Since this is one of the most popular Faulconer music uploads, I feel a duty to comment that Bruce did NOT compose over 90% of these songs. The vast majority of this soundtrack was composed by his then-employees Mike Smith, Scott Morgan, and Julius Dobos. If you look this info up on RUclips you'll find some very informative videos and interviews.
Yeah there's a few reddit posts discussing this and providing credible sources for it which I would suggest over a RUclips video. It's a problem in the entertainment industry for as long as we can remember; increasing the brand name usually requires exclusion of those who made it great. For example, when people think of the video game Fallout, the first thing that comes to mind is Bethesda, if it's a person then it's Todd Howard, but the person actually responsible for Fallout's existence is Tim Cain. It's always sad to see that those who pay your salary will always get the credit.

Vegeta could dish it out, and he could take it. He gave some of the worst beat downs in DBZ history but he also took some of the worst beatings ever. He's just fucking badass.

Oh goodness, I am 29 and haven't heard this stuff for a while and I am in tears. I didn't remember what these feelings felt like. I feel like I let my younger self down so much. I feel shame and regret, and yet I also feel hope that what I have forgotten and lost to the years can still emerge from the dark void and re-enter my consciousness and help me steer my life back on the right track.

I'm 26 so was a little younger than you when started watching DBZ but we both watched it at the same time since I was 4 (99 onwards, first release of Funimation dub). The memories come back to me again listening to this. I too let my younger self down. I had hopes and dreams and I tried so hard but I failed to make them come true, I had a very rough childhood, rough life and it ill-equiped me for adulthood. I made some grave mistakes that put my life in jeopardy and made it harder to live, working trying to support myself became difficult, I no longer have any family to turn to because of what they did to me through years of alcohol physical and psychological abuse and neglect mainly at the hands of my mother and how they turned their backs after screwing with me earlier in life before I became an adult, even spent some time in foster care. I realized that there was so much I could have done when I was 18, I had so much potential despite the hardship I faced, I was and still am quite bright and was capable of finding something that I love doing for work and follow my own dreams, run my own business doing something I enjoy, taking care of my body and my mind better and also my finances too so that I didn't have to struggle but I messed up, suffered from alcohol addiction drinking so much every single day while working due to trauma from my past and that addiction was worst when I almost turned 19 all the way till I was 23. I only started to beat the addiction after that and cut down significantly, now I rarely drink twice a month and no more than two drinks. The alcohol itself is not a problem if not going overboard, but I felt like I had to have so much back then to drown the pain, I then suffered addiction to painkillers during this time. I lost a lot because I lost my way, I was still very damaged from my past and suffered breakdowns, legal issues as well piled up when I was falsely accused of crime I didn't commit (false assault accusation) which I had to fight for months until the charges were finally dropped, being so scared the entire time that I would end up in prison for a crime I didn't commit and it took a serious toll on my mental health and affected work, lost job due to redundancy and was even made homeless because the landlord no longer wanted to rent the room I was staying at and decided to sell the property instead with no notice whatsoever. The time I spent homeless while working at the same time trying to save up for a deposit on another place was some of the hardest times of my life and I spent so long in that situation out in the cold, nowhere to shower, nowhere to sleep and homelessness charities and local government wouldn't support me finding a temporary place because I was working full time until I lost my job due to the situation and how much of a toll it took on me. I get nightmares and flashbacks every time I remember the days I had to sleep under cold bridges in the ice knowing that if I died nobody would give a damn or would even try to help me if they found me shivering in the cold. I dealt with a lot of pain in my life and I watch this and I cry sometimes knowing how different things could have been if I had just been stronger, more focused and had more faith in myself. I feel your pain, I really do. Yeah, The Dragon Theme is a cut above the rest. I mean, it's played at the most intense action moments in the series, it's supposed to be the gold standard.
Man, the original Japanese score may be more classic and iconically Dragonball, but the Faulconer score just has the hype factor that the original doesn't. Imagine how hype it would have been if both composers had worked together... collaborating on some scenes, divvying up others, to create something cohesive while still maintaining each of their ICONIC styles... ok im done fantasizing
I have to agree, i found it very strange when i found out the North Americans actually had a brand new soundtrack, and i was like "This doesn't sound like Dragon Ball music, but hype it is.", and it very much isn't a DB TM style, but it certainly has more energy.

