Nate and Steph are a couple of crazy adventurers who decided that life was too short to spend their time and money accumulating "stuff." So, they set out in an RV in January 2016 to travel North America and replace their stuff with experiences. In March 2017, they sold their RV and bought a Sprinter Van, which they built out into a campervan to continue their travels and adventures in #vanlife style.
Both originally from the small town of Blanchard, Oklahoma, Nate and Steph enjoy learning about new cultures and experiencing different ways of life across the world. They like to meet new people from all walks of life and just sit and have a beer with whoever shows up. It's all about spontaneity in this life!
They travel with their two pups, Pyros and Sparta, who have become great travelers and adventure pups as well.

Thanks you guys! I’m about to try plasti dip on my current van build and was curious about it holding up under rough conditions! Thank you for the updates and van inspiration! 😁
Thank you for the one year follow up. Loved the Q&A at the end. It was very informative and you guys are like a comedy team. 😎
I *like* the look of the van after the plasti dip. Good, "outdoorsy" color, and the semi-matte finish adds to that. Two thumbs up as far as I'm concerned.
Y'all did an awesome job Plasti-Dipping your rig in the first place. It's held up exceedingly well and this guy wouldn't change a thing!
Well done... as always.

Great review. You guys are fun. I'm going to be doing it to my van eventually.
The Q&A was enough to make me subscribe. Thanks for that.
Hard to believe people would actually ask some of those questions!
Same here!
Van looks great, love your sense of humour. 🇬🇧👍👍
Looks like it continues to do well. Seems like a great idea to me!
It def answered the major question I had and that was how did it hold up...! From what you showed I’d say very well indeed. Thanks for the vid guys 👍
Nice! I got an old truck with peeling paint that I might plasti-dip. You've inspired me.
There are clear vinyl strips designed specifically for high use areas that could possible help on the door edges and such. I use it on my bikes to prevent cable rub against the carbon fiber.
It looks really great. You did a really good job
A great review for someone considering it. Thanks!
Loved the colors at the end very rad!!!
Looks great, considering the miles! Maybe make a little thin rubber flap that attaches around the fuel filler neck, then drops down like a bib for when you fuel. Love the vids!
Hi very much enjoying your videos, as in a couple of years I'm going to build my own and retire to my adventures, thank you again from 60 year old Co native, best regards to you both Rand
It has held up better than my Maaco paint job.
Love the van!!!!
Excellent job
Awesome! Great color btw. Thanks for all the information :)
Thanks good review of product. Didn't know you could do it yourself.
It looks awesome !!!
Great update. I'd hate to return my rental car and Steph had a give it the once over. You have a ding here, here, here and there. LOL
Story of my life. -Nate. lol
Good info on the update, thanks!
omg the q&a was amazing!!
You did this video a nice funny way.
Thank you for sharing your experience.
You should pop the bubble and let the moisture out so it won't rust your van. I had the same thing happen to the B-pillar on a truck and left it alone thinking the paint would protect it but it rusted at the seam where it was stamped and had no paint.
Very informative and very entertaining.
Is that your red van outside? Lol. Great video & thanks for the 1yr update. It still looks great & probably has many many more adventures before you have to consider doing it again.
Looks nice - are you going to touch it up and do you plan to strip it off at some point ? For the weather you've been through, looks like it helds up very well. How many coats was it originally ?
Overall that looks great. Great job.
Hi, great vid, cheers 👍👍👍. Is it possible to touch up the plastids? If so what is involved?
We haven't messed around with it; but I THINK it's possible. There are tutorials for that on the Plastidip website. There's a link to their website in the video description
Looks great after 1 year. I'm sure the insulation question is from the plasti dip web site that talks about insulating values of dipping tools. The cost does justify your choice. My class A RV cost to paint is ~20-25K. Wrap is 12K. Just might think about plasti dip.... But it would be a lot a paint !
So helpful
Ive heard people comment on Lino spray as a big fire hazard, or rather more hazardous to put out if ever in that flammable situation.. idk just stuck with me. I would LOVE to do this over my glaring bright white FT. Can believe you covered up that grey! yes it looks good just the grey is highly coveted by us stuck with blinding white.. thanks for the review!
can you add another coat to touch it up? I did the front of my nv2oo over a year ago and I have a couple of dings.
I'm not sure on that one. Sorry! We haven't tried that yet.
Nate, I own a Cirrus Camper also, I do have solar on it already, factory install. not a great system, do you have a list of the equipment you used. I would also like to know how you went about installing the monitor on the panel on the side of Fridge and over the stove. My little 200w system has no monitor except Bluetooth. The controller is actually under the step where the distribution block is installed. What solar panels did you use? Thanks in advance for any info.
