SS3 was so unexpected in DBZ. I remember back in 90's when Buu arc was airing they did not reveal Super Saiyan 3 but hinted at a power. So when Goku said this is even beyond I was 9 yrs old and my mouth was open. I remember me and my friends were talking about SS3 in school next day!
Same happened to me but with Dragon Ball super. I wasn't alive in the 90s but i sure experienced an similar memory like yours in the Tournament of Power saga, after the day Goku obtained UI, i was talking about that all day with my schoolmates. Seems like Dragon Ball still suprises

God I remember coming home from school excited to watch DBZ and this happened (Goku turning SSJ3). I was 12 years old and this was the most epic thing I'd ever seen. This theme just made the moment even more special.
Whats interesting to state that SSJ3 is in an entirely different leauge than SSJ and SSJ2, and same thing happened to me as Well, hell SSJ3 is still one of my favorites in the dbz universe.

I will still be grieving over the loss of Akira Toriyama tomorrow and for probably a long time after that, but we should try not to be sad that he's gone, but glad that he lived, thankful that we had him at all. Akira Toriyama was a teacher to millions across the world, and what he taught will live on... Legends never die.
The fact that Goku begins the transformation sequence with "You're going to love this" (at least in the original english dub) is awesome. It's not only a thing that Goku knows about how Buu will react, but also how WE, as the AUDIENCE will react.

I used to be overweight. I was scared to go to the gym because I know I would get judged. Then i heard this song. No longer was I afraid of what people thought. At the moment it was good for clutch but SSj2 is a better overall form for Stamina usage, then again God and Blue (and Kaio-Ken) probably drain further and 3 is mastered at this point. Still favorite transformation.

This song for some reason helps me push my limit when training. I feel a power inside myself. I think this songs unlocks our spirit energy as it reminds us of how Goku pushed his limits and reached SS3
toonami in 2002-2003 was dbz wrapping up in the states and the music acting and visuals were so on point..if only the buu arc wasn't so tedious we would all call it th best experience ever..it really was special to watch as a kid

Bruce Faulconer should return for the DBZ movies, his music is sorta how DBZ became so famous, while the movies are pretty good I miss his music, for example in Battle of Gods when Bills hit Bulma and Vegeta snapped imagine hearing his Super Saiyan Theme instead of the music that's in the film currently. I think he can do an amazing job with producing the soundtrack for the films. He has such iconic music like Goku's SSJ1 theme, Gohan's Anger, Super Buu, SSJ1 Vegeta and much more.
Darkchief117 I absolutely agree. Someone added Vegeta's Hell Bells soundtrack to when Bulma gets slapped and when Vegeta went insane. That simple change in music made that part over 9,000 times better.

I think this theme was the most epic one of all transformation themes because it was probably meant to be the last SSJ transformation, until GT and Super came.

