Saddam Hussein's hanging ? As Scottish comedian, Frankie Boyle put it - ''Watching THAT, I thought...is there NOTHING on the internet that I WON'T masturbate to ?!''
Fun fact: In the beginning shot of the sex scene, the actor was told to approach the pig as if to have sex with it, and to keep moving until the director yelled "cut." The director never yelled "cut." The camera kept rolling until the actor couldn't take it anymore and broke character (right after he's seen reaching for the pig's hip).
Please don’t let this episode discourage you from watching the rest of the series.. it is by far the most disgusting out of all of them, but you have to admit this episode was brilliant
And the story isn't really "about" what the PM is being told to do but rather how people across the world reacted to it: treating it as just another spectacle. The shot towards the end of deserted streets is the point: no one is doing anything other than staring at screens.
True. When I started black mirror I had to force myself to go on with the series because the beginning of season one could easily throw you off without giving the series a real chance. Also it's not just sci-fi horror as the show is often categorised but it's more criticism of technology and society presented as a thriller. I recommended it to a friend of mine but due to episode one she stopped watching and never picked it up again.
Yeah, I watched this because my best friend suggested it and came to the conclusion that she had no right to call me weird. I only continued because I heard there was a gay time travel episode.
Step 1: Preparation. Leave your decoy doll on the abandoned campus (they said it'd been abandoned for 2 years so that's likely how long the planning session went for), chart a route for your hideout free of CCTV, study your IPs and VPNs. Step 2: Kidnap the princess; hardest step in the plan by far, the show presents a what-if scenario that really doesn't match the princess' position in society. Artist either used a tranquilizer handgun from a medium distance or approached them with nonthreatening demeanor and pricked them before they could realize it, either way you cut it, an artist taking down 2 trained bodyguards is really crazy; most real scenario, he used the tranquilizers for the job. The fact that he did it on a lower security event proves he had the whole plan ready to go and was just waiting for the best chance. Step 3: Upload the video using a VPN that passes through a non EU member or associate country; hardest step, it can be a bitch to be done in Britain, very doable with satellite internet though. Preferably have the laptop on the decoy set with a program that allows it to receive a signal (again, preferably an untraceable one such as constantly checking for a specific change in a website that you can upload on your own) and upload the video again from it. Step 4: get a man to fuck a pig, because apparently that was the plan .__. It's really not crazy undoable, and the only suspension of disbelief part of it *is* that he managed to kidnap her in the first place.
@Nymeria73 Ah yes that's her name! She's one of those actors that's in everything but people don't necessarily know her name. The first think I saw her in was Stephen Polliakoff's miniseries 'Perfect Strangers' which is an all time favourite of mine (and also stars Toby Stephens of Black Sails fame!)
@Evdog04 well first of all, there's only 19 episodes. But even if it was 22, compared to just about every other show out there/every other show they're reacting to, it's nothing. That's still less than half a year. Consider how many episodes were in both Avatar & Korra. they were in the Avatar universe for like a couple years, lol. If you're doing a show like supernatural or doctor who, it will be SEVERAL years. They'll be done with this before you know it.
yah i know, but i don't think it's a big deal. by my calculations, if they do once a week they'll be done with 14/19 episodes by the end of december. so they won't start the new season (if they decide to do it) too long after it comes out. weekly reactions always make it feel like forever...but at least this show won't take years to get through, unlike some of my other favorites. lol
They brushed over the fact that it's part of the royal family way too easy or didn't even acknowledge it in parts of the after discussion. "Would you do this to save a girl" or relating it to any other person. Dude, it's not just a girl, it's a princess, member of the British royal family, and the Prime Minister.
I think what I like the most about this show is that it shows the way we currently react to technology, but in a completely crazy setting. There isn't an episode in Black Mirror where you don't end up thinking: "Wow, imagine if this was happening now!" and then 2 seconds later you realize that we are living through this.