Hey David! I'm guessing you saw the actual build tutorial since you are referring to where the monitor is placed. Did you download the free ebook? If not, it can be found here: goo.gl/JhALV8 and the parts list can be found here: goo.gl/jq7Fiu I think most of your questions (and many more) can be found in those resources. If you've still got questions, check back in and let me know!
Overall pretty impressive for plasti dip!! I wonder how good it would hold up on my rig with all the trees pinstriping it.
Yeah, ultimately, I think it depends on how big the branches are, but we are brushing on smaller stuff frequently. Actual sticks? Probably wouldn't fare so well...
Not that bad. I've Plasti dipped my Syncro wheel's and driving it in pretty unfriendly environment, often. Plasti Dip offer you a product that you can apply over, as an transparent protection layer and they actually refer to branches. Expensive though, at least in Europe.
So will you be able to touch up the spots? I love the way this looks?
We aren't going to mess with them unless they get worse.
Lol, love the speed round!
Again, love your videos. Some of these questions seemed a bit odd but I'm sure you get that a lot. I have a question though, when you were spraying it did you notice the overspray sticking on anything surrounding the van, i.e. the house, the driveway etc.
By the time it got to the concrete, it was pretty much dried and would sweep away like dust. Your mileage may vary though.
You answered the insulation question(which seems a little silly), but being that glossy white paint reflects sunlight and ultimately keeps your van cooler, does the plastidip retain more heat? As a van dweller myself(with a factory tan-ish paint job) I don’t think I would want to do anything to my van that would make it even more difficult to stay cool on a summer day.
The difference between black vs white exteriors are only about 8 degrees so trying to overcomplicate the decision on account of 2-3 degrees wasn't worth it to us. We just did what we wanted. lol
Hi i've just started watching your channel love the colour and do you have a code or name for the colour cheers Andy from Australia
Check the video description, the links to the specific products/colors are listed there.
Does it reduce the road sound?
Question, why not use a Bedliner like Monstaliner? Similar price but more durable. Kits include spray guns or you can roll it on, it’s also UV resistant and choose your color or have it mixed to a custom color. I would love to hear your thoughts. BTW love your channel
I see the biggest con being if you screwed it up, you're kind of still stuck with it. It doesn't peel off like a vinyl wrap. Either way, we had never heard of Monstaliner when we were doing this project. We'd consider it for the next time around for sure though!
Very impressive for lack of rock chip damage, mainly to the front. After watching your video on painting your van I got to wondering about using Plastic Dip on the inside areas where bare metal will be showing (around back windows/door, side door, etc.). I thought about carpet but don't like the idea of it getting and staying wet from rain and snow. Do you think the Plastic Dip on the inside bare metal would help any with temperature and condensation, I spend a lot of time in the mountains? Vinyl upholstery materiel was my other thought but finding it hard to apply and look good.
Plasti dip is essentially just like vinyl wrap. It doesn't have any thermal or condensation fighting properties. I wouldn't install it where weather stripping will rub as I feel it's not durable enough for that particular purpose.
How "forgiving" is the plasti-dip? I have a van I'm converting and the paint on it now is peeling. Is the plasti-dip "thick" enough to cover up the peels (blemishes)? Love the channel!
I would say, no. If it's peeling, I think it'd have a hard time.
Do you have any idea of the MPG before and after? Thanks
Nope. No clue
You guys took I-44 through southwest MO!
Where did you get the lower side molding for your van?
It came like that from the factory.
Love your channel, I thought the van looks great after a year. How many miles have you guys driven in a year? Keep up the great work.
20k someting. Thanks so much for watching!
Is that your purple van out there?
like this, hug from from Wales ( the country to the left of England, UK)
Nice review. Do you think the plasti dip would be a good choice for a camper trailer frame, or would the line-x be more durable?
It's essentially a spray on vinyl wrap, so no... I don't think it would be good for a frame.
It does kinda look “greenish” with the film tint...... oh wait, ain’t you all got a logo sticker on the rear?!?! Thanks for sharing. Looks like plastidip will be what I do on the ol’ jeep!
Does it fade?
HaHa ...perfect Aggie logic answering the paint weight question ......watching from Magnolia TX💕
Awesome brown van guys ;)
Do you still have this dip on? I would love to know if it lasts more than 2 years. Thanks and love your videos!!
Yep! It's still on and looks about the same as it did in this video.
Did y’all use the plasti dip primer or did you just plasti dip straight to the metal?
