Was really difficult to see the difference from the video visual, and actually looked like the copy sample looked better than the A-Sub from my view. That being said, the bleed-through is very obvious. I won't be using ordinary copy paper for sublimation. Thanks for the video.
Real Laser printer paper is much better, but i may be off as %90 of the craft channels call parchment paper "butcher paper" which to me is nuts as butcher paper has a wax coating.
Thank you for making short and sweet videos. Some creators would have made this same content 45 mins long. You rock! On a sublimation note. I ran glitter vinyl through my printer and it turned out FANTASTIC! Taped it to card stock and did a print to cut.
We tried using ASub paper for over a year and our Epson printer made "pizza wheel" tracks on it regardless of what custom print settings we tried (and we tried EVERYTHING everyone recommends). But it never made the ink tracks on copy paper. The tracks issue became so bad we eventually had to stop doing in-house sublimation work and now have a very expensive printer and heat press we no longer use. We will try using the copy paper instead since I didn't know you could actually do this for sublimation. Thank you so much for doing this experiment!
Thanks so much for this sublimation paper vs. copier paper comparison, I agree that if you’re going to print out all that ink, you want it to absorb into the material you’re sublimating and not the trash. I appreciate you, be blessed & I pray you’re having a healthy, happy new year!!!
Thanks. Funny from the angle the copy and Hippoo looked similar but I do know lighting is a factor. I’ve been using Asub. Will probably stick there but thanks to you I know I could use copy paper in a pinch for demos. Thank you for always helping us.
I worked in a copy center it seems like ultra white 32 lb paper would be better considering it doesn't bleed even when printing with double the normal in for super dark black. And a sheet of normal copy paper on the back infront of the heat to absorb extra ink seems better that using heat paper. Great video though
This is another good comparison. I think for me it would depend on what I was putting it on. I do shirts for my little granddaughter for different holidays to wear to school. They are pretty much one time use or she wears them out to play. By the next year she has outgrown it. Other than that I would use the sublimation paper. Thanks Angie.
@@AngieHolden I am new to sublimation but I was wondering if you were going to use copy paper, can you not just adjust the amount of ink the printer puts down on the paper somehow? Thanks for the videos!!!
Thanks this was a great comparison video!! I personally use HIIPOO and am glad to see there was very little (to what I can see on the screen) difference if any of the two actual sublimation papers! 🥰
Another great comparison though with my aging eyes, I can barely tell the difference on the shirt😫I agree that you want as much ink in the fibers not left on the paper and no bleeding. I’ll stick with sub paper. Thanks!
I've been using PrintersJack sublimation ink & sublimation paper and I've been getting a lot of streaks & errors in the print-outs. I ran several print head cleanings and the result was still the same. However, when I printed out on copy paper, there were no errors at all. Do you think that the streaks & errors on the sublimation paper be due to type of paper or the 120 GSM I've been using?
Thanks for this comparison.. I had no idea that the copy paper would even work.. it would be interesting to see if adjusting the time pressed for the copy paper would release more of the ink and also how it stands up to washing. totally a newbie at sublimation..
Considering how cheap A-Sub paper is (my go-to) I don't really see the need to go cheaper and let my results take a hit. I've been really happy with it. In a pinch, though, the idea of using copy paper is fascinating. Makes me wonder if you used a higher-end paper if that would make a difference. I have some cheapo copy paper at home that's really thin, and some "good" paper I use for work-related documents and things that need that little extra something, and that might mitigate some of the bleeding, although if I'm using that stuff I probably could just save money and time and use the A-Sub paper anyway!
Hi Miss Angie! I did not even know till today that you "could" use copy paper and not sublimation paper for the transfer LOL. That being said I tried it out, Only my dummy self printed it out on my inkjet printer *DUH* and thought "well, this doesn't transfer at all" HAHA! Instead of putting the copy paper in my sublimation printer with the sub ink...ah well that will be tomorrow's try out. Okay my thought is, what about using the copy paper as it is less "bright" as background papers? I cut up my extra sub (printed) papers for that after I have used them one time...because they are faded and look super cool as backgrounds...Just a thought!
Thanks for the comparison. I was wondering about those 2. Recently purchased a black sublimation ink pad. Wasnt sure if i was going to need sublimation paper. Will try copy paper. Hope it works.
Probably a dumb question, but I’m still confused on if an inkjet printer is the only requirement to print on sublimation paper, or if its both the inkjet printer AND sublimation ink… any clarification? I have a deskjet 3752 and I dont know if i still have to convert it or not if i get the sublimation paper… Thanks 🙏
I have never sublimated on printable vinyl. I am actually not sure why people do that? I would just print with an inkjet if I was using printable vinyl?
I talked about it at the first of the video. It is from Sams as I buy in bulk. It is regular copy paper but it is rated for use in a laser printer/copier so that I know it will withstand the heat.
I loved your videos, I'm glad I found you, thank you I'm now subscribed to your channle. I do have a question, I'm looking to buy a sublimation printer, which exact epson printer do you have? I have a Canon inkjet mx922 and I don't think I can use it for sublimation?
Hi I am newbie to sublimation I just got a Epson printer still have not taken it out of the box, now my question and my confusion is I’m trying to make larger prints for shirts and hoodies, I’m not sure if I can do that with sublimation inks printer also I also want to use dark color shirts. @@AngieHolden i understand. the laser paper is a lot thicker than regular copy paper and it does a good job and cheaper than sub paper. thanks for the reply