I remember clearly the first time this episode premiered on Toonami. I was about 8 or 9. I was in complete awe. Every time this episode was on, I would literally crank my parent’s television to full volume. Man… what an amazing part of my childhood
most of my friends didn't like the Buu Saga at all, I then found out they never got to witness seeing Goku's Epic transformation.... To this day, they still have no idea what a Super Saiyan 3 is....... I feel sorry for them.
Buu Saga just wasn't that good. He meant for it to end with Cell. It's obvious by the big deal they make about Gohan and how they send Goku off with the farewell and all. Not to mention end of Saga and someone was still dead. But you know how that goes, the cash cow kept on mooing. That's why it's so out of place. The main villain has no motives. Some pink blobs... just want to watch universe explode.
Zuzim Terex I don't get why you're dragging them into this, but you're kinda wrong. Those four, especially, are still VERY original. Superman is Superman. They started making Goku after him. Superman stands alone as the most original superhero period. I mean he's the only one that gets rid of the disguise to reveal himself, everyone else puts one on. Batman. He's the one hero that plans more on how to defeat other heroes more than he does on defeating villains. Hulk... he was betrayed by his allies, sent to a foreign planet, took it over, lived happily, then returned to beat the ones that betrayed him and put them in an arena to fight to the death. Spiderman had his mind swapped with one of his dying villains and then died with that villain still in his body. Those are all very original. That still doesn't have anything to do with the Buu Saga being uninspired and not as good as the rest of the series. He meant for the series to end with the Cell Saga, they kinda pushed him to do the Buu Saga. He was so disgusted with it that he walked away, but they still rolled out with GT. These are facts.
Oh... okay. Now I'm "crying" for pointing something out. Well then... Let's do this. First off, he was based loosely on a Chinese myth, yes, but like I said, they started making him after Superman. Hence, Goku originally based off Son Wukong. That runs its course. DBZ rolls around, almost everything about the original is abandoned. Key characters become little more than verbal exposition or, at best, used simply to demonstrate how powerful the new enemy was. Quick skirmishes with more story is abandoned in light of less and less story, with drawn out fights. The origin is changed or "adjusted" to be more in line with Superman's. Secondly, learn what originality means and stop slinging it around improperly and overusing it as if saying it more makes you right. Originality, in this sense, is that the characters are faced with new challenges, not repeats or borrowing from others. The examples I gave of those four, originals. DBZ borrowed from Superman with the adjustment to Goku's story (that's the reason why there's so much Superman v Goku stuff). It then just repeats itself over and over. If Goku's there in the beginning, he's gonna lose and disappear while the others keep struggling, making no progress really, just stalling, Goku returns and saves the day, more or less. Then there's no real loss since literally everything gets fixed with a wish. At least in comics or other manga, if a character dies and you know they're coming back, you read and wonder how they gonna bring them back. DB/Z/GT? Get them Dragonballs bishies! Again, facts. This is also something the author has pointed out. That's why Toriyama is so awesome. He can critique his own stuff honestly. He admitted that, while an interesting concept, the Dragonballs, a key point to the story, essentially made the story pointless. Third, it pisses off anyone who was actually into the story when people blindly defend the Buu Saga as if it's some insult against them. It's not even an insult to the author who was the first to say it! The Buu Saga had to no weight to it at all. There was no development and the villain didn't even have a goal other than random destruction. There was no rhyme or reason to the character at all, not even the power set. It was all totally random and, in a manga/anime that explained everything, it was all written off as magic. Literally. The guy was trying to leave that world and those characters because he'd taken it as far as he could and wanted to do new stories (like Blue Dragon) but publisher's greed won out and, since he was under contract, he did it, but tried to write the most ridiculous thing he could to kill the series. It almost worked too. The previous fan base left while a younger fan base, excited by yelling, blurs, excessive explosions and ridiculous transformations bought into it, myself included. I thought it was all cool, when I was younger. Then I realized just how flawed it was, even in comparison with the rest of the series. So did everyone else who actually matured. I didn't attack or insult anyone who liked that saga. I'm simply stating facts. These are not opinions. When I realized the stark contrast, I looked it up because I'm curious like that and learned what happened. Hell, I loved the Avengers movie too. It doesn't change the fact that, before the big fight, if Loki wasn't in the scene, it was boring. You wanna be a fan instead of a fanatic? Accept the entirety of whatever it is you admire. Don't act like it can do no wrong. SSJ3 and 4 were the coolest thing ever when I first came across them at 16. Now it looks ridiculous beyond Gohan's SSJ2. Even then Trunks' over the top muscular ascended SSJ form against Cell is downright silly. Goku and friends introduced much of the world to manga. Goku is virtually the face of manga. There's no taking away from all that series accomplished. Still, even if it was your favorite saga, you need to get over it and admit how out of place the Buu Saga is with all of the rest of the franchise and that it has flaws. Pffft... I can point out so many in the Cell Saga and that one was my fave.

