Chosen I agree but do you seriously use Norscan Berserkers? Sisters of Slaughter are underrated as hell and is one of the tanky units for the Dark Elves

Stalkers and Chameleons are entirely different units. I think the list is missing some insane units like Daemonettes, Bloodletters and Chaos Warriors/Chosen, but every unit he included is fairly well justified IMO.

even jade warriors are insanely cost effective for the early game
I agree with saurus, they are broken in earlygame, they have armor and high weapon strength and very cheap and easy to recruit compared to another unit of same cost, 10k health and they have like almost 40 melee attack at 50%hp and 50 weapon strength. Recruit in tier 2 building
khorne chosen with dual weapons seems broken also
but only Kazrak have a power to deploy stalk heavy infantry on the battlefield. no one else can do that. so i give my number one to bestigors.

All varieties of Chosen are insane. 10 chosen and 8 chaos knights can auto resolve double doomstacks quite handily.
Saurus Warriors (Shield), Chosen, Nasty Skulkers, Silverin Guard, Black Ark Corsairs, Tomb Guard, Marauder Champions, Devoted Marauders of Slaanesh (Hellscourges), Greatswords, Bladesingers
I feel like the early gimmick options really should be on a different list, like 'top 10 best niche/specialist infantry' or something.
When I think 'infantry', I think 'hold the line and either cut them down or keep the enemy front line in place'
There's a distinct lack of Chosen of Nurgle in this list...
Chosen of nurgle with great weapons are like black orks on steriods.

I always laugh when people say Skarsnick is hard to play, his campaign ain't difficult at all he beefs the gobbos up so hard making them incredibly strong, heck spend a little bit of scrap on his front line gobbos to give them skarsnick poison and everything they fight takes additional dmg over time making them capable of killing things well above their pay grade.
As a man who loves him some orcs, I am very partial to having me some black orcs. my late game army is usually nine black orcs, eight stone/river trolls, my lord, and the crown jewel of the force... a pair of Arachnorok spiders. I love races like the Orcs, Norsca, the lizard men, vampire counts, anyone that has a good mix of strong front line infantry and monsters so I can use good old fashioned brute force to bludgeon my way to a Victory. That said an army built around lots of cavalry can one, easily counter this build. and two, is much more strategically rewarding to successfully use.
I genuinely hope to see Orcs get some spears in the future, plus those Savage Orcs with big spears, almost like Skaven weapon teams.
That and Colossal Cave Squigs and spitter squigs (giant squigs shooting smaller squigs as artillery)
I'd be happier if the Ogres got a rework. They've kinda sucked to play sense the game came out. I love them though, they are fun to play even if their mechanics make them hard to master. I mean, their realms of chaos campaign is hilarious. Its literally "Oi, lets go kill and bbq up a god bear!" and it just the most hilarious thing ever. Its like if Hangry was a fantasy race.

yea... their speed is ass but once they get there they hit like run away freight trains on most infantry. just gotta wait about 3 months for them to walk to the front line.
The Black Orcs slowly but steadily advancing through the fire towards the Ironbreakers was actually a very epic scene, nice! :)
This is a weird list man. Top 10 by what metric? I agree with you on the last 2, Ironbreakers and ironsworn are definitely top tier, and black orcs probably deserve to be on any melee list, but everything else makes no sense.
No Khorne Units at all? THE melee faction? No chosen, the original kings of melee? No marauder Berserkers? No phoenix/silverin guard, Bladesingers, or even mistwalker units?
Dwarf warriors are good but they're not "top 10", if you're making an efficiency list where is literally every tier 0/1 spearman? You included armoured kossars but not Tzar Guard (I prefer the guns myself but its a TOP 10)?
You have 2 stalking infantry units when you said the point of this category is to hold the line, stalking/shock infantry does a different job.
You started with a weapons team which is not melee infantry, so where are Sacred Kroxigors, Aspiring Champions, Stone trolls, Maneaters or Minotaurs which do the same thing but are much stronger.
I don't understand how you're choosing your top 10, or half the units you picked. Price? Efficiency? Killing power? Staying power? Ease of access? Cool factor? Your favorite unit from each faction but only 10 factions?
I think the bestigors being on here was a good choice too, especially if using Kazrak who can give them stalk and vanguard deployment. Its always fun when the enemy brings ranged units who are useless because your army starts 3 feet away from them.
The four-limbed run of the Death Runners is worryingly adorable.
I feel like the Bloodletters should be here somewhere. Those things can cleave through even some late-game elite infantry.
Prob the best tier one in the game
Belakor Aspiring Champions are hands down, the best unit. Especially after upgrades.
Bestigors are even crazier when you put them in Khazrak’s army as he can give them all kinds of neat stuff like Vanguard and even Stalk!
You can also boost the Infernal Ironsworn with the buffs from the Chorf armoury mechanics which boosts them even higher.
Also the overseer lord buffs the hell out of the armorbof all infernal units
@@chrisyang6487 Honestly I prefer this buff (+20 armor to all Chorf infantry? Yes plz) over what the Sorcerer-Prophet brings to the table. You can always just recruit a daemonsmith instead (who, unlike the S-P, can repair your artillery too), plus without the Overseer all the Chorfs have for melee air support are the winged cows.
All versions of Chaos Chosen, Saurus Warriors, Marauder Berserkers, Aspiring Champions, Exalted Bloodletters, Exalted Plaguebearers. Nothing from the Warriors of Chaos, Daemons, or Norsca, even when their specialty is melee infantry. Limiting this list to 10 is impossible because of how many great melee infantry there are from all the factions in the game.
Well to be somewhat fair, while norsca's specialty is SUPPOSED to be melee infantry, their infantry is pretty darn weak once you get to mid game. They really really really depend almost wholly on their monsters.

