My Honest Opinion. TURKISH AIRLINES Boeing 777-300ER in Business Class in 2024 | A Flight Review

  • I have heard quite polarizing opinions about Turkish Airlines and their business class, and when I heard about their 2-3-2 Business Class layout on the B777, I was skeptical if my money spent for this flight was worth it. But I wanted to see it for myself, and share it with you. The cabin crew (well, just one of them) wasn't happy with me filming (what are they hiding?), but after explaining what I'm doing and that I'll hide the cabin crew as good as possible, he was okay with it. So here you go, I hope you find my content useful for any future flight bookings and decision making, especially when considering a premium ticket.

    I should mention that my business class overall rating also strongly considers the price I paid (value for money), which was in this case appr. USD 1700, from Stockholm to Hongkong via Istanbul, and back. If I had paid 3k or 4k+, my rating would have been lower accordingly.

    I flew with Turkish Airlines 4 times in the last year in business class, and every time I have had one or two flight attendants who were kinda rude, unfriendly and unwelcoming. Turkish Airlines should work on that!

    I try to limit my business class experiences to cabins with a 1-2-1 layout, or at least a layout where there is direct aisle access. Part of what makes the business class experience special is to have a good crew that is cordial and attentive. Since you did not have a friendly crew, and the cabin looked very cramped in the 2-3-2 layout, I would have only given Turkish a 5/10 score.

      Thank you for your comment. Honestly, on this trip I struggled finding a good business class deal, until I came across this quite affordable flight with TK, already knowing it’s going to be an old-fashioned business class. So I rather try this than no flight at all. Plan C would have been an Economy Class flight to Asia, but these offer much less to show and tell than the premium cabin.

    232 is pretty awful for business class if you're stuck with that middle 3 seat! Also, it would have been nice to see more of the bed as I feel it's very important for business class how well you can sleep.

      @@forgotmypassport The reviews are extremely helpful still, but yes I always consider the sleeping conditions ahead of everything else with international flights. Bad sleeping means I am tired, sore muscles and can thus lose 2-3 days recovering where I am not fully alert and able to enjoy my stays. It looks like with Turkish the middle seat must climb over the aisle passengers, unlike JAL etc where you have your own exit?

    • @forgotmypassport
      @forgotmypassport  5 месяцев назад

      @soobz that is indeed the case, and I‘m surprised such business class still exist. But it seems TK is not the only airline with a 2-3-2 Business class. I think some of the older B777 with Emirates have the same configuration. Luckily it seems, TK will install new seats as of next year.

      Not true. But I've had once a terrible female crew "serving" my section of Business Class. The males were ok. As if they had mental problems, incompetent too. A gentleman across the aisle, professor type, smiled at them politely each time there was interaction. By the time we reached the end of the longhaul flight, his smile had gone from his face completely.

    Thanks for your review. I liked your camera angles. I am a frequent Flier on Turkish Airlines. I have always found the crew to be polite and helpful on my flights. I'm shocked to hear that they simply walked right past your call light. Let's hope your return journey will have an engaging crew. I have flown all of their wide bodies, and yes, I agree with you. The 777 and A330 hard products are outdated. Their 787 and A350s are very nice.
    I fly often to Colombo, and it is an A330 service. Not the best. But I give Turkish the benefit of the doubt. Thanks again 😊

      Thank you for your kind words, and I’m happy to hear that you generally had good experience with the cabin crew. I guess I was just unlucky on this flight, which was a red-eye flight. This could also have contributed to the mood of some of the crew members I suppose. Anyway, I don’t want to blame anyone in particular, it’s just how I experienced this one flight. And overall it was still a good experience:)

    Greetings my friend! As always I love to get notifications that you have a new review. First, WOW! that lounge was impressive and stunning, I have never been to that country but would love to try their food. Second, I am so sorry that you encountered an ignorant, rude flight attendant, nothing worse to be treated like that especially in a premium class. Maybe he thought you were an American as tensions are high in the Middle East because of the jerk that is in power here in America or he was just a jerk himself but never fear! The airlines do watch and read these RUclips channels and they should to get feedback and make improvements. Yes sir! that meal service was very nice for business and something you just won’t see here in America as the airlines here have really gone strait to hell in many ways including service. But that was a nice touch to have a flickering tea light at your service, very nice ! Safe travels and Happy Easter to you and your family. God Bless … ->- Brian