Yeah, he said he INTENTIONALLY, as in on purpose, wrote it to have flaws as an intent to kill the franchise so they'd let him out of that contract so he can pursue new stories he had a passion for. You just sat right there and agreed to the some of the obvious flaws in the damn Saga yet still trying to say it's perfect. It's NOT. It's NOT perfect and it just took a dump on the rest of the franchise, AS IT WAS INTENDED. If that's your favorite Saga, FINE, but you and everyone else who holds it as a favorite needs to stop acting like it's end all be all when it's not! The friend that introduced me to DBZ in the first place was a big Krillin fan. I don't get why, especially since he never watched Dragonball and Krillin was just a joke in DBZ. My favorite character, through it all, is Piccolo. It doesn't mean either of us are gonna try to make them more than they are. We're not gonna claim that they're the strongest of the characters or could beat the Super Saiyans (even though, at one point, Piccolo was both). That's just stupid. Enjoy them for what they are. Just like he admits Krillin hasn't done anything noteworthy throughout DBZ (which is just sad) and I admit Piccolo, while probably the smartest and best fighter, has never beaten anyone other than a Saiber Man in all of DBZ, it doesn't make us like them any less. It doesn't take away from those characters. Those are facts. It's on the same level of still liking a team even when they losing. You trying to claim a flawed storyline, that was meant to be flawed and treated as a joke, is perfect, the best or anything else along those lines is just STUPID. As demonstrated with the Krillin/Piccolo comparison, it can be your favorite without being the best. Bloody hell... The fact that you can't even defend it, only attack other stories is proof enough. I could go on ripping your defense apart, but I'm done. You can cry, whine, bitch and complain all you want, but if your reply isn't actually about the Buu Saga you're defending, as in pointing out some of its good points and how they could outweigh it's very obvious flaws, then I won't be replying. Dragon Ball/Z were the epicness of my childhood. They taught me many things. Son Goku was my idol. I dressed like him, talked like him, ate like him. Seeing him defeat those opponents and break those limits was inspiring me so much. He was a true legend... until GT and Super came out...
Super was needed. Other Place like and Marvel and DC Characters were getting very stronger on Comics so Dragon Ball needed Super Upgrade to their Character Powers. If they wouldn't do it They would been Compared to Ants with DC Characters Power. So for making balance in power Super was needed. You can understand by seeing Superman Prime power. How much overpowered others Comics becoming. So some Sacrifice were needed. Even I miss Dragon Ball Z classical times too but nothing to say Power Balance was needed.

I personally prefer Kai as an anime over DBZ... BUT - I am DEFINITELY missing Faulconer's music. This theme will be missed so much, along with all of Buu's old themes.
Based on what? Not having the original cast is of the utmost priority. First time I tried watching kai I was super stoked, heard Gohan talk, and turned it off. What does upgraded animation matter if you dont want to watch it?

SS3 was so unexpected in DBZ. I remember back in 90's when Buu arc was airing they did not reveal Super Saiyan 3 but hinted at a power. So when Goku said this is even beyond I was 9 yrs old and my mouth was open. I remember me and my friends were talking about SS3 in school next day!

God I remember coming home from school excited to watch DBZ and this happened (Goku turning SSJ3). I was 12 years old and this was the most epic thing I'd ever seen. This theme just made the moment even more special.

Bruce Faulconer should return for the DBZ movies, his music is sorta how DBZ became so famous, while the movies are pretty good I miss his music, for example in Battle of Gods when Bills hit Bulma and Vegeta snapped imagine hearing his Super Saiyan Theme instead of the music that's in the film currently. I think he can do an amazing job with producing the soundtrack for the films. He has such iconic music like Goku's SSJ1 theme, Gohan's Anger, Super Buu, SSJ1 Vegeta and much more.

