Mike Laine's HO Scale layout is in a 5x14' space, but he has packed a lot of layout into this room, including a rendition of Virginia City that boasts about 40 scratch-built and kitbashed structures.

That was terrific! The bus line LTR ran the scheduled service after they bought the route from the V&T. The V&T ran bus service during its declining years.
I bid the route and ran it for 5 years in the 70’s. We did not use Geiger Grade, we went up the back way through Carson City, Silver City, & Gold Hill. Eventually using the truck route, when the bus was a 47 passenger unit. The stop in Virginia City was the Delta Saloon, and I was there for 45 minutes. Parked next to the Bucket of Blood, and the horse drawn hearse. Many people don’t know that Roos Atkins had a store on C street, and sold Levi’s. 100 years later, you could still read the name on the building.

Good to see that Mike is still hanging in there. Mike and I were both in Salt Lake at the same time and were involved in NMRA.

Always enjoy any mining related layouts above others in particular, and your Virginia City layout is awesome Mike thanks!

Enjoyed Mike's layout very much. Glad to see more small-to-midsized layouts featured. A lot of these are unsung heroes.

Amazing layout. I used to live in Carson City and I've been up to VC many times. I was fortunate enough to manage the Gold Hill to American Flat project for NDOT that rebuilt the line over the Overman pit. Those scenes are instantly recognizable. Takes me back.

Beautiful layout. Nice history included. The burnt down building directly beside the firehouse is humorous. I live in Gold Hill in NC. One of the first places in the United States that gold was discovered.

Thanks for that John, there isn't much V&T out there, that was a veritable Gold mine, forgive the pun.