Shane: 'no one voted for it' ??? you've never put it on a poll haha. regardless, i'm very happy you guys are doing this now. one of the most thought-out series i've ever seen. can't wait to see future discussions.

Ohhhhhh how far they have yet to fall down the Black Mirror hope despair xxx Can’t wait to see their reaction to Entire History of You, White Bear, Shut Up And Dance and Hated In The Nation And Black Museum in particular xxx
*SPOILERS* Lol I dunno why, but Entire History of You frustrated me to no end. I loved the technological device of the episode and the effects it had on people's lives...but I hated the couple and had no idea why they were together, haha.
I'm really glad they enjoyed this episode. I might be wrong but I feel like the majority of people that are down on this episode are Americans (that's not a criticism. Just different preferences etc). I'm a MASSIVE fan of Charlie Brooker, the showrunner, and had read all his books before Black Mirror aired. This episode was definitely shocking and pretty stomach churning but totally Brookeresque and not too much for me (as I've heard it is for others). So hyped to see Blind Wave react to my favourite eps!
I 100% agree and I really don't get the whole "Don't start at episode 1 thing" that people say because imo this episode is so close to reality it feels like Brooker was making a statement. Also great to see the guys react to more British shows!!
@@jameshughes7946 Same. As long as they react to British shows I'll be a Patron! (Luther or Misfits next please!!) Agreed about not really getting why people recommend skipping the first episode. I remember when it aired, I had that classic Black Mirror moment where the show cuts to black and I saw my reflection in the TV and remember thinking "Jesus Christ, Charlie". I'm glad you're still going to check out the next episode. I'm sure you'll be sold the more you watch.
This is great! I've always told people to start with the second episode because they might be given the wrong impression about the show with the first one. Be prepared for some very abstract social commentary in episodes to come.
Aaah! Such excellent writing. I love that your overall synopsis wasn't along the lines of "too weird to be enjoyable & brilliant", like I've seen a lot of reviewers react. (Except Rick who takes a premise set in a fictional-reality, way too seriously). With all the extravagant budgets 'Black Mirror' adopted in later, more recent episodes, I still think this is one of the best episodes of the entire series. Its satire, social commentary & dark humour were just on point. Perfect. I laugh every time we are shown the empty streets because everyone is inside watching.
What about Philip K. Dick's Electric Dreams?..... It's heavier in the Sci-Fi than Black Mirror, but it also has a good cast (Bryan Cranston is in one of the episodes).
So glad they're doing this and particularly pleased with Eric's reaction. Interested to see what they make of the next episode. I feel at the time this was made (2011?) a lot of the commentary was a bit more obvious than it is all these years later. My memory is a bit hazy so I'm probably forgetting some things, but they were right to mention the beheading videos as I think there were some high-profile ones around then which would've been a reference point, and following things like the 2010 election and the Arab spring there was a lot of attention on the relatively new social media and the way that the changing tides of public opinion could be immediately followed and reacted to, which I think is a big part of what this episode is about. There was also the very specific point about things being kept out of the UK media that could be easily read in the international press, as that was happening with a number of stories suppressed in the UK with court injuctions around that time.
This one, Waldo Moment, and Nosedive are the most “realistic” episodes (most based in reality w/o crazy tech). I feel Rick will like all the other eps and won’t be over analytical. Much easier to suspend disbelief for them.
The name of the actor playing the prime minister is Rory Kinnear and he also plays Frankenstein's creature in Penny Dreadful (where he plays with Eva Green one the best acted scenes I've seen in a television show in my opinion). Apparently, he also plays in the last James Bond reboot, but I can't remember which caracter...
Oh my god finally, I've suggested this for about 3 years. So happy. Can't wait to see how they deal with each episode, particularly as they can hate one and love the next.
