You’ve discovered a voice many consider one of the greatest in rock, the late, great Chris Cornell. I am a massive fan of his singing, and this song is just the tip of the iceberg of what he was vocally capable of. And Audioslave rocked.
This song is very haunting to listen to after his death. It's essentially about him waiting for death and Chris Cornell was known to suffer from depression, so to know years ago that he wrote a song like this about waiting for death to come and take him leaves me with a very sad feeling. The song is beautiful, but it takes on even more weight after his tragic passing. RIP Chris Cornell...such a legendary voice.
Hey Maddy, from Albuquerque NM, USA. Audio Slava is considered a super group. After Chris Cornell left Soundgarden, and the singer for Rage Against the Machine left, Chris took up the vocals and they renamed the band. Tom Morello, in my opinion, will be the next legendary of this generation. He also did all the guitar parts for the video game Guitar Hero.
Audioslave is a super group comprising the late great Chris Cornell from Soundgarden (Seattle early grunge band) and the band Rage Against the Machine (minus the singer). Both original bands are awesome and Chris had some, amazing solo pieces. Enjoy.
Chris + RATM = Amazing. I saw Chris Cornell in concert as a solo artist. He and his tour band performed Soundgarden, Audio Slave, and his solo stuff. The best concert I’ve ever been to. And I’ve seen some greats like Queen, Rolling Stones, The Eagles, Aerosmith, and the list goes on.
This song is my favorite song of all time. Chris Cornell was one of the greatest frontmen in my opinion. His song writing was incredibly deep and unique
Hi Maddy! The house depicted in this video was where Jimi Hendrix wrote Purple haze. According to Chris, "It's a guy sitting in a hotel room contemplating death," he said in an interview. "Where you go, what it means, and all the different possibilities. And then coming up with an image he likes, going with the philosophy of, maybe when you die, if you've been good enough in your life, you get to go somewhere you remember that's really cool." 💀
He is singing about a book he picked up in a hotel room that talked about death and where we go if we are goodbye or bad. He sings about a house with many rooms and he just wanrs to be there
The lyrics are Biblical. A book full of death? The Bible. Jesus says "In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?" Cornell's theology is flawed, though. We don't go to heaven because we're good. We go to Heaven because Jesus was good and if we both repent and believe in Him, we will have eternal life.
@@hoopfool8 It's less a theology and a car of generations of parents telling their children, " be good if you want to go to heaven, misbehave and end up in hell". Parents drill that thought into their children's head, with no further explanation given, just those same words over and over. The parents are most often repeating the same phrase drilled into their own parents. The parents may consider themselves to be religious, but the idea is used to instill fear, and the main goal is to reduce the amount of time dealing with a child's mistakes and accidents, the parent doesn't want to be made uncomfortable by having to talk with their child about something they barely understand themselves. Instead of a parent talking with their child about the concept of being kind to others and being respectful of others regardless of what they look like and different choices and opinions, as long as they behave equally respectful, instead of that simple conversation regarding human decency, the parents find it much to tel them the bible will tell them anything they need to know about right and wrong. A book 2000 years out of date, is a poor and lazy way to teach children how to live in the word today, it's the equivalent your child telling their parent they want to be a medical Doctor, and the parent gives them a medical book rewritten 2000 years ago, and the parent says, " These medical book contains everything you will ever need to know to be a Doctor" , would you let that Doctor treat you, or anyone you care about?
maddy you need to be in a vampire movie. you have that super hero vibe going on.. you also have that attention getting voice. i can picture you yelling at a vampire = who left this blood on the bathroom floor. and if the vampires your bf. you saying. boi !!! you know i only drink b=positive blood. have a fun day gurl
Chriss's lyrics have always been extroadinarily dark and depressive. A phenominally brilliant lyric writer and singer. Words from a badly sad, scarred, hurt and haunted person. His lyrics revolve around death, a deep facination with death itself and the want and need to just want to watch the world around him burn. An absolute legend and will forever be missed. This one he is alone, no one around him remaining that cares about him and he is just waiting for Death to take him as he patiently waits for it.
Chris was an amazing songwriter and vocalist! Chris and Freddie Mercury are my two faves. I've been dissecting Chris' songs daily; one at a time. He was such a good lyricist. Chris has a range that is incredible. Audioslave was so prefect to me, but Soundgarden displays Chris' vocals in ways you wouldn't imagine.
