Thanks man, not a Linux user but Reaper user and i enjoyed watching your video. Think it can be very positive input to all Linux users that want a proper DAW to work. been waiting for more than 20 years to have Linux on the Audio side prepared for work. Seems a good start.
Thanks man. Yeah, my main machine still runs Windows, but it's nice to see some development progress being made on Linux. Depending on people's use case. it might suit their needs. All the U-He plugins are available for Linux, but it seems people are still running Kontakt via Wine for a decent sampler.
Thanks for the demo, man. My friend is an audio engineer and just convinced me to move over to this from Audacity. I'm on Ubuntu. Seamless install process ... and good to see that there's an awful lot that I do and learn with it!
Jump to 14:26 to see how I installed everything. I forgot to mention, I had to point REAPER to the folder where APT had installed my VSTs. I used Ardour to help me - in Ardour's preferences it listed a whole bunch of possible VST locations. I looked in each location using the file manager until i found my VSTs, then copied that file location to Reaper's preferences. I just discovered a cool slicer, and apparently they're designing a sampler as well! linuxmusicians.com/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=20227&sid=2fc888e929ea639360022de29269701a&fbclid=IwAR39f2-eJ3mxEm3RpRD4ZSTeJFRFqDC1PcZIPHHN7K2EfAUuAixOuIodWb0
This is awesome, this + carla for loading VSTs, I am thinking about trying this on an old laptop. Last time I tried to use linux for music production, I tried to use ubuntu studio and was a bit of a disaster. Thats awesome !
Thanks for the video , i am using reaper 6.23 on linuxlite 4.8 generic-kernel ,cadence , winehq-staging with linvst convert for my winvst's and its perfect. The only thing not working is the drag 'n drop of some winvst plugins.Reaper says 5.3/10ms latency.
Have you considered trying the latest version of Ubuntu Studio??? If you could do a video about it that'd be great! Awesome video about Reaper on Linux!
Sounds great! So Jack audio is compulsory. For those looking for a very good piano sound, a pianoteq license (moddart) is valid for linux and windows. Is Reaper license valid for both linux and windows? (Answered further down, thank you). I'll buy the personal license for Windows.
On Windows and Mac, some MIDI keyboards need drivers to work, and others are plug and play. The plug and play ones tend to work on Linux. It might be that the Ozone needs a driver. See if this helps. The second post talks about how to adapt the instructions to a more recent version of Ubuntu. geekrockusa.blogspot.com/2010/01/installing-m-audio-ozone-on-64-studio.html
I had to use a2jmidid and send that data to JACK and then Reaper. You need that for ALSA to JACK midi bridging Edit: Commented that midway through the video, before you explained a2jmidid. My bad!
You don't need a license. There are no limitations on using Reaper without a license. It's fully functional and nothing happens after 60 days. Buy it when you can.

I've seen some impressive work done in Ardour recently though, so Linux users already have a proper DAW to begin with.

hey there, how would you compare ardour and reaper. What one do you prefer, for what reasons.

Thanks for showing it on Lye-nux.

Another thing is Reaper ignore the primary monitor screen
What kind of latency are you getting and are you using an interface?

from kxstudio repositories , yes , the license is the same.
Hi) How did you manage to get the midi keyboard working in Linux Mint? Myself I couldn't, I have been trying doing that with my M-Audio Ozone.