This video HAS to be comment bait. And based on the comments it has worked perfectly. There is no way you make a top 10 melee infantry list and then half the entries are stalking specialist units and weapons teams.
It makes me so sad, every time i see a video like this (as great as it is) i have to regognize the insane power creep in this game.

I mean, there's a bit (with Chaos Dwarfs especially) but overall Total Warhammer has had far less power creep than most AAA games. And given most people play singleplayer it doesn't really matter that much. There's so much BS in the AAA game industry these days, I really think we need to pick our battles or else all the criticism becomes white noise

For elite units black orcs and bestigors are nowhere near as good as they really should. With ironsworn having as good stats as they do, it’s a mockery.
Let's make a top 10 melee infantry list for campaign but let's not list Exalted demons, chosen, swordmasters, Bladesingers.
Pretty weird how swordmasters and chosen beat infernal guard and didnt make it in. But crappy dwarf warriors are so "op" they are on the third place lmao. Where's the bladesingers?
Where's the saurus of the lizardmen? Even Basic chaos warriors are better than what half of this list shows.
But clearly dwarf warriors are so op on turn 1 that khorne apparently can't recruit bloodletters on turn 1 to shred them. Oh. He actually can recruit bloodletters on turn 1. Good luck killing op dwarf warriors though. Oh right. Wait a few turns and suddenly nasty skulkers enter the chat. Clearly not a counter to dwarfs btw
The criteria used is just so odd. How in the hell are dwarf warriors “op”??? And chameleons stalkers??? Tf?? Easily one of the most underwhelming units in the game
No mention of Chosen is criminal. Aspiring Champions are a sleeper pick, Temple Guard are also insane, and thats all with the whole "keeping the rest of the army safe" premise, all of them excel at precisely that. Bladesingers are also still one of the best blenders in the entire game, even after multiple nerfs. Hell I would've accepted Tomb or Grave Guard over skinks and Warp Grinders.
It's definitely a subject where it's hard to pick a definitive top 10 because there's so many great ones missing.

Yeah bc their grenades are stupidly op without their nades they are good for holding the line but dish out next to no damage at least against heavily armored units like chosen of nurgle. Btw a shame no chosen unit is here lmao
Very mixed list with some obvious heavy hitter units missing. Chosen of Nurgle and Aspiring Champions are borderline unbeatable with the right technology and Bloodletters of Khorne can rip and tear through basically everything in the game (especially the exalted ones).
Can you do a video on Allied Recruitment? Like depending what faction you're playing, which allies are the best to get that provide the biggest benefit to your army e.g. dwarves with allied cavalry, vamps with ranged units etc
idk how "meta" it is but playing as Karl Franz I like taking the 4 dwarf cannons instead of imperial ones lol

an not-as-obvious-as-it-should-have-been meme i hope. Warp Grinders, Death runners and chameleon skinks have no right to be on a list talking about good melee infantry. They make good flankers/specialists but should absolutely NOT be your main 6-8 melee units.

Chuck exalted demonets in combat with any infantry and see what happens, there mele def/att and the fact they lower att makes them deadly, plus there really quick
So I get that cost and accessibility are a part of it (otherwise Dwarf Warriors wouldn't be #3) but where would you put Chosen, Swordmasters, etc.?

I conquered the whole world with nearly every single faction and legendary difficulty and I have to write under the headline "Top 10 Melee Infantry Units" this is a very very poor list. Sorry man.
black orcs are a sleeper pick for singleplayer nowadays since they have extremely high hp and weapon strength, but low attack and defence stats. this is easily solved on the campaign with a variety of buffs, so what ends up happening is black orcs will win against anything thats not an LL. the only time ive ever had a wasted black orc unit was when i was fighting 2 weapons team stacks and grimgor was the last orc standing. still a fun match
This is a very weird list and I disagree espc on the first half.
Not trying to be a hater man but why on earth are we ranking chameleon stalkers as a “Top 10 MELEE infantry” video? Their entire gimmick revolves around not being in melee.
Now lets have Top 10 WORST melee units in the game:
1. Empire's Spearmen.
lol they are bad but there are worse. Goblin spears, EVERY Vampire Coast infantry unit, and EVERY Bretonnia infantry.
@@canadiangopher4443 Goblins have shields at least, and can easily be buffed with goblin tide.
@@jshadowhunter yeah but the gobbo mass is so low that any cavalry or monstrous infantry or monsters just barrel right through them, the whole point of spear units is they are better for anti large but gobbos not so much and their leadership is also superlow there is no reason at all even in the early game to use gobbo spears.

