I grew up in Davis CA starting in the 6th grade 1971 and after graduating from Davis Sr. High 1977 went to Sacramento State University. In the 1980's I transferred out of state to finish college in Bloomington Indiana and have only been back to visit a few times and been stranded on the east coast past 3 decades but I sure did enjoy watching this video. Since I lived in north Davis, I mostly watched trains run up the west valley line including beet trains, Amtrak, and freight trains, even the Daylight GS4 traveled up that line - but I've read it was cut off up north and is no longer a thru line up to Oregon. I saw my first tunnel motors while driving across the causeway into west Sacramento. Of course I have some models of them now. I'm still an SP/WP fan and even had a college roommate who came from a WP railroading family - the Walls. I actually got to visit the old club in downtown Sacramento in the late 70's and while in Sacramento visited your club when it was in it's early days. Looking great! If I get back out there, I'd enjoy dropping by. Currently I'm working on a late 70's D&RGW layout in my basement (what are those?) in northern Virginia - a fish out of water.
What a great layout. Thank you for sharing. Too bad you guys are so far away. I’d love to visit unfortunately I live in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. 🤓
Growing up on 50th Street near the Elvas Towe and the Valley Line during the Steam era I found this fascinating. Glad my oldest son is now active in your "club" A nice video that really captured the route, the nice scenery work, and the operation of the CTC machine. Great job.
Highball the roll-by SMRHS! I enjoyed my visit to y'all back in 2010 and hope to come back someday in the near future! Great scenes from the Bay Area and the Sacramento Valley!
Our HO layout is still under construction, but feel free to visit the Roseville Roundhouse Model Railroad Association if your ever in the Sacramento area again.
Wow, the layout has changed in the last 20 years! Dallas Berry and I used to work together, and he was a great guy. Edit. Thanks for TSG presenting this.
Great video, but I was hoping for the W.P. modeled to Stockton. I grew up on the W.P. since my Grand Father (Joe Blackmore) was a "hog head" (engineer) and I spent many days on his switch engine at the Stockton yard in the late fifties and early sixties. I also got a few rides up to Oroville while home on leave from the Army. Thanks for bringing back some good memories! It's been quite a while since I've been back to California.

It has been a while since I have been to the society to hang out and run trains. The progress on the layout looks great.

I like it !
Excellent presentation ! 17:48
Wonderful layout and tour, thank you!
Can you share what camera system you are using for your hidden yard?
exquisite
Love the lay out, but I believe the TSG logo in the lower right corner needs to be bigger🤨
Would you be interested in letting people operate a locomotive on your layout, remotely? A great opportunity to generate revenue.
