    I think you're underestimating the Depth Guard, I've had campaigns (multiplayer ones so I know this isn't just dumb AI issues) where I've been able to take out multiple units with just a single Depth Guard unit whilst only losing 1-2 models from the Depth Guard. the fact that they're a smaller unit also means that it's easier for them to be surrounded or for your own troops to go around them in order to more easily aim at and shoot the enemies that the Depth Guard are holding back
    as for Eshin Triads I think they're only there to basically serve as an Eshin counterpart to Stormvermin that they can use without worrying about the increased recruitment cost.

      Depth Guards have been buffed recently and are killers in melee combat. You do not want them to get shot by archers or artillery though.

      I think the problem for triads is trading armor for stealth is actively bad for the job they are meant to be doing.

    I like the Triads for sneaky backline harass. Like yeah Death Runners would be better at killing Artillery and Archers but then they’re very vulnerable to any Cav that was supposed to be defending the backline. Whereas Triads can still easily beat most backline troops and then are very much still a threat to any Cav that responds to their backline attack. And if the enemy tries to send infantry in response they can beat most chaff and if it’s a threatening infantry their speed and concealment bombs can make for an easy escape. They seem to preform like a more durable Death Runner unit.

      I always imagined that the eshin triad are like the scouts in WH40k Spacemarines. Not yet fully trained deatahrunners, but they are in the trainging of becoming one.

    Really wish you could combine a lone Dreadquake mortar with a line engine unit to create a train. Also, I wish the train could have multiple carts attached to it

      @devonmcmanus7744 you can't take a unit card of dreadquake, place it on a unit of shotty train, and have dread train. You can't even have the train use an attach ability in battle. The full train is a separate unit. That sucks.

    Last time I played Chorfs the Dreadquake Mortar only used 1 unit cap slot vs 2 on the other variants. That alone makes it the better choice when you want to be able to spam them en masse across 10+ armies, especially when you also have to increase unit caps of other unit types.

    Eshin triads work well in stealth armies if you're going up against enemy armies with lots of large units. I see people playing Eshin with Skryre and Pestilens tech and it breaks my heart.

    soul grinders do not belong in this list
    their melee animation is an infantry killer, slaanesh specifically is also anti-large

    actually like the slaanesh soul grinders more then the khorne one, it actally has a function killing SEM like crazy. yes slaanesh has other options that do the same it is great in that the khorne version feels like it doesn't really know what you want to use it for.
    Giants are more situational, in some matchups they are ust horreble yet in some they are just a bit above average. but i don't see how you can really fix them. cause just massive missle resist wont even fix the giant in bad matchups
    for the depth guards with dual axes i think you are stuck looking at the unit card to mutch. cause the big difference with polearms is their rate of attack. they attac way faster and are really usefull clearing chav in domination who can't even hurt them cause high armor and healing in combat.
    eshin triads are great in multipayer with flankin cav and catching people unaware who wanna run into your gunline only to lose a 1/3 of their cav hp due to charge reflection. but the AI is to bad to these units to really use against
    corpe cart sill has beter options, greail relique i think is even worse cause your infantry will just rout in 5 seconds anyway efore that slow as think reaches the line. at least the undead horde doesn't rout and can actually use the minr buff it brings

      If it makes you feel any better, if you prefer SFO over vanilla, Depth guard are absolutely insane, they annihilated my melee frontline multiple times to the point I had to #1 Focus them with Star Dragon breath attacks or full archer focus before they engage or they would rack up 150+ kills against my mid-late game Silverin guards, pretty high stat unit overall with good staying power

    I want to give my honorable mention: The Vargulf. It only doses 250ish damage, which is really unimpressive for a single entity.
    Just take Vahrgeists instead. The do 100 damage each, have 12 models and can fly.

    Dreadquake Mortars are at least better than Goblin Laborers. Why not just spend a little more for Orc Laborers for the early game. Same argument, just at the point where the Chorfs aren't swimming in the dosh yet.

    Chaos dwarf have unit cap so taking the normal dreadquake mortar is good when the other option its already capped.

    Giants in Nurgle-led WoC are fucking amazing. And even decent in regular WoC armies.
    And dreadquake mortars are amazing, even when not pulled by a train.

