The picture at 1:24 is similar to what I’m doing. Something about the dark masculine works so well with western. I’m envisioning “cigar bar” with warm woods, dark paint, leathers and fur. Thanks for the video! Great content
Omg! I've been looking for you for a while. Finally, a man that knows how to design for a man! Quickly liked and subscribed! I will be binge-watching your videos all weekend! 🙌
If you can't paint your room another way is to put curtains over the walls. It also adds dimension. Or those partition panel walls are also an easy alternative.
I would say either! This is a good question but not as simple of an answer as it may seem. It would depend on what color scheme and interior features you already have in the room. If you have a purely black and white room with a bunch of neutral, grayscale furniture, then color in your artwork could be a very nice touch of life. If you have a lot of greens/woods/blues/nature's colors already in your scheme, I would lean more towards black and white or texturized material art (metals, stone, wood carving, marble, etc). It's all about balance and there is no exact right or wrong answer. Just want to create harmony.
@@ChaudryGhafoor right now we are starting from scratch. We used Inkwell Sherwin Williams paint which is dark gray with a hint of blue tones in it. I've purchased a lighter leather couch. I'll likely buy a wood desk, cow rug, and some animal skulls to hang on the wall. My wife is getting some greens as well for my office. Sounds like based on your last comment we should lean towards some black and white art (I'm thinking Muhammad Ali, Lions, Scarface, etc.) Thoughts? Thanks for the help and video!
@@austinlharris That sounds awesome bud! I think that direction for the artwork will work out nicely based on the backdrop of colors you're working with.
I share my study space with my wife occasionally (enough to consider her in the design!). There are existing white walls…getting a darker bookcase and other furnishings could give a similar effect right?
Any tips if I can't paint my walls? Room is white with light hardwood. I feel like this aesthetic wouldn't work like that. I really wish I could paint it forest green :(
Absolutely! Two options: 1. Peel and stick wallpaper. Cheap and can be found on amazon or local wallpaper/paint store. 2. Use dark accents. Black lamps, dark desk, deep green plants, wood sculptures, forest green photos/posters, gold light fixtures/paper weights/desk ornaments (I'm just spitting out ideas here and you'll need to put these together in a way that looks good, but the point is that the room itself can be light, while the items you put in the room are dark)

Hey bud - I don't see why not. If you mixed the two, you would probably end up having a dark, smoky green color. Ask the paint shop to mix the two and give you a sample swab. Then you can take that home and see how it looks in your room.
@@ChaudryGhafoor Okay great awesome I was going to do Hunter Green on three walls and then use the Grey for the 4 wall. I'm not going to put up Blinds and Use the Reflector Tinting so no one can see into the office from the outside
@@GangstaNerd Oh I see what you're saying now. You would use the Grey as an accent wall and the rest Hunter Green. If you're going that route, I would have more contrast between the colors or not do it at all. I like to use the darker of the two colors for the accent wall... It seems more visually appealing. Usually accent walls are paired with 3 white walls or very light gray walls... You might want to stay away from combining two dark colors in one room.
You certainly could! I would add a design element though so it doesn't turn into a void of darkness. An interesting lighting fixture, tray ceilings, some sort of variation to create contrast so that you're still able to see the height of the ceiling. Also depends on the peaked ceiling style. Is the ceiling a cathedral style where it rises to the center? Is it slanted and rises to one side? Is the whole ceiling raised flat across?
Thank you for replying! It is a vaulted ceilings cathedral style rising to the center. It’s a room originally intended to be a sun room, but we would like to make it into an office instead. Because of the many windows, I figured it would be the perfect room to paint in a dark color and give it that moody feel. I am just unsure of what it would look like since I was planning on keeping the ceiling white. I was also thinking about painting the built in shelves we are getting the same color as the walls. Thoughts?
