Awesome video! Looks like you guys had an absolute blast making it and ripping around. As you mentioned, definitely not an apples to apples comparison as far as performance mods go between the two bikes. The M8’s factory tune runs really lean. Add an exhaust and it’s usually a lot worse. They also do not like short exhaust, especially 2-2. Which you have on the LRS. Plus, like you said the M8 LRS already has the stage 1 heavy breather intake. Coupled with the crappy stock tune and the exhaust that’s killing your torque, your M8 LRS has a lot of disadvantages over the 110 Screamin Eagle TC on the Dyna LRS. Even if you didn’t change your exhaust and just got a professional tune done on the M8 you’d be closing that gap by quite a bit.
Agreed, that exhaust on the M* is really not fair. Would love to see equal tune on each. I own a 2014 Dyna stage 2 and thinking of switching to M8, but still heistating
Totally agree with you when I test rode the new low rider the ergonomics were very off for me being 6’3 with the seat pushing you forward and the pegs lifting you up, and Harley having power bars on it. As much as I enjoyed the power and suspension I knew I’d have to make some immediate changes to ride it and be comfortable.
Hey Blockhead I am still missing one video. The series of video you made how to ride a bike connected me to your channel, I was wondering if you could make one last video about what comes next after driving like parking the bike, reversing, moving around while bike is still off. Do even bikes have parking brake?
It's videos like this that really make me enjoy your content!! I love watching you build bikes and then when you finally get to ride it and brake it down for us it's the absolute best you guys are like a kid in a candy shop!!! If this isn't adulting at its finest I don't know what life is about
Blockhead should’ve gone with a 2 in 1 exhaust for the more power honesty instead of “looks” More compression from the 2 in 1 exhaust performs better than a dual exhaust does. That’s why most dynas or baggers that one a performance bike go with that choice. I noticed a huge difference from a proper tune, my bassani RR3 and air cleaner upgrade for my 96ci. I could just imagine the difference on an m8 or 117.
My bother had a 02 dyna lowrider with the A motor. It ran 12.62 at sacramento dragway. I had a 03 nightrain B motor and he would pull me no matter where or how we start. The A rubber mounted twin cams rip
Good vid bros ! I got a 2014 dyna low rider (103 ci)Vance & Hines short shots and high flow air filter and computer tuned. All the power I need, hell never get into 6th gear unless I'm on the highway lol, but it's nice to have when u want to use it. The 103 seems to be an excellent motor, time will tell. Ride on brothers ✌
I am almost sure its due to lack of tuner and those 2-2 exhaust pipes only good for making noise. Put a cam in that M8 with a tune and 2-1 exhaust, will change your whole ride. BTW if you get the mirrors from a touring bike they are a bit longer and let you see behind you. I am you size and had the same issue with my 18' fat bob, switch out the mirrors and good to go.

I own a dyna 117 imo its better than the M8 softail. The M8 is a little bit smoother but the M8 has more issues than the twin. Both great bikes. I love mine.
I feel like it depends what seating position you like. And whether you like to see the frame/lines vs the swingarm and shocks. I prefer sitting "on" the bike as on a dyna vs. sitting "in" the bike as on a softail. But i'm liking the smooth ride and rigid setup of my new softail.
I like how near the end the bike on the left has a better line with the way the tank sits a little higher. When I win the sporty in the next give away please have some old man suspension. I have back issues and that would help me ride longer. Thanks. I like the softail better. It has a better profile and doesn't look like a glorified sportster.
Twin Cam on that bike ain’t no joke. I rode a Softail lowrider S with a 107 m8, then rode a 2015 streetglide with 103 TC. The 103 felt so much torqued over the m8, also quicker. The m8 shook bad under hard acceleration WOT.
Twin cam sounds so much better than the new M8's. But ride quality on the new softails is phenomenal 👌 throw an fp3 on your softail. The tune will definitely give it a little more 😉
The Dyna 100S motor has a SE355 cam from the factory. The M8 114S has a stick cam. This makes a big difference in power band d especially how far the torque extends through the range. Block needs a cam upgrade. I put the SE “Torque” cam kit in my 114 and it makes a HUGE difference. This Dyna is a great bike though. I wish I had won it.
Totally worth it. I didn’t have it dyno tunes or tested. I use the Screamin’ Eagle tuner and downloaded the map. The power and torque are immediately noticeable. It pulls much harder from down low, and the torque curve goes much higher into the rev range. I had a stage 2 twin cam Softail 110 Slim S that had good power, but this has a lot more.