Wow, this is a nice surprise. I'm looking more forward to your reactions to this series than the regular Fall TV schedule! lol EDIT: The guy in the middle just doesn't buy it. Expected that reaction from Rick- always looking for something wrong, everyone is dumber than him attitude- but hey that’s fine he’s entitled to his opinion. 🙄
People's brains work differently, and for some, noticing errors just comes naturally. I think Rick pointing out when stuff doesn't make sense to him is just part of his viewing experience. You don't need to think everything is perfect about a show to enjoy it. [Edit]: I hadn't finished watching when I replied, and I do see what you're saying. But, in addition what I've mentioned, I also just think Rick was uncomfortable. A lot of times, when something bothers us, we don't want it to make sense. And seeing as most people agree this is one of the most morbid episodes, I'd say his defiance is pretty understandable.
@@justahumanpassingthrough5544 hey it’s been two years since I’ve watched this video so can’t really remember it, but appreciate your insight and over the past couple years I’ve grown to like Rick more! @@Haleyonthe_daily Oh haha dayum, I actually didn't expect a reply after seeing it was an old comment. I'm new to the channel and Rick is probably the one who is the most relatable for me, so it's nice to hear someone changed their mind about not liking him very much, heh.
My body was NOT ready for this but I will take it. And just in time for the new season in December. Okay, maybe a little late, they'll probably watch that in February (as they have to get through 19 episodes first, so 19 weeks), but still good, no problem.
I'm so happy you guys are reacting to Black Mirror. This show definitely starts with a bang (pun not intended). I love how much you discussed this episode, and I gotta say, I was living for Eric's reaction the whole time.
AMEN Aaron!!! For pointing out to Rick that he has a hard time suspending his disbelief when watching fictional TV shows!!! RICK, I think it is totally unrealistic of you to have an expectation that writer's of a fictional TV show write their stories to be 100% realistic in order for you to like a show. With such a high expectation Rick, you will never like a show that is good and I have to hear your baseless criticisms in these react videos. This is my frustration with Rick! Therefore Rick, just pretend that every FICTIONAL TV show you are about to watch is WWE. PLEASE! Then I might like your reactions to these react videos. Currently when I know Rick is in a react video, I dread watching them even though I like the other guy's reactions.
This could get interesting with their discussion and possibility vs probability. Many episodes are a distinct probably and some I think are even starting.

Think he was fairly new at this point and I vaguely remember being annoyed with his attitude back then haha

Oh haha dayum, I actually didn't expect a reply after seeing it was an old comment. I'm new to the channel and Rick is probably the one who is the most relatable for me, so it's nice to hear someone changed their mind about not liking him very much, heh.
YOURE FINALLY DOING BLACK MIRROR OMG IM GONNA CRY
Ughh I'm so ticked episode 2 is gone, not even on their site!
Please upload this as often as you can. Gonna be such a good series.
Omg yes i can't wait for when you guys get to 'white christmas' episode. Thanks for starting Black Mirror
THIS SHOW GETS wayYyYyyY better. KEEP WATHING
My body was NOT ready for this but I will take it. And just in time for the new season in December. Okay, maybe a little late, they'll probably watch that in February (as they have to get through 19 episodes first, so 19 weeks), but still good, no problem.
7:23 - 7:36 Calvin reacts. Awesome
I saw Black Mirror and clicked immediately!
PLEASE continue posting these Black Mirror reactions....DO.IT.
Y’all never seen this?!?! Oh fuck yea I’m ready for these upcoming reactions!!🤘🏽🤘🏽
this series is amazing
AWWWWWWW YESSSSSS! SO HAPPY WHEN I SAW THIS IN MY SUBSCRIPTION BOX
I haven't watched it yet but THANK YOU FOR UPLOADING THIS
Omg I can’t wait for your reaction to nosedive, shut up and dance and the one with Daniel kaluyya
This could get interesting with their discussion and possibility vs probability. Many episodes are a distinct probably and some I think are even starting.
Is there a chance they will continue the rest of the series?
HOLY SHIT I'M SO HAPPY YOU GUYS ARE REACTING TO BLACK MIRROR. YAS CHRISTMAS COME EARLY
So glad that Black Mirror is making the reactor rotation
