I was in my first year of college when this came out, and I remember the video coming on the TV in the student center and stopping everyone in their tracks. Everyone stopped to listen to Chris sing. Such a loss.
When this came out, I was mad that RATM broke up and I was (I thought) passed my grunge phase. I systematically ignored and didn't give a chance to Audioslave. I was 20 and was rebelling against my teen self.. stupid I know, but it is what it is. It took me until I was 35, ten years ago, to revisit Audioslave. I was so completely wrong back in the day.. especially this song. Live and learn!😂
Chris Cornell the lead singer was so iconic. His voice was so genuine. Another song that is a must is “Fell on Black Days” from Soundgarden which has a much younger Chris Cornell, and it is a song about depression. The music video is the best way to experience that song for the first time. RIP Chris.
The book he was reading was a Gideon Bible in a hotel room. Used to be common to find one in the drawer of motel/ hotel rooms. Gideon International started distributing bibles to hotels/motels in 1908.
Chris Cornell was a troubled soul who fought depression all his life, finally taking his own life. It seems that people with a lot of talent have severe emotional problems that drive their art. R.I.P.
This song is so sad to me because I can't help but think what was going through his mind in 2017 when the singer took his own life. So tragic, he was so talented.
This was my introduction to Audioslave ….just a few years back…. In my 70’s. I was completely won over by the stellar vocals and the incredible melodic line and his feel for the lyrics. Top tier.
I was always so enamored with Chris Cornell's voice. It ran the gamut from grit to bliss. Soundgarden was mostly heavier than this. I hope you'll get to some of those ones too. My favorites are "Rusty Cage" and "Jesus Christ Pose". I was a huge Soundgarden fan. I saw them in concert 4 times! They gave good concert. 🙂 Thanks to whoever's been requesting these. R.I.P.
🎶🎶🎶🎶 ...... I was 100% certain that you would find your way to this one Saeed. This band was created with members of other great bands. I will let your other followers fill you in on the details. Safe to say that every member is stellar at their craft. The singer , Chris Cornell , started his rise to fame with the band Soundgarden. I have been infatuated with Chris's voice since the first note. I will recommend the song "Black Hole Sun" for you to learn about. Chris rates among the absolute best of Rock singers. This song here definitely will make you think. No surprise to me that it has so many views. What a heartbreak to hear about his passing. We have lost so so so many great musicians over the years. The battle with depression is just so complicated. I truly wish that he could have made more music for many years. He makes singing look easy , and it is not easy. Now I have to go find a song to cheer me up because this one hits harder than most. Thank you Saeed. 🎼🎼🔥🎼🎼🔥🎼🎼🔥🎼🎼🔥🎼🎼🔥🎼🎼
After watching this, i started thinking about Chris Cornell. And my mind meandered to his project with Eddie Veder, "Temple of the Dog". Which led me to their video for "Hunger Strike". I'd forgotten how much I loved it, all those years ago. Anyone who likes Chriss Cornell should check it out. He's ferocious! Temple of the Dog - "Hunger Strike"
This 75 year old grandma stills has her Temple of the Dog and AudioSlave CDs! My sons who are 41 & 45 were my 90s muses, AudioSlave actually came out in 2001(?).
Chris never wanted to be the singer. He was a guitarist. But it came so effortlessly and he was so good. He passed away not long after recording this song. R.I.P. Chris Cornell.
You should try listening to Chris do covers of Nothing Compares 2 You and Billie Jean. His cover of Billie Jean blew my mind and really changed the song's meaning for me.
So glad I was able to attend a few of his solo shows. Just pure talent and emotion. Similar to the feeing of early Tori Amos shows I went to - where it feel like the audience is holding its collective breath as to not make a sound and break the spell. The deaths of many artists have had some effect on me, but the loss of Chris Cornell hurts the most for me.
Chris, as a person, and vocalist, was such a gift to so many (I know that sounds cheesy). Whether he was on stage, with his family, doing acoustic sets, or being with his family, he was just a through and through genuine man. I don’t think I’ve ever seen any footage or what not of him being something he wasn’t. I don’t know if you have seen him and Chester do “hunger strike” & “Crawling” as well, but its such meaningful moment of them bc when Chris would come one during the LP set, he would speak or shake hands with each member of the band before singing his part with Chester and show them a ton of respect, and Chester, in turn, would do the same. You could see how close they were-and how much Chris meant to Chester and how much his death affected him. It was only a couple months after the loss of Chris, that on Chris’s Birthday (July 20) is the day we lost Chester. If i remember correctly, I believe Chester and his wife were the Godparents of Chris’ 2 children, and his daughter has recorded some of her dad’s songs that are so good!
Check out Cochise, by Audioslave. They were a great band. Chris Cornell was one of a kind. Check out temple of the dog hunger strike. There is an official video.
One of the most incredible singer and composer in the world, a terrible lost to the world... Here we understand how trauma is a wound that needs to be visible and healed, otherwise...
I've been listening to your videos a lot. You have touched on a lot of great songs, and there are many, many more to go. Keep exploring. You will find a lot more of them. The 70's and 90's are really great.
Chris Cornell collaborated with several different bands, but he was the VOICE recognized throughout all the bands he ever sang with. He was such a huge talent and gone way too soon. Chris Cornell is definitely worth exploring! Rest In Peace, Chris; you are sorely missed. Thanks for another great reaction, Saeed! ✌💙✌
Looking forward to more of his music. I just recorded a reaction to Hunger Strike, by Temple of The Dog. Hope i can get that one up soon. Thanks for watching.
@@SaeedReacts. - Oh "Hunger Strike" is an excellent choice! "Hunger Strike" was written by Chris Cornell and features a duet between Cornell and vocalist Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam! Cornell was having trouble with the vocals at practice, when Vedder stepped in. Two amazing vocalists in one song! This is an Epic song! ✌💙✌
My son’s ideal, Chris. He was singing this song when the news came through that he had died. So sad. My son learned how to sing copying this iconic man. Marcus Metz, Like a Stone. My son and I no longer speak so this song is sad on a few levels. 😢
My first time hearing. As it started; the instruments are great!! The vocals are GREAT. Yes this is right up your alley. O how I love to be part of the Saeed-community. How would you interpret " I'll wait for you like a stone"?. TX Saeed. Greetings from South Africa
Chris Cornell has always been my favorite male musician/artist...since I could form a real opinion lol Maybe 12 yrs old early 90s. Saw Audioslave on Halloween in New York City one year, life time memories ❤ His passing on my birthday has changed that day for me forever
I've heard this song well over 1k times and it hits the same every single time and then Chris died and now it hits different. He's reunited with Layne now, no more waiting.

