Rampages were dumb but it wasn't the worst part for me. The worst part was being forced to find the stupid birds I hate that part of the game with a passion
They could have circumvented this easily, hell even made a mini game where in each quest you go out and find the spirit birds and send them back to camp to a special spiribird feeder where each quest you start after would have you start out with all the spiribird powerups you accumulated till that point. Sounds stupid till you see the max spiribird at arena quests. Then it's more like why are these not in the wild? I think it would have rewarded going out of your way to hunt them down hell Maybe having you have to go where they hang out on the map to collect specific nectar occasionally to entice them to visit the said feeder back at camp every couple of hunts or so.
truuuue. me and my homies hate spiribirds. It was a neat idea but just felt like busy work, everyone just zooms to the monster anyway. RBG bird in the arena quests is king
Lol, its more of this could gave been cooler then it was and contributed to better balancing if it were required to get these buffs. Mines more of an assessment on how they could have made it less of a chore for little pay off overall, like you mentioned you never bothered to even get them the entire game. Some made spiribird tours. It's about accessibility overall they could have tweaked it the way I stated and made it more of a reason to hunt them down and simultaneouslymake the monsters tougher. Especially since the max rgb spiribirds seem to have a natural preference for arenas with no foliage to hide in. Or make you more of a badass for not collecting them. They are thus... irrelevant to both side of the coin, but they didn't or if they return do not have to be.
No apex monster armor is the worst thing in my opinion. Their fights are really cool, it's challenging and it has nice move variations, but the lack of good rewards for hunting them is just sad. I would love to farm apex mizutsune or Zinogre, they are fun to fight... Waisted potential...
I'm one of the few that really liked the rampages. What I used them for was getting a ton of parts quickly, especially from monsters I hated hunting. So lets say I needed Almudron parts, like the plates. Well I could hunt one taking 10-15 minutes of misery to do so, or pick a rampage that had Almudrons in it and get 3-4 hunts worth of quest rewards (so 3-4 times the chances to get a plate) in that same 10-15 minutes. I can't remember his name off hand, but the blue dragon that simped for Narwa, hated hunting him and before the title updates gave us a hunt just for him we had to hunt both him and Narwa for his parts. Or again pick a rampage and gun hum down easily.
Rampages just felt like i was wasting time waiting for the final boss (apex) to show up. But it was still more fun than waiting around in a Zorag Magdaros quest.
You still need to do a rampage to unlock high rank (with apex arzuros) and another rampage with Ibuchi (I think) to progress HR further. There might be more, but I am not far enough into the game yet.
There are 3 mandatory ones. 1. Rathian. 2. Apex azuros. 3. Ibushi. No more after that are required. However, you can potentially skip the rathian one specifically by doing the village quest line first.
@@OrAngelicBlitz8633 Right, that's what I did, village first and then I did the special quest that upgrades your hub rank, so I wasn't aware of the Rathian one.
Funny timing on this, I just started playing Rise for the second time, and was just today complaining to my partner about rampages and Apex’s, but couldn’t find the words to explain why I don’t like them besides, “They’re just not very fun.” It is the aspect of taking you out of the main Monster Hunter loop that I think gets to me the most. Monster Hunter is all about that one-on-one, you vs the monster stuff, and the rampages take you out of that and are boring to boot. Really really good breakdown!
Soooo much fucking anxiety 🤮🤮🤮🤮 you've described it so well lol. The combination of clunkiness, bad UI, tight-ish timing, inconsistent NPCs and waaay too much happening at the same time was so anxiety inducing. And once realised most of the mechanics are arbitrary to your survival, it just feels dumb
@@maxmustermann3938 In multiplayer, for me at least, it just feels like a grindy, super scripted event that can only go a very specific way. Doesn't feel like a proper fight imo
Ive always said that if Capcom would just crank up the over the top style of Rise and design the Rampage like its a Dynasty Warrior scenario and your default weapon damage is that of the Counter Signal's effect, that wouldve made it the best thing ever because: 1. It'd be an experience thats unique to Rise and by extension, mowing down a large monster in mere seconds would be an experience thats unique to the Rampage. So theres an extra incentive to play it. 2. It really wouldnt be all that fundamentally different from using the turrets to repel large monsters because 7-9 seconds is how long it'd take to acheive that anyway. It'd be more hands on and much more satisfying to just go ham on the monster hordes and enjoy the guilty pleasure of feeling unstoppable in a Monster Hunter Game.
lots of people enjoy rampage quests. It's just that there's even more salty world fans who will criticize any MH game that isn't 50% cutscene and on a sony console.
