Only had mine for a week. I absolutely love it. If you train your mirrors correctly, the blind spots aren't an issue. Fuel...well I knew she was thirsty going in. Which is why once the novelty wears off, I'll be riding my bike to work.....but I am soooo glad I got one. My daughter loves it too.
I've been daily driving mine for 7+ years, with occasional offloading, and man I won't go to another vehicle ever. However, I do agree with the gas mileage on this thing. I wish it would be more efficient.
I love my FJ. I use it as a daily driver and it’s fabulous. The blind spots don’t bug me. The only issue I even have is if I’m parallel parking in front of a little Porsche where it just disappears. Otherwise the only thing I’d agree with is the mileage but you know that going in. It’s comfortable, it’s poised for a vehicle its size, it drives like a car and my 10 year old absolutely loves it too. As far as not having enough space… ??? I sleep in the back of it when I go to the drive in and am completely comfortable. I’ve owned Alfa Romeos and Audis and I love those, but this is still the favorite car I’ve ever owned.
I own a 2007 fj and it hasnt disappointed me yet, yes the mpg is terrible, but, expected since I got it, takes me whenever I want every season of the year and everytime I hopped on to it makes me and my gf smile.
Sup from South Africa 100% agree with you on every point. Been daily driving mine now for the past 3 years. But I wont trade it for anything ever! I weekend Warrior and Overland with it, and hasn't let me down once!
To fix the blind spots center the rear view mirror and adjusts the side mirrors out to the max and the blind spots will disappear. Try it and watch vehicles as they pass you on the right and left. I guarantee tee it.
You can even buy blind spot assistance lights, Ive got them in mine, but i modified some parking sensors i had, so if a car enters my blind spot a little orange led turns on inside the mirror casing on the side the vehicle is encroaching. Just in case, but once your used to operating it you learn to look anyway.

Had mine 10 years. Daily drove it for 5 years. Perfect daily driver. I only stopped using it for a daily when I decided to get a used Civic as a daily. I wanted to keep miles off my FJ and only use it when needed (in winter, for the cargo room, or adventures). Saves a lot of gas money also, getting double the mileage. My 2012 FJ has just 85k miles on it.
Mine is 100% stock, other than the tires of course (I put on Duratrac tires). As for handling, it is actually pretty amazing for an offroad truck like this. I've had 6 Jeeps. Two XJ Cherokees (both around year 2000), 3 Wranglers (1 TJ, 2 JK's), and a Commander. The Commander was still a fairly good off roader, but not on the level of the others. I will say the Commander was the smoothest and best for driving. Drove it from Chicago to San Diego and back, and stopped all in between. I also took my FJ all over the country from Chicago to NY and Florida, and more. The FJ beats the Wranglers and Cherokees by far on the road. The only one that was better for on road driving was the Commander.
Before I got my FJ I was driving a 2007 toyota hiace van converted into a stealth camper so it had no rear windows, the FJ has less blind spots and better handling than I'm used to and i enjoy driving it so much I am disappointed when the daily commute is over. FJ Cruiser daily driver for life.
1. 17 mpg is better than I get out of my 92 OBS Chevy C1500 V-8. 2. An FJ doesn't even pretend to be a family vehicle. Totally retro-utilitarian. 3. Wanna Camaro, buy a Camaro. 4. Blind spots? Try driving an 18 wheeler. That's why God made side mirrors, learn to use them. People don't drive FJs cause they are functionally correct. People drive FJs because, as stated, they are "DOPE" !
FJ Cruiser is my daily, and well I can handle the blindspots. But I am old and not an entitled child. As far as the gas milage goes, you gotta pay to play. If you need fuel economy buy a car.
Well said, and perhaps helpful for people who are considering it without... um... looking into what it's all about. It's designed from the ground up as an off-road vehicle. Don't expect it to be anything but that, and you won't be disappointed. It's like people complaining that a Jeep has a stiff ride and is top-heavy; well... yeah. That's how it's designed. I personally "daily drive" my FJ, but then I'm basically retired so I maybe fill my tank once or twice a month unless I'm on an excursion somewhere. It just *goes* wherever I want it to, and that's what's important to me more than anything else. Road, no road, doesn't matter. It just goes. Hauls all my camping and prospecting gear quite neatly. I have installed a few cameras and electronics to help with the visibility, as well as comms and navigation systems, but those are just conveniences. I originally bought it to haul my food cart around, and it was perfect for that, but now it's just for my pleasure in diving out into the wilderness and exploring. And for that, it's even better. :-)
The FJ Cruiser must be driven. You have to pay attention when you drive it. You have to be aware. No auto-lane correct or other junk. You drive it. Which is fantastic.