We did not use the primer.
Love "Speed round" lol 😂
Do you really have no windows in this van ? And how does that work for you ?
hahaa mint ye both look good for all your adventures well done!
I have been waiting the whole year for this video... I was wondering about the Plasti Dip I'd watch the video of somebody Rhino Lining their van and I thought wow that's quite pricey yep I think Plasti Dip is the way to go... My only question can you get it in any color you want to?
For sure! Yeah, There are a LOT of colors to pick from.
How many miles have done in the last year?
20 something thousand.
Did you plasti dip it yourself if so do you have a video
Yeah. Check the video description for the link.
What size tires are you running?
265/70/16
Still looks good, i live in WI so with salt an that, after research gonna go rapture to deal with climate better
Worth noting, we dealt with lots of salt this past winter. In case you missed it: ruclips.net/video/-y6rTEgBfZM/видео.html
Ya'll just passed my house and didn't stop by! I am so offended! (Outside of Woodstock, Ontario)
I mean it didn't really get out the real question when someone asked about "insulation" what the real question is... when the sun is radiating on a side of the van, does the dip reduce (or rather how much as a %) the heat conductivity? This is how a van can hit 125 degrees in a 100 degree day in the sun in a normal van.
My bet is it does reduce it quite a large margin because light mostly cannot pass through it but of course testing would be needed.
I don't know. We didn't test that. I suspect it doesn't do much for that.
Is that your red van out there? LOL!
Wipe off those places with alcohol it will clean it and it will ad hear better, make sure to dry it well before reapplying!
if cost is an issue how come you’ve spent a fortune on an aluminess roof rack and storage boxes ?
We had a set budget. Roof racks & bumpers were in the budget. A $7000 paint job was not in the budget. A $700 dip job was in the budget.
The weight is way off. Dipyourcar channel weighed his plasti dip for a car and it was like 1.5 lbs, so double or triple a car amount and max is like 5 lbs
"It´s that your white van right there?" LMAO
You didn’t mention how the plasti-dip was holding up on your sunglasses! 😎
Hey, great videos by the way. Inspiration encompassed!
What is the purpose of doing plasti dip?
Do you know how I know you didn't watch the whole video?
I did watch the whole video & I watched the whole video of you doing the plasti dip.
Check here: ruclips.net/video/r70i3wwnlN0/видео.htmlm17s
ok I thought it might be for more than appearance & that a nicer color was a bonus. Thought I was missing something but wasnt lo :) Love the idea of doing this for a color change
Looks stealthy in your neighborhood
Lol! Is that your plaid van out there?!?
Winner!!
For real RUclips science, I'm going to need ya'll to strip off the plasti dip from the left side of the van and come back in a year to compare wear on the paint side v. dipped side. gig 'em.
Haha! You KNOW we are down for youtube science. lol W11oop!
If you decide to redo it yourself,,, Look at Durabak 18,,,,It is a DIY bedliner,,,Safe Travels
Oh God if I have to hear you refer to a chip as a ding one more time I'm probably going to scream.
Apologies. There were just lots of dings in the plastidip, that's all.
@@EXPLORISTlife AGHHHHH!!!!!! CHIPS ! DAMNIT! CHIPS WOMAN! CHIPS! tee hee lol
No thanks. I'm trying to get in better shape for ski season coming up. I'll have to politely decline the chips. -Nate
The weight question isn't crazy, van payloads aren't infinite. Adding 80 lbs isn't totally insignificant. It's also not critical I suppose... but a lot of builders don't even think about weight, they just cart in gazillions of pounds of wood planks, 2x4s and steel and heavy insulation and rock on without a clue. Exceeding the GVWR is an issue in several ways, including legal. Just sayin'.
Oh, and as for the color itself, I like it, especially for an adventure van. If you park a white van in nature somewhere, it stands out enormously and is frankly something of an eyesore. A muted color like this, or maybe something in an olive green, would be far less jarring in a natural setting. There's no such thing as stealth in cities anyway, if a van is parked where it's not supposed to be you get the knock anyway. And then the tow, if you don't answer the knock.
question 12.... GIGEM!!!!!!!!!
W11OOP!
This is driving me nuts, those aren't dings, they are chips.
People from the UK would probably call them crisps.
KFStreich it depends on where you are in the country. We called them dings in Indiana
Official van colour schemes. White = vegan. Black = Vegetarian. Tan = Meat and beer lovers??
Have a good week.
Lol. Gotta match the van color to the food choice of the week? lol
Yo answer one of the q and a questions... Plasti Dip IS an insulator.