Actually, there's a video that's also a live version (a rehearsal), for the other band where Chris was also a singer, lyricist and songwriter, that looks and sounds great. The video is, I think (may be wrong) made of several takes of that rehearsal, and the audio is one of the takes. Check out the video for Soundgarden's Fell on Black Days. And yes, he did sang Crawing with Linkin Park live a few times.
Hard to believe but 10 years ago I did die ! I died during neurosurgery , well when they were reversing anesthesia. I was under anesthesia for 32 hours start to finish no stopping , do to a brain tumor that was between 6-8cm in diameter. The tumor size caused my body to form an adaptation , where my body built hundreds of capillary blood vessels to restore proper blood flow to my brain. The tumor was essentially feeding off of my blood flow. Crazy thing is I spoke to god the night before my surgery and asked not to be saved . That if my lungs fail to draw breath so be it , my final judgement is the judgement I deserve. It gets more abnormal than this , I spoke with 3 close friends of mine who had passed away several years before my surgery! I walked up to my friend Andrew and said hey guys , it looks like I’ll be joining you all shortly ! Spoke with my friends for what felt like hours . Next thing I know my eyes open up while I’m still on the operating table , and I hear several people yelling my name “ oh my god I can’t believe we got Chris back , thank god we got home back “ !
his ''''''ending" is questionable, even his wife doesnt believe it. look into it and you'll find he was investigating some stuff that ... well, that some wouldnt want him to be.

Eddy Vedder was a good friend of Chris and was devastated when Chris left this world. Eddy did a tribute at a live concert and it was heart stopping.

Tom Morello! 🎸 #RATM