For any vehicle the recommended mirror adjustments are rear view should show the whole window while in normal seated position. Lean to the right until you head iis in line with the center of your vehicle and adjust the right side mirror so it barely shows the right side of your vehicle. For the left side mirror lean to the left till your head touches the silent side window and adjust the left side mirror so you barely see the left side of your vehicle. Been driving mine since 2007. There are NO blindspots on the FJ! So over hearing this. Learn how to aim your mirrors. I can see each lane for miles rear ward, I just don't get it.
I am mostly discussing the B Pillar blind spot, when coming up to weird intersections it is very noticeably blocking the view of traffic. The merge blind spot can be fixed with the circle wide view stick on mirrors

Seems like you don't need a FJ daily. Or live somewhere you'd need a FJ type vehicle to get from A to B daily.
Yep I had similar FJ as a daily driver. 🙂
My dad has daily driven one since 2012 and it still hast broken we only had too replace the windshield twice and the shocks once and the tires only 3 times
Hi, I’m new. I’m looking tomorrow to get one.
Welcome aboard, hope you enjoy it!
I daily mine and get about 13 mpg no complaints here
Niceeeeeee
Loved my FJ Cruiser.
Glad to hear!
I dont see how any of those reasons other than Gas mileage supports not using it as a daily driver.
Cool, Do as you please 👊
They say it only gets 11gals of gas per mile City? Like on some Toyota ads.
It's all accurate, i was debating between my k2500 and this i went for the k2500, gas milleage yep it sting more I'm sure lol
❤❤❤❤❤❤
My Gen 4 4runner with the v6 gives me about 20 ( +1 /-1) depending on How you drive
Yeah the 4runners have pretty good fuel mileage for their size 💪🏼
I wish I had one
Click bait
We call it the washing machine in Middle East it’s so hated here I do too 😝
Doesn’t sting if you focus on making more cheddar vs worrying about what gas costs. Just sayin. Real talk.
A tank does not handle that good either. But I choose to be in It
My daily driver and i love it and i get great gas on mine 07 phantom black
Diamond😂
blind spot fix=high tech rearview mirror
Now its production will be stopped in 2022 and I think its price will increase
Exactly, I expect them to rise dramatically over the next decade or so. They are gaining popularity and the numbers in existence will start to dwindle.
Meant to be driven at all times anywhere anyway.
I guess the FJ is kind of comparable to a 2 door jeep as far as comfort and capacity goes.
Exactly, it’s definitely a bit bigger but still smallish
Jeep don't compare in ride comfort to the FJ, Not even close.
Yeah... compared to a 2 dr Wrangler, the Fj is easier to get a rear passenger in and you have more trunk space
and the fj drives liek a car compared to any jeep. But when this dude said he likes to go fast im like righhhttt. well sell the fj and buy a porsche, you cant have racecar handling and balance with the prowess, reliability and economy of a hybrid all in one.
👏👏👏👍
Love mine . gas sucks but love it lol
I love FJ cruiser very reliable car and I been using it daily for past 2 years or so ….. mine is very fuel efficient so I don’t agree with you sorry for that.
Door dash in my 3 in lift 35 tire fj...i know i knoww..but im semi retired and i use the money to go fishing and buy silver coins.
That the best one I ever had I cannot come out of it I have a second vehicle I cannot park it for two days I have to get it back it looks am in a bolet proof body so thick
I know this is an old post, but you should take it down. It’s Toyotas version of a Jeep. If you think it drives bad, try a two door Jeep. I have both vehicles and both lifted. I don’t understand anything your saying. It was not meant to be a 4 door SUV. Keep posting tho.