      Thank you for your kind comment and support of my channel Brian!
      I‘d say in the majority of my flights, there is a crew member less motivated or having a worse day than others, and I think it’s an inconsistency that is barely avoidable. So I try not to have someone’s bad day ruin my day as well. But you are right, I hope airlines take note and maybe find ways to improve trainings (or even working conditions, which goes hand in hand with service performance). Cheers, Chris

    The legroom in the Business Class section looks absolutely MASSIVE. I would prefer this layout to the 1-2-1 layout since the legroom is better and hence sleeping is likely to be easier.

    I am surprised that they let Biz seats remain empty. If they announced last minute upgrades for maybe $500, or $1,000, I bet they could fill all those seats. Decades ago, Delta used to do that with domestic F seats.

    • @forgotmypassport
      @forgotmypassport  5 месяцев назад

      I have seen it with (very few) other airlines, where they would sell last minute upgrades at the gate. But I think most carries don’t do it to avoid loosing the full fare business class payers, as they‘d all speculate for a cheaper tactic.

    Um welche Uhrzeit war der Flug denn? Normal ist die Lounge abends so gegen 22 bis 1 Uhr immer voll und falls man einen Platz mit Steckdose sucht, dann kann man schon mal Pech haben. So leer wie in deinem Video habe ich jedenfalls die Lounge nie erlebt. Auch das die Business Class so leer ist, hatte ich auf meinen Flügen nach Kuala Lumpur, Singapur, Saigon oder Jakarta nie. Da war vielleicht mal ein oder 2 Sitze frei. Mit der Crew kann man Glück oder Pech haben aber ich hatte nie eine Crew, an die ich mich später nochmal erinnern konnte, weil es besonders war. Bei dir war dann die Crew wohl extrem schlecht.
    In der alten Business Class hat man auf jedenfall noch viel Platz. In der neuen C wäre so eine riesen Ablage wie im Otoman super. Aber an die Schuhschachtel muss man sich wohl gewöhnen. Auch von den luxuriösen 3 Fenstern muss man sich verabschieden. Es bleibt eigentlich nur noch ein Fenster, das Zweite ist schon hinter der Seitenschale vom Sitz versteckt.

      @forgotmypassport  4 месяца назад

      Ja vom Platz her ist diese alte Business Class nicht schlecht. Aber halt kaum Privatsphäre. Abflug war kurz nach Mitternacht, und ich war so um die 22 Uhr in der Lounge. War anfänglich praktisch leer, füllte sich gegen Mitternacht jedoch ziemlich rasch.

      Die Kabine ist aber oft voll, weil TK gerne mal 1 bis 2k billiger ist als Singapore, Lufthansa oder die Arabischen Airlines. Ein Flug aus Europa in der Business bekommt man oft für 1.800 bis 2.300 € hin und zurück. Da muss man dann halt auch etwas Abstriche machen. Wobei ich letztens die neue C im A350 geflogen bin und wirklich gut fand ich die jetzt nicht. Viel zu eng und wenige Ablagemöglichkeiten.

      I can relate to this review. Mirrors my experiences. Food on Turkish is exceptional. I've also had on Qatar, unfriendly and inept FAs in Business, ignoring call buttons, the red wine for my main meal I finally got with desert, stale bread you could feed ducks with.... Food portions are huge, but taste a league below TK. The same for the food in Qatar lounges.

    Turkish airlines quality has dropped COMPLETLY ! I fly 6 to 7 trip a year betwen JFK and IST. Back in 2014 and 2015 there wer ethe best. the food service in BC was that of a 5 star hotel. The flight attendants were anticipating your needs. Unfortunatly due to teh colapse of teh Turkish economy, so has the quality and service of TA. Gone are the amaing meals and dishes. Gone is teh service. And teh interiro of the 777 transatlantic fleet are horribly dated and ancient by modern standards. The only good thing goign on is the price for BC travel. Avoid Economy at all costs.
