It's a shame that Yamamoto was fired for plagiarizing. It's bad, but this is a pretty cool arrangement.

I would love it if Stratovarius accepted to sing Hunting High and Low and added the main riff of Challengers. That'd be a concert to behold.

It's a damn shame Yamamoto plagiarized instead of going through the proper channels to sample Stratovarius' work, because this was really well done and it deserves to be used.

He didn't do anything wrong. They fired amd blacklisted him because he was too powerful.
This one is a good example of something that would have been awesome to have gotten official approval for.
I actually prefer the instrumental take on the song, and it would have been if he had asked the band for permission showing them how he adapted the material and also giving the band credit.
There are other examples that are WAY worse though. At least the entire lead guitar riff while the vocals are going on is new in Yamamoto’s version, and it compliments the original SO well.

Stolen or not, the DBZ Budokai soundtrack had a huge impact on my childhood. As I get older and learn the truth, I'm grateful for it introducing me to more awesome (original) music.
If I had my music stolen and put into a badass video game like dragon ballz budokai I would buy the the composer a beer.
There's definitely much worse cases of plagiarism, at the very least these tracks are all nice homages to other music, people should've piped down about it :(

So... Yeah, I'm destroyed that one of my favorite game will never have his original soundtrack anymore...

Kenji's remix is more dynamic than the original, and the original's vocals add so much. This mash up is the perfect version of Hunting High and Low.
Plagiarized or not, I still like these Dragon Ball Z soundtracks based on Stratovarius.

To me the vocals kill the hype of the guitar.
That's mainly because the lead guitar in Challengers is basically filling the role that the vocals had in the original song.

Sure, the number of pages is different and the paragraphs don’t look exactly the same - but it’s still the same goddamned book. :-P

I didn't know you could steal a chord progression/key. I mean yeah the chords the drum groove and tempo are exactly the same, but the melody itself is completely different.

Nah, it's the same, he's just using little flourishes or minor changes in how the melody is played to make it a little less obvious.
Well to be fair, other games has used well known songs for their own music. For example, the hippie battle theme in Mother uses Johnny B. Goode.

Challengers is the best DB game song and it deserves respect and glory. Each song feels like one half of a puzzle and by playing them together they feel whole. Perfect.