Super Buu's theme is the perfect song that underscores why Bruce Faulconer's score is a must. It embodies everything about Majin Buu. It's literally perfect for that character. Unconstrained mayhem and chaos.

+SuperSaiyanMatthew There's a reason DBZ had to have filler. Unless you wanted to wait ages in between episodes for the next one that is. Either way Z is still better than Kai. Kai tries to be more realistic with the voice acting and it comes across as boring, none of the voice performances have any personality behind them. Kai will never be anywhere close to the popularity of the main series so it's best to just move on at this point and stop the comparisons.
"A Little Help From a Friend" might just be my favorite track from the series. What a great way of conveying the spirit and the thinking nature of Piccolo.

@@cinehamal5967 HE did a lot of sound directing for the series, the tone and feel was all him but the creation of those independent soundtracks were actually not his so there is a big controversy on who did what. He himself only made a few tracks but laid the ground work for the rest.

The funny thing is Freeza and cell are more interesting characters it would have been way more cool to see Goku fighting against them as they took over hell or something and you still could have had Pikkon in the story.

Every theme is amazing, brings me right back to my kick ass childhood, being a 90's baby was a great time to be a dbz fan, bruce falconer, morgan studios, and whoever else who worked there asses off in creativity to make these themes are great people, thank you for the memories, I'm trying to do the same for my son as of today

I don't know why, but Piccolo's theme, "A Little Help From a Friend" has always been my favorite ...so serene and serious. Brings me back to when life was simple, and when DBZ was why I'd race home from school on my old rusty red bicycle.

Watching the same scenes with the original soundtrack vs Faulconer's (e.g. goku's SSJ3 transformation) and switching between is something I recommend. To really appreciate what this soundtrack does.
I think this was played when Porunga was first summoned on Namek, Epic because hes far bigger and more powerful than Shenron.. you could tell Krillin and Gohan were looping out when they saw him for the first time.
Faulconer’s a genius. His compositions and instrumentation’s are incredible. This is what made the show so great. Every great piece of art and animation is complimented by the music. Same with video games.
Today's kids will never know that DBZ with Bruce Faulconer score was the best version of DBZ. You won't find episodes with this music online anymore... I'm so glad I have all episodes of it on my pc still.
It’s 2021 and all of these still give me goose bumps. This is how I grew up with DBZ and it just has so much emotion and intensity in it. Will always be how I remember DBZ!
With the action, emotion, story, characters, villains (up until to Cell) this to me is the greatest series ever. Plus the soundtracks it has, unbelievable, it just puts it on another level. It is just perfection.

Incorrect, that soundtrack appears in 064b between 08:00 and 10:00, titled Gohan Attacks. This is where he fights Frieza in his second form, after Frieza killed Krillin.
Disq glitchhunter09 is correct. The track is incorrectly named. Mike wrote the track in between the Frieza and Garlic Jr Sagas, so unless Funimation went in on a later release and edited it into the Frieza Saga it would not appear there. btw I am the credited music editor (Scott Morgan) who established this theme as Gohan's theme through usage and am also the guitarist who played the power chords in the recording.
Well it definitely isn't in the Remastered DVDs. (which would be the latest funimation production to feature Falconer production's music) So I can verify that Morgan.
I think Falconer's tracks are amazing, but I can see how fans of the original score thought they were unfitting. It feels right to me because this is the score I heard when I first watched DBZ when I was 13 (I think? Something like that).
Because we're Americans. The show's score was re-done so that it would appeal to an American audience, and that's not a bad thing. I don't think Dragon Ball Z would have been popular in the US had it kept the original Japanese score, which would have felt out of place for many American viewers. Heck, even for modern Japanese viewers, the 1990s score is awkward. There is a reason why the Dragon Ball Super score sounds so different from the original Dragon Ball Z score. Tastes change with time; compare the score of a 1990s American action movie to one released today and you'll see what I mean.