Thats the B team for ya,lol. I did like rampages cuz I kinda min maxed my crafting and turret placements. and was REALLY hoping it was gonna get improved in sunbreak into proper siege events for OG siege monsters. I think for me it was just about making it an effeciant enough funnel. ((and speed shovveling as much coal as humanly possible to drop a nuke on em)) course rampages showed one of Rise's BIGGEST issue imo...the jank ass hitboxes when you are on walls...it sometimes happens in normal hunts too. but GAWD do I hate taking full damage when you are on the wall and then keep getting stun locked into the corner, even when you are wired bugged WAY above his hitbox or the wall ~.~
yeah they should have instead added a bunch of pointless melodramatic cutscenes, the worst siege battle in the series, and also the worst fights in the series like kushala in the ancient forest. That definitely would make for a good monster hunter game and not the worst slop in the series. The "B" team, indeed.
Rampages are at their most fun in multiplayer, at least with friends. With randoms online I could see it being frustrating lol. But honestly rampages are enough of a mess that everyone comes together to end them as fast as possible imo
Gem drop rates are horrendous. Five percent or LESS is not an appropriate drop rate for something you use in nearly every, if not all weapon upgrades AT some point in the weapons line. Wtaf
Kulve was probably my favorite hunt in world so the rng related to the weapons didn’t bother me too bad. I had multiple godly versions of all the weapons because i loved doing that fight so much.
I did all that stuff just for the weapons to not get carried into MR. That's my only real complaint about it besides apexes being locked behind it instead of simply gaining Hunter rank.
Before The Video: Birbs... After the Video: Still birbs 😂. I might be the minority but i like rampage concept. They could keep it and have it as a side thing. Maybe one main. But i did like it. Felt intense.
When I saw online that apex's didn't get armor / (cool) weapon I just skipped them, like you said if there is no reward what's the point ? Yes as a player I like challenges but I'd like to be rewarded for that I mean it's litteraly how MH work in general. Fight a monster -> can craft cool armor/weapon from it. This was one of my biggest letdown by Rise
Rampages were really annoying at first, especially since Targeters exist purely to lock you down forever, but before moving onto Sunbreak, I did enough to fully Augment every Weapon in base game and it became somewhat fun.
This video should be renamed "why apex monsters suck". Were rampages a bad thing? Yeah, possibly. Consider that MH is designed as a multiplayer game, if you play alone that's your choice. And for once I'd rather farm the rampages in sumbreak after some improvements than kill fatalis 420 times to get some decorations. I won't miss them, but the idea was cool.
rampages i feel are a testament to how fun rise is that im willing to tolerate them to progress the story and play through the game, even though theyre the most brainless quests imaginable i still highly rate rise and id be surprised if i wound up enjoying wilds more than it
The Kulve fight itself is really fun, but having to go through the first phase where you chase her around is god awful, and the weapon rng is absolutely disgusting, I must have done the siege AND the MR quest hundreds of times and I still haven't seen a paralysis kjarr SnS drop that I've been wanting forever, her whole system was terrible and you're not alone in thinking that
Being honest i like the idea of rampage i hate the execution. For one dont think the ai for the auto towers are very good. The damage the towers do i don't think is enough, if ive built up a decent defense i shouldnt need to be working as hard as i do, but like with everything else in momster hunter it was clunky. So theres was the weird fight movement transition build tower dynamic that just was exhausting and with the health of the apex, it becomes a slugfest by the end.
nah man i give no quarter for this mode. it is the most useless, dogshit mode that MH has ever introduced. i cannot believe they even entertained the idea of making a monster defender mode but by god, they did it and it is HORRIBLE. *HORRIBLE*
rampages were fun the first few times, which is far more than can be said for zorah magdaros, 90% of world, and 70% of iceborne. i would literally rather shovel coal into the furnace over and over rather than fight world's kushala daora ever again.

Not a lotta love for Maggy Z that’s for sure, saving grace was using the dragonator

They're fun online. My only issue is that trigger happy guy who misses with the splitting wyvern shot.
Despite how 'eh' Rampages are, I'd prefer them back then boring 20+ min Sieges of hacking a big chunk of monster (looking at you Lao and Zorah)