most of my friends didn't like the Buu Saga at all, I then found out they never got to witness seeing Goku's Epic transformation.... To this day, they still have no idea what a Super Saiyan 3 is....... I feel sorry for them.
Buu Saga just wasn't that good. He meant for it to end with Cell. It's obvious by the big deal they make about Gohan and how they send Goku off with the farewell and all. Not to mention end of Saga and someone was still dead. But you know how that goes, the cash cow kept on mooing. That's why it's so out of place. The main villain has no motives. Some pink blobs... just want to watch universe explode.
Zuzim Terex I don't get why you're dragging them into this, but you're kinda wrong. Those four, especially, are still VERY original. Superman is Superman. They started making Goku after him. Superman stands alone as the most original superhero period. I mean he's the only one that gets rid of the disguise to reveal himself, everyone else puts one on. Batman. He's the one hero that plans more on how to defeat other heroes more than he does on defeating villains. Hulk... he was betrayed by his allies, sent to a foreign planet, took it over, lived happily, then returned to beat the ones that betrayed him and put them in an arena to fight to the death. Spiderman had his mind swapped with one of his dying villains and then died with that villain still in his body. Those are all very original. That still doesn't have anything to do with the Buu Saga being uninspired and not as good as the rest of the series. He meant for the series to end with the Cell Saga, they kinda pushed him to do the Buu Saga. He was so disgusted with it that he walked away, but they still rolled out with GT. These are facts.
The Buu saga is my favorite arc, followed by the Cell and Androids arc
Oh... okay. Now I'm "crying" for pointing something out. Well then... Let's do this.
First off, he was based loosely on a Chinese myth, yes, but like I said, they started making him after Superman. Hence, Goku originally based off Son Wukong. That runs its course. DBZ rolls around, almost everything about the original is abandoned. Key characters become little more than verbal exposition or, at best, used simply to demonstrate how powerful the new enemy was. Quick skirmishes with more story is abandoned in light of less and less story, with drawn out fights. The origin is changed or "adjusted" to be more in line with Superman's.
Secondly, learn what originality means and stop slinging it around improperly and overusing it as if saying it more makes you right. Originality, in this sense, is that the characters are faced with new challenges, not repeats or borrowing from others. The examples I gave of those four, originals. DBZ borrowed from Superman with the adjustment to Goku's story (that's the reason why there's so much Superman v Goku stuff). It then just repeats itself over and over. If Goku's there in the beginning, he's gonna lose and disappear while the others keep struggling, making no progress really, just stalling, Goku returns and saves the day, more or less. Then there's no real loss since literally everything gets fixed with a wish. At least in comics or other manga, if a character dies and you know they're coming back, you read and wonder how they gonna bring them back. DB/Z/GT? Get them Dragonballs bishies! Again, facts. This is also something the author has pointed out. That's why Toriyama is so awesome. He can critique his own stuff honestly. He admitted that, while an interesting concept, the Dragonballs, a key point to the story, essentially made the story pointless.
Third, it pisses off anyone who was actually into the story when people blindly defend the Buu Saga as if it's some insult against them. It's not even an insult to the author who was the first to say it! The Buu Saga had to no weight to it at all. There was no development and the villain didn't even have a goal other than random destruction. There was no rhyme or reason to the character at all, not even the power set. It was all totally random and, in a manga/anime that explained everything, it was all written off as magic. Literally. The guy was trying to leave that world and those characters because he'd taken it as far as he could and wanted to do new stories (like Blue Dragon) but publisher's greed won out and, since he was under contract, he did it, but tried to write the most ridiculous thing he could to kill the series. It almost worked too. The previous fan base left while a younger fan base, excited by yelling, blurs, excessive explosions and ridiculous transformations bought into it, myself included. I thought it was all cool, when I was younger. Then I realized just how flawed it was, even in comparison with the rest of the series. So did everyone else who actually matured.
I didn't attack or insult anyone who liked that saga. I'm simply stating facts. These are not opinions. When I realized the stark contrast, I looked it up because I'm curious like that and learned what happened. Hell, I loved the Avengers movie too. It doesn't change the fact that, before the big fight, if Loki wasn't in the scene, it was boring. You wanna be a fan instead of a fanatic? Accept the entirety of whatever it is you admire. Don't act like it can do no wrong. SSJ3 and 4 were the coolest thing ever when I first came across them at 16. Now it looks ridiculous beyond Gohan's SSJ2. Even then Trunks' over the top muscular ascended SSJ form against Cell is downright silly. Goku and friends introduced much of the world to manga. Goku is virtually the face of manga. There's no taking away from all that series accomplished. Still, even if it was your favorite saga, you need to get over it and admit how out of place the Buu Saga is with all of the rest of the franchise and that it has flaws. Pffft... I can point out so many in the Cell Saga and that one was my fave.