Heyyy it me am back lol. Got me fxdb inlove with it. Question the shield glass yall Got, does it let you drive smooth at 80+ mph in windy day or does it wabble due to high speed + wind?
First off, thank you for making the comparison video. Personally, I'm a Dyna-Holic... My favorite Dyna was the late 90's early 00's FXR. I still have a 2010 FXD that early on I got juiced by Dave Mackie. I'm considering a new bike someday but I'm not convinced with the softail yet. I appreciate the softail, just not convinced.
The Dyna has a screaming eagle motor so it has better flowing cylinder heads. And was built by Harley Davidson as a high-performance motor where the Milwaukee eight is a standard Motor is built for more every day riding. But Milwaukee eight also can be built should have a Lotta power because it has a lot of valves and two spark plugs per cylinder and runs cooler.
You Commented on wanting to ride the tail of the Dragon . Check out the Back of the Dragon on Hwy 16 in Virginia. A lot of riders claim they like it better. It’s about 2 and 1/2 hours away from the tail of the dragon. It’s like right in my back yard. If you ever decide to ride it give me a yell dude.
Traded my twin in for a 114 stage I. Big difference in terms of pull , acceleration engine heat and suspension. My old twin was good and had same brand exhaust rhineharts but with everything else that old bike had no problem stopping but the new bike with the ABS on it stops well and is very good controlled when stopping. I can stop at a shorter distance with the new bike that's at least 200 lbs more. Was wondering before y'all swapped what that noise was. When you said something about the rev limiter the lightbulb went on.
I said it before when you went see John Maxwell and was planning a ride of the dragon. Go do the dragon but after go to Hwy151 the devils drop. Its shorter but will get you saying meh about the dragon. Make sure you go on the downward route and pay attention. There's only one warning sign ond the devils drop. And when you get a bout a mole or to where the road becomes really tame past the small waterfall there the hwy151 diner. Nice people great food.

I owned both the twin cam and the M8 and I’d take the 2017 over the 2020 AMYDAY!!! And I worked for Harley for over a year
is there a reason for that?
Different strokes for different folks. I'm curious to know the reasons of why you like the dyna better?
??
Great video! I didn’t expect the Softail M8 to be slower!
Hey Blockhead I am still missing one video. The series of video you made how to ride a bike connected me to your channel, I was wondering if you could make one last video about what comes next after driving like parking the bike, reversing, moving around while bike is still off. Do even bikes have parking brake?
No, they don't. If you want to park at a slope (which is generally not recommended) you have to park it in gear to prevent it from rolling.
It's videos like this that really make me enjoy your content!! I love watching you build bikes and then when you finally get to ride it and brake it down for us it's the absolute best you guys are like a kid in a candy shop!!! If this isn't adulting at its finest I don't know what life is about
Exactly 💯
I'm 48 and this is the best part of adulting!!
Love your comment
Leaning softail.. so much more that you can do to that bike, as you have it basically stock. Love the comparison and your personal touches are sick!
Since I haven't win b4, I'm buying softtail or dyno after winter. Get my license may, get my bike.
Blockhead should’ve gone with a 2 in 1 exhaust for the more power honesty instead of “looks”
More compression from the 2 in 1 exhaust performs better than a dual exhaust does. That’s why most dynas or baggers that one a performance bike go with that choice. I noticed a huge difference from a proper tune, my bassani RR3 and air cleaner upgrade for my 96ci. I could just imagine the difference on an m8 or 117.
Man that looks like so much fun can’t wait to get my first bike soon
I just saw that dyna in the Sacramento HD dealership. Cool to see.
Dyna here, good job on build. I prefer the inverted mirrors look (sorry bagger bro). Luke your one lucky SOB.
131cuin....soon
Should I buy a new 2022 Low rider ST and customize for $31K or buy a 2016 Dyna stage 4, 5K miles for $21K? The Dyna was a beast!
I freaking love @baggerbro 😂😂😂 gives every video a ton of comedy hahahahaha and daaaaaaamn now Im even more in love with the Dyna!! Gonna be a hard choice between both when the time comes!! Awesome job Blockhead 🙌🙌 35 IS JUST A SUGGESTION!!! 😂😂😂😂
Thank you very much. 😊
@@BaggerBro Eric i really enjoy seeing you on this channel. I live in Kansas city but would love to tear up some wings or pizza with you. Ride safe and keep your head on a swivel down there in Florida bro
Luke!!! We cali boys!! Lmk which city you at so I can be able to see the beauty
You guys rock! Best comparison vid I've seen. Fantastic. DYNA ❤
Glad you enjoyed it!
