Kruger is PARADISE!!!!! I miss Kruger so much!!! See you again very soon!!! Villiers BAIE BAIE DANKIE vir jou videos. Jy vat my saam vakansie elke keer!!!
Driving from Orpen to Pretoriuskop this weekend. Hope we get some good predator sightings along the way. Had some great success in the past in the Orpen gate area. Looking forward to your camp review!
I so enjoyed your virtual safari down to Pretoriaskop and the last minute leopard at the end of the safari near to Pretoriaskop. Looking forward to watching your video on Pretoriaskop when it comes out.
Hi Villiers. We absolutely love your videos. Currently based in Dubai, but Heading to Kruger from 10-24 July. Staying in Orpen (5 nights), Olifants (2 nights), Satara (2 nights) and Skukuza (5 nights). We recently purchased a copy of the book Kruger Self-drive, Routes, Roads and Ratings. Thank you for all the information on your channel.
Thank you so much for your videos! They were instrumental in planning my first trip to Kruger (and SA - just got back) - and the Kruger Self-Drive book was very helpful when wandering about. I must say that our two nights in Berg-en-Dal were by far the best: two separate lion sightings (including a pair of males walking right past us on a night drive,) leopard, and limitless elephant and giraffe, among many others.
Love these videos. Great Leopard sighting, did you see some birds of prey in that drive? they really disappeared in the last two-three years. Looking forward to your next video.
Thank you so much for sharing your expertise. I also enjoyed one of your photography videos. We are planning a family trip (ages 20-60) to Africa next July. What countries do you recommend that I should research for this time of year? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
My pleasure, Bregman. Why don’t you send me an email on info@thesafariexpert.co.za with a bit more info on your trip (number of people / ideal duration / animals you’d love to see / approximate budget or at least type of accommodation) and I’ll get back to you 🙂
Absolutely loce your videos, very informative! Also got your book, just waiting for it to arrive. One question for you, we are doing 2 nights in kruger, starting through orpen gate and will be heading towards skukuza for overnight and than back to satara. What routes would you reccomend we take? was thinking of heading from skukuza to lower sabie first thing in AM and than back up to satara to reach the camp before gates close. Any info highly appreciated Thank you
Glad you enjoy them 😊 Maybe drive down to Skukuza on the S36 on the first day. Your idea to drive via Lower Sabie on day two can work, but give yourself lots of time - it could take most of the day. Nice route, though 👍🏻
Hello! Been watching a lot of your videos and really enjoy them. I am planning an vacation in and around the Kruger Park soon. I took your advice from another video and got the Kruger Self-Drive book from van den berg. I have not been to Kruger myself, but when I was looking at routes and looking for distances. I feel like a lot of the routes km distance is off.
For example, the Orpen Gate route says it's 117km if you also switch from H7 and drive the S106. But when you look at the road it says that H7 is 48km from the gate to Sahara camp. If you double that and add S106 which is 14km. That is 110km. So is the distance 110km or 117km? Because a few kilometers can make quite the difference in planning. And I have noticed a few other routes where the distance seems of. I know you didn't write the book, but since you are very familiar with Kruger I was thinking that you might have an idea what's up ☺️
Hi Villiers. Very much off topic, but please help. We are going to Kruger for my 40th birthday next weekend. We usually go in winter so this is new to us. I have booked us a sunset drive, does it still get cold this time of year on the back of a bakkie. I don't really want to pack too many jackets, etc.:-)
Probably not, Gerhard. The Lowveld is stinking hot at the moment. But take ar least one small extra layer with for in case there’s a storm that comes in - then temperatures can definitely drop a bit.
How long did it take u to drive from Orpen to Pretoriuskop... i am planning on driving from Orpen to Crocodile camp , rest there for 2 nights. But i see here on the KNP distances between gates is estimated @ 7hours drive. I fear i might not make it before they close camp for check in. Say i enter Opern at 06 am, plus some stops taking breaks, restrooms, and all so i dont know if is doable
Watch out for those midges in Scotland if you are in the Highlands they are a nightmare. Scotland, particularly the Highlands is beautiful but no wildlife like Kruger though…lol
The Kruger is magic
I almost clicked off to early and would have missed the Leopard at the end.

Thanks Noam. No, I didn’t on that drive, but since then I have seen martial eagle and brown snake eagle 😁
The S36 to Muzandzeni = Best Cheetah road in Kruger IF done Early at sunrise or before

Orpen to Crocodile Bridge is doable, but it’ll be a long day’s drive 👍🏻
@@TheSafariExpert thank you.
Are you perhaps heading to kruger in July by any chance Villiers?
Hi Christoff. No, I'll be in Scotland in July, believe it or not...
Watch out for those midges in Scotland if you are in the Highlands they are a nightmare. Scotland, particularly the Highlands is beautiful but no wildlife like Kruger though…lol
@TheSafariExpert sounds amazing, was hoping we could wave past you this winter in the kriger😂
