I have learned this from a previous video of yours and it is really useful. I only have 1 and 2 on the dial but I use the standard A setting for landscape, 1 portrait and 2 action, thanks for these free tutorials....
As usual, such an great video!!! Thank you!!! Maybe I am wrong: just to keep my card memory settings, unless I'am in a hurry, instead of formating my sd card I just load it into my pc and erase photo folders and keep the data folder... So far, it has preserved my card memory settings for the next shooting run....
I really enjoy your workflows. Although I’ve decided to stick with S priority for action shots, let’s me have more choices in shutter speed and I don’t need to hold the custom button. Besides my sports lenses are F6.3 so I never feel like stopping down more. Maybe one day when I spring for a 400 2.8!
Holding down the custom button is only necessary when using a recall custom hold memory and not the 1, 2 and 3 on the shoot ode dial. When using Shutter priority you have to be aware that it is possible to accidentally overexpose or underexpose or risk the camera losing Phase Detect AF on all cameras except the A1. If you think you know your camera you may need to think again.
@@AlphaCreativeSkills thanks yeah I do save it to the custom settings so it remembers my full setup. I just found I was never changing my aperture but would change my shutter speed often so I figured I would change from aperture with min shutter speed back to shutter priority. But it’s all based on your workflow with little tweaks that worked for my setup. I appreciate the feedback!
Love ur vids Mark! I’m very interested in ur ebooks. I went to ur Patreon page and it says there is a $10 monthly charge. In the description it says there is a one time payment to access ur ebooks. Is this correct?

Hey, love your content, I plan to buy a sony A7RV with a 55mm, 1.8f zeiss lens and I wanted to know if the camsets are compatible with this lens or I have to make changes ? looking forward to reading you !
Mark, may not be pertaining to this particular video, but I have seen your style to be as "tripod less" as possible. I completely agree and I don't use tripod for majority of the day shots also unless long exposure. One question that occurred, being a wildlife enthusiast myself, what do you do for your 400mm big glass? Sony gear is "handhold-able" for a short time. Do you not carry tripod for the 400mm also?
I shoot at sporting events with the 400 F2.8 GM hand-held. Even if the match lasts more than hour or a MotoGP lasts for three days. The camera sonly raised for a minute at a time. I also shoot a lot of wildlife without a tripod - sometimes I am on the ground with my elbow either on the ground or on my leg supporting the weight of the lens. If you were a bird photographer waiting for for extended periods of time trying to capture a particular bird in flight then I guess supporting the weight of the lens hand-held may become a pain - hence the use of gimbals for these photographers. I have a short attention span so tend to pick subjects where I am reasonably confident of capturing images frequently without having to use a tripod. If the weight of the 400 GM Prime is likely to become a problem I will be using my 100-400 GM
hello, i enjoyed your video but i was wondering if i download the camset would it change my initial setup for my camera and other mods like aperture priority shutter speed priority shutter or auto? Thank you in advance for your answer

very nice tuto as well as the one about memories. - Should we understand that you setup all your buttons to global settings and never to functions eye detection, human/animal, AM/MF? focus area,... as seen on all tutos on youtube ? - In your custom hold 1, I read "tracking (is it spot ?)" and AFON=ON. What does AFON=ON mean on custom hold 1 ? you told us you are using half pressed shutter now to focus, not back button focus anymore. - Memories disappear when you format card. I never format. does that mean that "delete images" keep memories alive on card ? If you only use memories, how do you manage them to backup and restore at each formating ? - aren't 3 (6 ?) custom hold redundant with settings 1-3 ?
The existing A9III CAMSET on my Patreon support channel works with version 1.00 and version 2.00 of the A9III firmware. Please use the Patreon forums to ask these questions as I can only get to respond to a small percentage of comments that I see on RUclips (I have had to disable notification on RUclips).
Thanks. Unfortunately my A9 requires a mechanical change of drive and focus on the left upper dial. I find that truly cumbersome..is there a way to electronically change those functions on the A9?
Same story here. Fast action shots aren't frequent for me, so I kept Action on 2. I put Landscape on M1 (so still PAL) because the landscape doesn't often move while being photographed: if it does, I may have bigger problems than getting a photograph. Light may change rapidly, but not faster than I can adjust settings. The M1-M3 settings are backed up to my computer, so I can reload them if I format or replace the card. If I forget to do that, I still have four decades of photography memory between my ears to draw on, including full manual mode, for any shooting situation.
You can set up a third group of settings on P, A, S or M and when you return from 1 or 2 those settings are retained. Unfortunately any changes will have to be reinstated when putting the camera away. There is also the option to use one of your older cards for storing the M1 to M4 memories - a card that you don't shoot to and one that you don't format. After loading the memory you can eject the card as the camera does not have to have access to this card after loading the memory. Not ideal if you need speed, but if you put your landscape setting, astro setting or Timelapse settings on the card there is rarely a need for speed in these instances.

Hi Mark thx for those great videos. Sorry to bother but I'm quite confused with the (Sony Alpha 7 IV ) settings… What on earth is the difference between "Operation customize" and "Dial Customize" 😳 Thanks for any help !
There is a duplication of the Custom Key/Dial Set. for Movies and Stills. The Dial Customize menu has additional options for customising the dials such as AV/TV rotate etc.

The CAMSETs are compatible with specific cameras using any lens.

Hello Marc, will there also be a CamSet file for the new firmware 2.00 for ILCE9M3? If so, when can we expect it?

Dear Mark,
Can my Sony A7RIII use your CAMSET file to setting up the PAL Workflow as same as yours? Please advise. Thank you
The A7Rlll predates the CAMSET feature but my A7Rlll eBook guides you through the setup of the camera to use the PAL workflow
To create these memory settings for 1, 2 and 3 you recommend on this video, should I create these settings while under Aperture mode?
Yes
Thanks. Unfortunately my A9 requires a mechanical change of drive and focus on the left upper dial. I find that truly cumbersome..is there a way to electronically change those functions on the A9?
The Recall Custom Hold memories are able to override the Drive and Focus modes set by the upper dials.
I’m stuck with 2 preset buttons (A73). Is there any option to save more than that (except on the memory card)?