The entire saga was about trying to find a way to get beyond the power of the Super Saiyan. Goku merely perfected SSJ. He was the only one who achieved SSJ2, making him their worthy champion. If he'd stayed the hero in the Buu saga, then maybe.
Its so anticlimactic that after all those episodes hyping up Gohans power up, he DOES NOTHING with it and after a couple of episodes the focus goes back to Goku and Vegeta...

Since this is one of the most popular Faulconer music uploads, I feel a duty to comment that Bruce did NOT compose over 90% of these songs. The vast majority of this soundtrack was composed by his then-employees Mike Smith, Scott Morgan, and Julius Dobos. If you look this info up on RUclips you'll find some very informative videos and interviews.
Yeah there's a few reddit posts discussing this and providing credible sources for it which I would suggest over a RUclips video.
It's a problem in the entertainment industry for as long as we can remember; increasing the brand name usually requires exclusion of those who made it great.
For example, when people think of the video game Fallout, the first thing that comes to mind is Bethesda, if it's a person then it's Todd Howard, but the person actually responsible for Fallout's existence is Tim Cain. It's always sad to see that those who pay your salary will always get the credit.

Oh goodness, I am 29 and haven't heard this stuff for a while and I am in tears. I didn't remember what these feelings felt like. I feel like I let my younger self down so much. I'm 26 so was a little younger than you when started watching DBZ but we both watched it at the same time since I was 4 (99 onwards, first release of Funimation dub). The memories come back to me again listening to this. I too let my younger self down. I had hopes and dreams and I tried so hard but I failed to make them come true, I had a very rough childhood, rough life and it ill-equiped me for adulthood. I made some grave mistakes that put my life in jeopardy and made it harder to live, working trying to support myself became difficult, I no longer have any family to turn to because of what they did to me through years of alcohol physical and psychological abuse and neglect mainly at the hands of my mother and how they turned their backs after screwing with me earlier in life before I became an adult, even spent some time in foster care. I realized that there was so much I could have done when I was 18, I had so much potential despite the hardship I faced, I was and still am quite bright and was capable of finding something that I love doing for work and follow my own dreams, run my own business doing something I enjoy, taking care of my body and my mind better and also my finances too so that I didn't have to struggle but I messed up, suffered from alcohol addiction drinking so much every single day while working due to trauma from my past and that addiction was worst when I almost turned 19 all the way till I was 23. I only started to beat the addiction after that and cut down significantly, now I rarely drink twice a month and no more than two drinks. The alcohol itself is not a problem if not going overboard, but I felt like I had to have so much back then to drown the pain, I then suffered addiction to painkillers during this time. I lost a lot because I lost my way, I was still very damaged from my past and suffered breakdowns, legal issues as well piled up when I was falsely accused of crime I didn't commit (false assault accusation) which I had to fight for months until the charges were finally dropped, being so scared the entire time that I would end up in prison for a crime I didn't commit and it took a serious toll on my mental health and affected work, lost job due to redundancy and was even made homeless because the landlord no longer wanted to rent the room I was staying at and decided to sell the property instead with no notice whatsoever. The time I spent homeless while working at the same time trying to save up for a deposit on another place was some of the hardest times of my life and I spent so long in that situation out in the cold, nowhere to shower, nowhere to sleep and homelessness charities and local government wouldn't support me finding a temporary place because I was working full time until I lost my job due to the situation and how much of a toll it took on me. I get nightmares and flashbacks every time I remember the days I had to sleep under cold bridges in the ice knowing that if I died nobody would give a damn or would even try to help me if they found me shivering in the cold. I dealt with a lot of pain in my life and I watch this and I cry sometimes knowing how different things could have been if I had just been stronger, more focused and had more faith in myself. I feel your pain, I really do. Yeah, The Dragon Theme is a cut above the rest. I mean, it's played at the most intense action moments in the series, it's supposed to be the gold standard.
Man, the original Japanese score may be more classic and iconically Dragonball, but the Faulconer score just has the hype factor that the original doesn't. Imagine how hype it would have been if both composers had worked together... collaborating on some scenes, divvying up others, to create something cohesive while still maintaining each of their ICONIC styles... ok im done fantasizing
I have to agree, i found it very strange when i found out the North Americans actually had a brand new soundtrack, and i was like "This doesn't sound like Dragon Ball music, but hype it is.", and it very much isn't a DB TM style, but it certainly has more energy.