Looks go to the Softail .... for me ... but was very impressed with the torque/speed of the Dyna !! Good show .
I definitely want to get a saddlemen seat and get the RS SV crest stiched on. bike looks so good and color combo is awesome!
13:21 "woooh 35 is just a suggestion". He sounded exactly like Jimmy from GTA V when he was yelling that his dad is a movie producer xD
I love my 16 fat boy s… Just can’t upgrade to a m8 just yet
Choose hell, I'll take both.Very nice Blockhead.
I think BaggerBro would be a lot of fun , if you come down here ( Australia ) we can party .
I own a dyna 117 imo its better than the M8 softail. The M8 is a little bit smoother but the M8 has more issues than the twin. Both great bikes. I love mine.
I like the way the Dyna looks more with exposed shocks. The Softails never have looked correct to me.
Do you have new ink on your right forearm? Loved this video.
Dyno tune is the biggest difference. There’s a lot left on the table on the softail stock tune.
I like how near the end the bike on the left has a better line with the way the tank sits a little higher. When I win the sporty in the next give away please have some old man suspension. I have back issues and that would help me ride longer. Thanks. I like the softail better. It has a better profile and doesn't look like a glorified sportster.
What a great video! I own the 2016 lowrider s and done up club style. I choose it because it's finally paid for!
That being said, 4 months later I traded it in on a 2021 lowrider s! Lol! - only $4k cash difference out the door.
Time to upgrade to a 2-1 exhaust system for the FXLRS
Twin Cam on that bike ain’t no joke. I rode a Softail lowrider S with a 107 m8, then rode a 2015 streetglide with 103 TC. The 103 felt so much torqued over the m8, also quicker. The m8 shook bad under hard acceleration WOT.
Don't know if that Dyna will meet California emissions. Congrats to Luke.
CARB can suck it!
love them both but would love the Softail set free and tuned....
That TBR sounds nasty. I’m going to have to get one when my warranty is up.
Thanks for the video... a lot of information... Question you are in what state??
Twin cam sounds so much better than the new M8's. But ride quality on the new softails is phenomenal 👌 throw an fp3 on your softail. The tune will definitely give it a little more 😉
A fp3? What’s that
@@dylancoric1194fuel pak it’s a plug in tuner but the dyno vision power tuner is the best flash tuner you can get imo
Not going to lie, pretty happy about the Dyna winning the races.
Although I do like the “gold” so much more on the softail over the dyna.
Same
Ahhh yeahhhh my style of video🔥🔥🔥 killed it good job
You should try adding a shifting POV !
Especially when full pull
The Dyna 100S motor has a SE355 cam from the factory. The M8 114S has a stick cam. This makes a big difference in power band d especially how far the torque extends through the range. Block needs a cam upgrade. I put the SE “Torque” cam kit in my 114 and it makes a HUGE difference.
This Dyna is a great bike though. I wish I had won it.
I mean “110S” in the first sentence, and “stock” in the second.
Is the stage 2 torque cam make a difference? Didbyou have it dyno tuned or not yet? I'm thinking of doing this. Thanks
@@jcollins2826 thanks for the info! It sounds like I would enjoy it! I'm going to go ahead and do it.
Heyyy it me am back lol. Got me fxdb inlove with it. Question the shield glass yall Got, does it let you drive smooth at 80+ mph in windy day or does it wabble due to high speed + wind?
Luke! Use the force Luke. Congrats on winning the bike bro. Remember what they said, respect the bike or it won't respect you.
FXR wasn’t even a dyna. Some dynaholic you are! ;)
Don't ever call an FXR a dyna ever again
Both bikes are absolutely stunning... but deffo the Softail, because of the refinement of it, can't wait to get one!! Great Vid as always @blockhead
You guys are having way too much fun .
Congratulations Luke. What a bike. Block whats the exhaust system on the 2020. I couldn't hear for some reason. Ill blame age.
Got my 2022 FXRLS! LOVE IT!
Torn between the two right now.. can’t seem to make my mind up!
Nice vid Block keep ‘em coming
