Good to see that you didn’t turn the Nuba off to make a smooth rim. I’ve seen several do that recently. Good looking burl and a good looking bowl. Well done Chad.
Thanks, Doug! It just seems like a shame to not use such an interesting feature. I considered two other designs and both would have kept the spikey outside too.
chad that is a nice dish my friend i love burls but ive never turned one and i really want to ha! u take care of yourself ok? just remember, God loves u, God bless. chris
Hey Chad, for such a "hardwood" stock, your end project is really delicate looking....a very nice touch indeed. Next....invest in a bowl gouge sharpener! Be well, stay healthy, and give the pups a big hug for me.
Thanks, Skip! I do have a Wolverine jig system and a 350 grit CBN wheel, so I get a nice sharp edge... that wood is just SO damn dry and hard. It dulled that gouge before I knew it. Thanks for watching!
Your Baby Rattle video popped up, right on time, my step daughter is having her first baby in a few weeks, a great idea, thanks for posting. I checked your channel and of course you have a new subscriber. Cheers from Sweden!
The exotics and burls are mostly pieces I've accumulated over the years from a variety of online and brick-and-mortar business. However, when I'm looking for something now, I usually start with eBay. Then I'll search for any smaller suppliers by googling what wood I'm looking for. Finally, I might look at some of the bigger online suppliers, but I've never actually bought from any of them I don't think (there's one with the worst e-commerce website I've ever seen, so I don't even bother with them).
I’ve used Myland’s system in the past, but lately I’ve been using a Minwax product for sanding sealer when I do use it. I mostly just use it on punky or uncooperative wood.
Nice project and video. Thanks for sharing!
Looks really nice Chad!
Lovely bowl...I just turned a gorgeous Maple burl cap and it had similar features as yours.
Maple burl is awesome... I haven't turned any in a long time. Thanks for watching!

Beautiful bowl Chad!
Where do you typically source your wood from? I guess more specifically, the specialty stuff?