    I like the Triads, but they're only good as Snikch. He's the one who needs to focus on their buffs... and they get better bonuses in his army. I've gotten them to get hundreds of kills as Snikch. They're fast, and they have stalk. Mix them with death runners, and you have the perfect flanking squad.

    Can you do a Immortal Empires guide for Taurox? I got it recently but It gets difficult the longer you play, almost impossible to do diplomacy with chaos warriors and it takes forever to raise a proper army just to get deleted by elf bows with cavalry

    triads are also very good at covering your artillery from flanking calvary as they will unknowingly charge right up into the triads who will then shred them to bits

    I'll make an arguement for base corpse cart - available through raise dead and can maintain vigor on your line units.
    Placing one behind a formation of skeleton spearmen and zombies can make the difference between them wearing down at the same speed as the enemy and being fresh while the enemy is exhausted. You still want the necromancer to heal them, but if they can't access the cart yet, it can get it's worth and then some. Its just hard to measure directly.

    Depth Guard : plus, if you want a tarpit unit to hold your frontline, Sirens are just over there ! 80% physical resist + a melee attack debuff bound to their attack !
    Eshin Triad : well the stalk DOES allow them to NOT get murderd with range until they're actually in the thick of it, where they can do their job, see Stormvermins do that...
    Carrion : are useless... Unless we talk about Djahf's flight, the mortuary cult's RoR. These guys have been soloing elven and greenskin combat lords for breakfeast to me !

    about the eshin triads
    what you've said as a joke is actually what you wan to use them for
    you use them either to cover death-runners against cavalry,or when the artillery is actually a large unit, like war-wagons
    if you want to use deathrunners, having a triad covers them quite well, since both have the same mobility

    For the Eshin Triads, I think they're too large-brained of a unit to be used against the AI, to be honest. To quote Sun Tsu "Appear weak when you are strong": present your opponent with an exploitable gap in your defenses, only for them to realize too late that the gap was actually filled by an Eshin Triad squad. Now they have to either pull their cavalry back, wasting their time and giving your missile units more space, commit to the unfavorable matchup and trade unfavorably, or get completely sidetracked microing elsewhere and not even get your cavalry's charge bonus vs the triads and only realize after the fact that your cavarly is getting wrecked by spears you didn't know were there... and if your opponent respects your triads then you give them much more room to roam the map. Essentially, they specialize in wasting the enemy cavalry's time.
    Naturally, the AI will never respect the presence of stealthed units it can't see, it will never have attention issues and not see their cavalry's situation changing suddenly, and are generally easy enough to exploit without spending extra on a stealthy frontline unit.

    I kinda like the Eshin Triads, they serve as a great front lines if you combine them with mortars, since they are small in numbers, and a tad bit quicker to just run from the area.

      @@cam9144 Indeed stormvermin are better at holding the line, but if you play as the Deathmaster himself the Eshin Triads are much easier to use due to their small numbers disengaging is easier. I don't know a lot about how you guys play but I guess it all boils down to tactics and preference.

    Oh god the carrion, I played Tomb kings as that’s my favourite roster. But as soon as I drop them on a weak unit like archers they immediately drop and break, I just use them as a replenishment for the realm of souls as they can’t even kill fell bats.

    Zhangu war drum are ment for yuan bo army since you don't have a heavy infantry and a very versatile one you use te drum to keep the melee going whilste moving your infantry around, they are perfect for protecting your range unit based army

    Eshin Triads can be absurdly good, but they are nuanced. They can give even Chaos Knights and Grail Guardians a run for their money if they get a good engagement, but they specialize in running interference. They will absolutely mop the floor with low/mid tier cav and large units who run into them when they aren't expecting a line of spears, and once they try to disengage, you give an attack order so they can never reform ranks. It's rare for me to take them into a battle and for them to come out with less value than they cost.

    Base dread quake mortars takes less to unlock so you can have more of them quicker, and that cost less per turn.

    triads are alright in multiplayer i like them as a secondary unit in domination to help peel off cav units, to ninja cap objectives or to put pressure on the enemy backline (usually artillery) by using them as walmart deathrunners
    so you kinda have to rely on your opponent realizing too late that there are some sneaky danger rats among your disposable ratarmy and that's 2 factors that disqualify them for the campaign imo
    1. you don't want to go into melee cause pew-pew is meta
    2. you can't rely on the ai "not realizing" your triads so you'd have to lure the ai in bad engagements and...
    just use weapons teams honestly :D

    gaint is extremely powerful for in woc doomstack, easy to get 90 missile resistance while they can stand together within various areas and buffs.