Exaulted deamonettes are literally sisters of slaughter but better offensive stats. The have just as good of melee defense but shred through anything in prolonged melee combat
Black orcs are my favourite. Get the red tree up on the lord, give them anti-infantry or more armour and watch them break every infantry unit they come up against.

Where are the chosen and the hoemasters? They literally beat every unit on here apart from the infernal ironsworn and even them if they don‘t land all three nade volleys

Have you ever used aspiring champions? On very hard/very hard I defeated 3 armies of dwarf end game crisis using only 15 if them and my lord.

How the hell are Bladesingers not on this list? Very high magic attacks, very high speed. With that speed they can flank and even not flanking they can tear through Black Orks and other top tier units. Stats-wise, they are one of the best melee units in game period. I think they get overlooked because people use Wood Elf archers a lot.
Yes, they are weak to missiles, but then so is almost everything else you listed. And Bladesingers are in an army that can easily handle enemy missile troops.

My top ten Monsterous Infantry list, number 10 Skaven Slaves, well maybe not really technically a monstrous unit, but they aren't human so therefore they are monsters. 9. Salamanders, although more of a ranged unit, they can technically attack in melee so I will add it just because.

Man did not put Chameleon Skinks and Sisters of Slaughter in top ten infantry over Chosen and Greatswords that can cut thru most of these units like cake? If you want to get specific Greatswords are both anti infantry AND armor piercing unit that goes thru one, two, three, four and five other infantry if you can peel any range unit off of them and Chosen of Khorne in army mop doomstacks like they are a bad joke.
AND both of them have so much armor they are slow motion tanks, your only job is to stop large entities and missiles mobbing them and just right click on enemy formation.

People are reading the title as best melee units stats wise, but he is ranking them in terms of utility and how useful they are in covering your weaknesses or synergizing with strengths. The best units stats wise can be found on spreadsheets
For the infernal ironsworn, there was one battle where I had to fight 2 and a half cathayan army stacks playing as the Legion of Azgorh. The half stack were coming in from a narrow entry point and I placed two infernal ironsworn to block the reinforcements. The ironsworn not only blocked that army, but repelled it.

Chaos warriors great weapons of nurgle will beat any other infantry 1v1
i keep forgetting these are base game units, with the amount of mods i have for my game wooo its a very close call but by the far the best front lines melee ive seen is Trajaans iron corps troops especially the great swords ones, they can keep enemies in place long after the enemy dies, having like at least 4 or maybe 2 of them in any army will make the enemy frontline quiver.

I like Saurus a lot, and they are so important to their faction. That said, I rather like the inclusion of Dwarf Warriors in the tough early game line infantry category. Saurus are great, but you pay for their greatness, and you have to wait a bit and pay more for shields.
Dwarf Warriors are really quite cheap for how good they are, and come with shields from the get-go.

How Aspiring Champions is not on this list blows my mind. They are top top tier, have more armor then 90% of what you listed. Get an over shield AND perfect Vigor. ...Are you sure you have actually played this game or did you just watch RUclips videos on it because your either very Biast or did NOT do your research at all.

Im sorry but this list is absolute garbage.
- No khorne units AT ALL, which is already funcking insanity. The exalted bloodletters mulch any infantry you throw at them and even chosen of khorne can do so heavy damage
- Exalted plaguebearers completely missing, with their missiles and their insane tankyness
- No saurus units, like who the fuck doesnt put saurus with shields in this list. Probably the best early game infantry, you can get the blessed versions and the buff them up to be absolute monsters with krokgar or gor-rok, super resistant, high meele stats and weapon strength and then they have that passive instincs that buffs them even more and detect any stalking units from miles away.
The list is absolutely appalling mate. You should rename this video to 'my favourite' or something along those lines.
I get that you're making the point with unit tier, their role in a race army and theme into account but so many of these units are objectively mid.
Armoured Kossars and Bestigors in particular are just underwhelming units that have their roles fulfilled to a superior degree by other units in their roster at similar tiers. Bestigors lose to Empire greatswords for gods sake!

Dwarf warriors just don't perform very well in all the campaigns I've used them in. Early battles they will be in tatters compared to slayers or just going mostly Quarrellers as Dwarfs.
Your not clear your are identifying these as the best 10 for the price point however even considering this your list is not at all accurate in my opinion, jade warriors are as cheap as chips and very tanks, particularly with ying/yang the out perform dwalf warriors in every way including having a silver rather than bronze shield, bestigors are one of the worst elite infantry and carnt go toe to toe with hardly anyone at the price Point, yes there quick but otgerwise not very good, chaos warriors of nurgle with flashy abundance are almost unkillable, no sword masters which can beat all other infantry one of one (non ROR) since they were buffed, they completely outclass black orks and bestigors and have some missile resistance, death runners are a fun unit but very micro intensive and very squishy if properly countered, no nasty skulkers which are nearly as good but much cheaper and early game?