You seem to have issue with American comics as a whole. I don't read them, at all. Yet I know some key story points, same as you and everyone else. The Marvel and DC movies are constantly improving and breaking records, upping the standards of movies in general and making superhero movies respectable. To say they're not popular is asinine. All you're doing right here is proving just why so many fans of the franchise dislike people who go on and on about the Buu Saga. The AUTHOR, you know, the person who created the franchise and WROTE THE DAMN THING? Yeah, he said he INTENTIONALLY, as in on purpose, wrote it to have flaws as an intent to kill the franchise so they'd let him out of that contract so he can pursue new stories he had a passion for. You just sat right there and agreed to the some of the obvious flaws in the damn Saga yet still trying to say it's perfect. It's NOT. It's NOT perfect and it just took a dump on the rest of the franchise, AS IT WAS INTENDED. If that's your favorite Saga, FINE, but you and everyone else who holds it as a favorite needs to stop acting like it's end all be all when it's not!
The friend that introduced me to DBZ in the first place was a big Krillin fan. I don't get why, especially since he never watched Dragonball and Krillin was just a joke in DBZ. My favorite character, through it all, is Piccolo. It doesn't mean either of us are gonna try to make them more than they are. We're not gonna claim that they're the strongest of the characters or could beat the Super Saiyans (even though, at one point, Piccolo was both). That's just stupid. Enjoy them for what they are. Just like he admits Krillin hasn't done anything noteworthy throughout DBZ (which is just sad) and I admit Piccolo, while probably the smartest and best fighter, has never beaten anyone other than a Saiber Man in all of DBZ, it doesn't make us like them any less. It doesn't take away from those characters. Those are facts. It's on the same level of still liking a team even when they losing. You trying to claim a flawed storyline, that was meant to be flawed and treated as a joke, is perfect, the best or anything else along those lines is just STUPID. As demonstrated with the Krillin/Piccolo comparison, it can be your favorite without being the best. Bloody hell... The fact that you can't even defend it, only attack other stories is proof enough. I could go on ripping your defense apart, but I'm done. You can cry, whine, bitch and complain all you want, but if your reply isn't actually about the Buu Saga you're defending, as in pointing out some of its good points and how they could outweigh it's very obvious flaws, then I won't be replying. Dragon Ball/Z were the epicness of my childhood. They taught me many things. Son Goku was my idol. I dressed like him, talked like him, ate like him. Seeing him defeat those opponents and break those limits was inspiring me so much. He was a true legend... until GT and Super came out...

Super was needed. Other Place like and Marvel and DC Characters were getting very stronger on Comics so Dragon Ball needed Super Upgrade to their Character Powers. If they wouldn't do it They would been Compared to Ants with DC Characters Power. So for making balance in power Super was needed. You can understand by seeing Superman Prime power. Based on what? Not having the original cast is of the utmost priority. First time I tried watching kai I was super stoked, heard Gohan talk, and turned it off. What does upgraded animation matter if you dont want to watch it?

Most of the original cast in the Funi dub returns and sounded way better than before. Gohan's voice isn't very good but the original Funi dub Gohan voice wasn't great either. You turned it off based on one voice? Seriously?