    Giants can beat up a Bloodthirster and a Great Unclean One. They're also quicker to recuit

    A bit surprising that you call out Depth Guard out of all the sus units in VCoast's roster. You can position them behind gunners and have them rush forward I you're concerned about LoS (or are too lazy to form proper formations).

    Ive never had a bad experience with giants, maybe you just suck with them but I’ll continue to use them, plus i wish the tomb kings got another better flying unit to counteract the carrion.

    Only thing I disagree with is the war drum, that thing just buffs everything so much all in one little package. Its a great unit to put in smaller side armies in place of the handful of heroes it takes the place of.

    Giant has been buffed a lot and it is the most efficient unit against melee faction. Feral cold one, depth guard are not useless after huge buff in warhammer 3. I don't think this guy is playing actual game.

    I used war drum on hard , very hard and it works i think its a decent unit
    The real are RoR version that just slaps with that magic imbument buff
    On a 1-10 scale its a 5 for me
    The RoR is a 8

    Imagine putting depth gaurd whos build is one of the best vampire count units in domnination and multiplayer in general is one of the worst units in the game. Like bro do you play the game. The fact they are also different units you can recruit both much faster thab only one.

    Are they the worst or even all bad? No
    Are there much more optimal options? Yep
    All these decisions are made from an in-faction perspective. Not really taking interactions between other factions into account. So maybe make a video about that!

    Starting a worst unit list with units that aren't great but also aren't really "the worst". Come on, dude. And have an engagement.
    And Giants, not quite "worst" either, are they? In fact they're largely okay'ish now. They're not a tier 5 unit, they don't have to compete against tier 5 units, and they do a fairly good job if you can avoid going up against too much shooting. Think of them as a tier 3 beatstick, because that's really what they are. Great melee attack, great damage. Great for cleaning up mediocre melee lords.
    Depth guard, yeah, not a very good unit. Not quite as terrible as they once were but not that good either. But you're presenting them as holders. Roadblockers. That's like complaining that daemonettes aren't tanky enough. Depth guard aren't meant to hold, they're meant to flank and kill trash units. And they do that pretty well, if you can keep any and all ranged off their back, which is damn hard. Which is why they suck. Oh, and depth guard polearms, now those are trash. What are they good against? All the large units they can kill can outrun them trivially and they still can't really tank.
    Triads, yeah, I don't think they're really that bad. They're stalkiing melee infantry with speed ~50 and BvL. I don't think you're meant to spam them but if you do want something that can keep up with your Eshin skirmish army and hold some cav off for a little bit, there you go. That's pretty much what they do and all they do. If you're trying to move 10 units of gutterrunners into position and you want something nearby that can sort of hold cav for a little bit, you don't really want a big red arrow screaming "I HAVE UNITS RIGHT HERE!! COME NOW!! KILL ME!! RIGHT HERE!!!", do you? Maybe you do. In that case, use stormvermin.
    Yeomen, sure. Terrible. War drums? Haven't actually tried them but they look like a bigger war compass, which in turn was a larger grail relique that also boosted spell efficiency. I believe the war drum does this also, which means it's probably awful, but it's still better than a grail relique. Feral cold ones, carrion, sure, awful in both cases.
    The humble corpse cart at number 1? Well, it does suck hard but it isn't quite useless. If you don't have those other carts and you have an awful big blob of zombies, the basic cart buff is significantly better than nothing. Contrast with VCoast deck droppers or chaos screamers or chaos furies. Or the grail relique, which you do not have on the list and which is by far the worst unit in the game. Come to think of it, chorf laborers, tall and small, are also really terrible, aren't they? Which reminds me, did they ever make gobbo wolf riders and squig riders and squig herds remotely useful?
    And if you want terrible variants then how about the daemon prince of khorne? All the daemon princes casted spells all day, except for the khorndawg, because he was still crying about not having enough milk for his khorneflakes.