Hello again…..suggestion…..why not do the heat press again using the papers again and see if that copy paper will still do good since it had more ink left over? And can we try it on tumbler or mug? Thank you.

It was lighter in person but video fools you! The bleed through was easy to show though!

Interesting!! That sounds like an experiment I can get behind!

Great comparison, the copy paper looked better than I thought it would.
It did surprise me but the bleed through disappointed me a LOT! I don't want to worry about getting ink on everything.

There was really zero difference in the sublimation papers as far as appearance.

Thank you Angie. I haven’t attempted sublimation yet, but, I do appreciate the knowledge you share with us. ❤️
I’m always learning 😁
You are so welcome!
Ms. Holden: I have tried several brands of sublimation paper. For me, 'Hiipoo' is the best.
I definitely love their paper!

I would not adjust the time/temperature any more than is recommended for the blank as you run the risk of burning it.

The ink pads work with regular copy paper. I use it all of the time with those.
@AngieHolden have you tested vellum paper for sublimation? I want to use it for lining up things easier because you can see through it.
I have not.
Great job! Now can you compare the difference between 120g, 125g etc...
Very informative. I'll just use sublimation paper.
A-Sub is the paper I use. I'd read about the bleed-through with regular copy paper, and so I've avoided using that.
Thank you for the comparison.
I believe you, but I seriously cannot se the difference at all.
Good point on the extra paper to protect your press though.
Thanks for sharing Angie.
Thank you Angie!!! Also where do you buy your shirts? Have a customer wanting v neck. Thanks
I like the v-necks from Cricut! They do run a little small though!
Did the copy paper bleed under as well? That’s where I thought it would bleed.
The copy paper is the one that bled through so bad.

Hi I just ordered the eco tank 2800 printer my question is I want to use it to make T-shirts and I also print out school work
You can only use the printer for sublimation once you convert it.
Very helpful, Angie! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
If you're going to transfer/sublimate on to printable vinyl isn't inkjet paper accepted. Somewhere I read that it was. Am I mixing apples & oranges?

Great video - I’ve used copy paper before i got my sub paper - No going back lol
I am not going back either! HA!

Can you please give me a list of dimensions for the wraps you would use for the tumblers, mason jar, can Koosies etc.
That is dependent on your blank. A lot of blanks have a template you can download.
How much does the copy paper sub fade after washing?

I found you cannot use copy paper on clothes or fabric butI used it on making a cup it worked fine! On fabric it washes out!
Interesting!
Mine never wash out. Maybe you aren't using a high enough polyester content fabric
I'd be curious to see the wash results with the copy paper.
It really shouldn't fade on the shirt I used it on as the ink should be permanent either way.
I think the A-Sub looks best
Iv just ordered a Epsom printer do I av to order sublimation ink for the model or can I get ink as long as it’s sublimation ink

If I don't have the printer, can I put sub. Paper on my credit mat And use sub. Markers?
Yes. They make sublimation markers, paint, and even stamp pads.

No. It will not work for regular printing.

I don't press my sublimation prints twice. Sorry!
Laser printer paper should work better
This was okay for laser printers.
