@The Fantom Convoy Kai wasn't even successful as far as Toei is concerned. And while we're on remakes, the series has to be reanimated for widescreen, no more cropping old 4:3 footage. The Falconer music was legendary and even though they remade it, Kai just couldn't compete with the drama and flavour the OG music gave Z.
I loved both soundtracks. It wasn't Falconer's fault the editors/producers spammed the music without any silent spaces like the original series. I think that hurt the dub more than anything--you need that audio "negative space" if you will. Not every scene needs BGM, you gotta let some things breathe.
true, i think they could have calmed down a bit, but I noticed the Ocean dub had that same issue too. It's weird because I don't remember that being a major problem with other shows besides DBZ.
I'm watching the funi run of dbz again as we speak and honestly I don't even notice the lack of silence at all. Many times the score is incredibly quiet in the background for that purpose, and I find that the choice of songs in the score is absolutely fantastic. I really don't see how it's noticeable or distracting for some, though I am a big prog music buff so it doesn't bother me to have constant sounds.