Super Buu's theme is the perfect song that underscores why Bruce Faulconer's score is a must. It embodies everything about Majin Buu. It's literally perfect for that character. Unconstrained mayhem and chaos.

Kai tries to be more realistic with the voice acting and it comes across as boring, none of the voice performances have any personality behind them. Kai will never be anywhere close to the popularity of the main series so it's best to just move on at this point and stop the comparisons.
I love DBZ Kai it's the best version of dragon ball z but I wish Kai had the Bruce faulconer music too.

I really do bot care for any of the non cannon charterers to be honest except maybe cooler a little bit. I thought the epsiode he was was in where he knocked out cell and freeza with one hit was lame.Maybe I could see freeza before at that time,but not cell. I thought that was poor writing to be honest. The funny thing is Freeza and cell are more interesting characters it would have been way more cool to see Goku fighting against them as they took over hell or something and you still could have had Pikkon in the story.

The Dragon Theme remains badass to this day. Just envision Shenron appearing.
I think this was played when Porunga was first summoned on Namek, Epic because hes far bigger and more powerful than Shenron.. you could tell Krillin and Gohan were looping out when they saw him for the first time.
Faulconer’s a genius. His compositions and instrumentation’s are incredible. This is what made the show so great. Every great piece of art and animation is complimented by the music. Same with video games.
Faulconer only composed a few tracks actually. Mike Smith, Scott Morgan and Julius Dobos are the real geniuses behind most of this soundtrack.

You know what's funny? Gohan fights Frieza wasn't actually used at all in the Frieza saga. It didn't make an appearance until Garlic Jr. Saga.
Incorrect, that soundtrack appears in 064b between 08:00 and 10:00, titled Gohan Attacks. This is where he fights Frieza in his second form, after Frieza killed Krillin.

Mike wrote the track in between the Frieza and Garlic Jr Sagas, so unless Funimation went in on a later release and edited it into the Frieza Saga it would not appear there. btw I am the credited music editor (Scott Morgan) who established this theme as Gohan's theme through usage and am also the guitarist who played the power chords in the recording.
Well it definitely isn't in the Remastered DVDs. (which would be the latest funimation production to feature Falconer production's music) So I can verify that Morgan.
I think Falconer's tracks are amazing, but I can see how fans of the original score thought they were unfitting. It feels right to me because this is the score I heard when I first watched DBZ when I was 13 (I think? Something like that).

Because we're Americans. The show's score was re-done so that it would appeal to an American audience, and that's not a bad thing. I don't think Dragon Ball Z would have been popular in the US had it kept the original Japanese score, which would have felt out of place for many American viewers.
Heck, even for modern Japanese viewers, the 1990s score is awkward. There is a reason why the Dragon Ball Super score sounds so different from the original Dragon Ball Z score. Tastes change with time; compare the score of a 1990s American action movie to one released today and you'll see what I mean.

Gohan angers 1 just gives me great nostalgia. The feeling of feeling like young gohan. Trying to hold onto your innocence but wanting to save everyone. Surely a great theme for that series revolving around Gohan

They used the dragon theme in the final Kamehameha with Cell. Fucking awesome. The series should have ended there.

helllllllll no the series shouldnt have ended there, they shouldve just made gohan more useful past the buu saga! also why would you even want to skip mystic gohan, the second best moment of gohan?
gohan was already the most powerful character after cell arc so we didnt need another arc of gohan. shouldve ended at cell.
Pestilentia l You mean the one that got beaten in 3 episodes? No thank you. He didn't need to fall and be reborn again when his development had been the only truly perfect thing about the series. The entire saga was about trying to find a way to get beyond the power of the Super Saiyan. Goku merely perfected SSJ. He was the only one who achieved SSJ2, making him their worthy champion. If he'd stayed the hero in the Buu saga, then maybe.
Its so anticlimactic that after all those episodes hyping up Gohans power up, he DOES NOTHING with it and after a couple of episodes the focus goes back to Goku and Vegeta...
