it helps 😊👍🏻
I have a pretty large track cleaning job next week. I picked up a new milwaukee portable vacuum today to save some hassle.
I advise you also have a battery powered drill fitted with a brush. I will be a lot easier.

Extra tip, wear eye protection. 👍🏻
@@TradMan 👍
How do you clean behind the locks on sash windows? Detail brush? The dead flies etc can be seen from outside.
A mix of brushes, wet / dry vac and a powerful spray bottle
You certainly have patience. Great job as always.
Took a few years to learn patience 🤣 still learning 😉
Thanks for watching!

It's certainly a very time consuming job!
My problem is the tracks and the edges of the window are encrusted with black mould.
Good detergent and a good brush, then scrub like crazy lol
@@TradMan Do you think it would be okay to bit by bit remove some of the screws/fittings so that I can clean properly?
You could. Very time consuming so you'd have to charge accordingly if doing this as a service. Steam cleaners can be quite effective to.

Type einhell vacuum into your amazon browser
@@TradMan okay, thank you and what about those brushes? I just need a name for them so I know what to look up.
I just looked up track brushes on amazon. Anything thin with stiff bristles will do
Thanks!@@TradMan
Have you thought to use a steamer on tracks? Love the little vac.
Yeah a steamer is also good 😉
What steamer would you recommend please
Do you still speak with Luke the window cleaner? If so, how are they doing and why did they stop posting videos. Hope all is well with you and them.
No I don't keep up with many youtubers accross the pond to be honest.

How much did you make cleaning this single house in pounds? (I can convert it for myself)
This was a demonstration on one of my own windows
@@TradMan That's nice! Then if you were to charge yourself for cleaning all of your house windows, how much would you charge?
Probably around £200