"The sky was bruised, the wine was bled, and there you led me on." Who led him on? Artists for decades have had hidden meaning in lyrics and videos. If you listen and watch closely. Then knowing the circumstances behind his death and the documentary he was working on, doesn't take a genius to put the pieces together.
@@MaddyReactions he's singing about waiting like a stone for death to take him, the house he longs to be in is God's house in heaven, remember he says that he will pray to anyone that will take him to heaven, a place that he recalls but hasn't been there in a long time, that's my take on it anyways, RIP Chris, you're home now...
RIP Chris Cornell one of greatest voices in Rock and Roll his and Chester of Lincoln Park suicides hit me hard Chester committed suicide on Cris birthday July 20th
My interpretation: a book full of death - he was reading the bible. "In your house, I long to be Room by room, patiently" I believe it is related to the Bible or inspired by it, more specifically: John 14:2 - "In My Father’s house are many rooms; if that were not so, I would have told you, because I am going there to prepare a place for you." and Psalm 37:7 - “Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.” "And on my deathbed I will pray To the gods and the angels Like a pagan to anyone Who will take me to heaven To a place I recall I was there so long ago The sky was bruised The wine was bled And there you led me on" I believe it is the idea of contemplating the afterlife, your idea of an afterlife. Contemplating death, mortality and what lies after death. A wish for an idea of heaven, something like that. It is just my perspective.
This song still makes me shiver, all these years gone by, especially now that Chris is no longer with us. One of the greatest voices of our generation. Plus, what's with all these onion cutting ninjas?! Audioslave where quite successful back then, having release 3 studio albums. This song is from the first album, which for me is their best. I highly recommend you check out the songs "Cochise", "I am the Highway", "Gasoline", "Show Me How to Live" and "Shadow of the Sun".
Hey Maddy ! I heard that you enjoy reacting to sports videos. I am predominantly a big fan of old school boxing, and I can give you many great requests about that, but as for now, I have a request for you about the greatest rugby player of all time. Many people I know brush off rugby, but believe me, the player I will now request never dissapoints. Have you heard about Jonah Lomu ? He had everything. He was impossible to stop. It often took the entire team to do that. 6'5, 265 pounds and ran a 100m in 10.8 seconds. Here is the best video I have found about him: "Jonah Lomu ULTIMATE TRIBUTE ♛ Lord of the Wings" I would be thankful if you reacted to it, and also, please respond if you notice this.
All of their hits have and are still played on the radio especially here in Ontario Canada. RIP Chris Cornell! Check out Show Me How To Live as well another great song!
This came out November 19 of my senior yr in high school, completely different from anything out at the time with Eminem and Limp Bizkit ruling the radio back then. My best friend listened to sound garden so naturally had this the day it came out, I Was a MetallicaA/ DMX guy and this album brought us together musically. Check out Charlie Crockett "Man from Waco", these days I've been hovering in my roots of modern Appalachian folk & outlaw country, Charlie over-achieves in that track with a classic M'dr ballad
In the Bible Jesus says (not verbatim)"I go to prepare a mansion for you". (In heaven) Chris said that it's about pondering the afterlife but not through conventional religions. Great reaction.
Haunting vibes, sounds like you've listened to Chris Cornell before. I actually prefer his solo stuff, but Soundgarden and Audioslave are standards at my house. You should listen to "When I'm Down" from one of his solo albums.
If you like his voice you should listen to his other band Soundgarden for example blow up the outside world or slaves and bulldozers but his solo stuff are great also .
Liked your reaction, please react to more Chris Cornell, best singer ever imo, he was in multiple bands & has solo stuff & an over an hour long video on RUclips someones put together of a bunch of covers he did from the Beatles, to Prince, with many others so there's a lot to enjoy from him. R.I.P.

No other alt-rock singer of the ’90s compared to Chris Cornell in terms of sheer vocal juice; you’d have to go back decades and/or dip into entirely different genres to find another powerhouse to be considered his peer.
Chris is definitely talented and….was a great person. Best voices in rock….Steve Perry, Dennis DeYoung, Geoff Tate and of course Freddie. Just my spin on leads.
If you are in the mood to, I suggest you to react to any track of Type O Negative's 1991 album "Bloody Kisses". "Christian Woman" would be nice to begin with...

Chris Cornell is the best "Screamer" / Vocalist of the 2000's. He was the lead singer for Soundgarden, I assume that is why he seems familiar to you.
My interpretation:
a book full of death - he was reading the bible.

I believe it is related to the Bible or inspired by it, more specifically:
John 14:2 - "In My Father’s house are many rooms; if that were not so, I would have told you, because I am going there to prepare a place for you."
and Psalm 37:7 - “Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.”

He wished for salvation, that's why he sat and regretted everything. Your interpretation is great we have the same!
