I have an amazing vegetable garden and I feel the exact same way as David about “ the orange.” I am amazed at the process of growing food. God gave the seed, the water and the soil. If we will follow certain “rules” about growing them......they magically produce fruit. It’s actually quite mind boggling. I cried one day as my tomatoes and peppers survived a strong windstorm and being pummeled by hail. I heard God say, “ if you feel that way about tomatoes, think of how I feel about you .”

  • @1orielle2

We need that orange seed story on a fridge magnet or big push button so that anytime we need a small boost we could just push a button and hear that tidbit of wisdom and knowledge!!

Davids comment about oranges reminded me of the BYU speech The Magnificence of Man by President Nelson. He says ” I have come to appreciate the magnificence of an orange-each droplet of juice neatly packaged in an edible container, joined with many other packets, grouped in sections, and all neatly wrapped in a disposable, biodegradable peel.” When referring to evidences of God. The talk is amazing and amazing and I highly encourage you to read!!

I love the way you teach... it’s so simple and touching and makes me laugh and cry . We all have our “orange” moments... because when you see trees flowers or a little baby... how is posible for that miracles being not planned by a God? All of this just suddenly happened? I don’t think so... there is a God , He is our Father and all of these things are created by a Highest God of the Universe. We are here with a purpose . Amazing class. Xx

🤍🍊🤍The Orange story brought to mind the scripture that teaches us that God is all around us, above us, below us and through us. I hold on to those feelings that have been evoked and invoked in me, and more so when I feel the Lord has gone MIA in my life, which is where I am at presently.

You can find God again. He wants to be found. He is in beautiful music, in the scriptures, you will find and feel him as you serve others, ponder your blessings with gratitude, as you fast, as you bear testimony of what you do know. Maybe God was and is there all the time, but you, my friend, just wandered away. Come back, reach and hold that iron rod again.

Your ways of teaching have made the Book of Mormon stories come alive for me in new ways. I've always read but never with the same excitement I feel now as I have your words scribbled in the margins of my scriptures. (The BOM of Journal edition rocks.) In all you teach, in all I learn, the message of "Come unto Christ"., Come Follow Him" is what I hear most loudly. Thank you for letting the Lord use you and your talents as instruments in His work!

Absolutely so timely & fantastic & helpful right now! I had an experience with a couple this past week who have had such a tug of war in their faith, have been bombarded with negative literature & info from their acquaintances from other faiths & the like. They have been only coming to Church over the past year but not all the time.We had stopped by with some soup & corn muffins as the Mom had a medical procedure. They invited us in & we got bombarded with all their intellectual questions & doubts. I felt not fully equipped in the intellectual direction but I felt confident in what I knew. I expressed how God loves them so much, that He is mindful of their concerns & answers will come. That putting love & time into their family was one of the most important callings God has given them. That through loving & serving their family the Holy Ghost will guide them and Heavenly Father will provide knowledge to help them. They had not read the Book of Mormon yet so I challenged them to read , even if they started with 5 minutes at a time. My husbands jovial and experienced fatherly nature was a great addition to the conversation leaving everyone in good spirits. It was an experience that taught me that even though I did not feel equipped to the task - that through small & simple means - great things can come to pass. I need to work on being better prepared - Come Follow Me Study this year has opened up so much for my confidence and understanding. Thank you from my heart. ❤️

I think the reason they are anti-Christ is because they have set themselves above Him. They believe God already loves them best, they are already holy and need no repentance and God already chose them to be saved. In their mind there would be no need of a Saviour. We have to be so careful when we in the Church of Jesus Christ begin to think we have all truth and are chosen and elect. We have to remember it is only because we have been cleansed by the blood of Christ through His unimaginable mercy, love and grace for us!

Are you going to have a "Winter of Warriors" once winter in the U.S. gets here? What a wonderful idea/name. ~ Also, is the "Orange" story written down somewhere? I would love to enter it into my journal. ~ Thanks for all you do to keep us connected with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ through the scriptures. I feel so blessed to have found "Don't Miss This". You both are on my Dream Team!!

My take on the people of Ammon ( in the city of Jershon) has focused on the part of the verse that says they were more wise than many of the Nephites, meaning they immediately recognized that Korihor’s teachings were false and weren’t going to waste time listening to him. Remember the great faith they had, to lay down their weapons and even die rather than violate their covenants. Surely they knew who their faith was in (Christ) so would know Korihor was teaching false doctrine. I never imagined that their wisdom was in taking him to someone whose teachings and understanding they trusted (Ammon) in order to have him reassure them of the correct answers. Interesting to think about.

I still dive into the BOM even though this year is D&C.
The difference between the two prayers are like you said there was no Christ in the prayer of the Zoramites It was an Anit-Christ prayer. But the sad part was in Alma 31:29 When they try to make Heavenly Father anti-Christ. Alma is speaking to God and his heart is braking that the Zoramites believed that God told them that there was no Christ. 😢

Chapter 31 discussion of the Zoramites Prayer is that they Worship "WEEKLY and WEAKLY" (vs. 15-18) Then we have a Classic Compare n Contrast to Alma's Prayer (vs.26-35) Ah, Pride vs. Humility. Korihor (30:56) and the Zoramites BOTH found out sadly that Satan is a TERRIBLE PAYMASTER !! The Dream Team was chosen by Alma but more importantly by the Lord. They were chosen BEFORE they were born for this mighty work among a Prideful People. One day, MANY will rise up and call them blessed !!

You make the scriptures come alive to me and enlighten me in so many different ways. Just a question...in Alma chapter 31 verse 36 when Alma "claps his hands upon them" and then they were filled with the spirit, what do you think that means? Does clap have a different meaning than we know of today?

    • @shelliereich515
      @shelliereich515 4 года назад

In the 1828 edition of the Noah Webster Dictionary (which reflects English usage in the days of the Prophet Joseph Smith), the word “clapped” is defined as “to thrust or put on.” In other words “laid his hands on” each one of them.

Hi, I absolutely love your podcasts, and I gain so much more insight from studying with you - thank you ❤❤ I have a request though - english is my first language, and so I understand you both perfectly. However, I am involved with teaching the gospel to some incredible people from Africa, whose first language isn't English, and whilst they understand English well, they get a bit lost with you guys, as when you get excited about what you are speaking about, the speed in which you talk increases. Would it be possible to request that you just slow it down a little please? You have such amazing insights, and you teach in a way that everyone can comprehend. Much love to you both ❤❤

I understand the thumbs down if you can’t get past the comments like blaming his mom for name and how he turned out, wanting to change a quote from Elder Benson as if he knew better, and a few more. However, overall it is good. He interrupts her often. Some of his comments are weak. Why criticize the grammar of the scriptures except to prove you know better? I enjoy their program, but this one wasn’t up to par.

I appreciate the work you’re doing with these sessions.
Something you just discussed around minute 45+ has me feeling unsettled and actually troubled. It sounded like you we’re trying to express that you believe all people (you listed examples including rough clothes, lifestyle, etc) should feel included in your (our) congregations. Do you realize that your next words marginalized all those groups of people whom you just said it would be anti-Christ to marginalize? You mentioned all of those groups and differences, then you said that Christ welcomed “the sinner.” You labeled anyone who may have been cast out or made to feel cast out or judged BY YOU/ your/ our congregation as the sinners.
