This was a great makeover, I bet it's way nicer to "go to work" when your home office looks like that and anyone you zoom meet with is probably green with envy.
Finally, something original !! Your taste is thoughtful, unique, and beautifully thought-out. Would love to see a living room designed by you in the future!
Coming soon! Guess we'll do some work downstairs. We finished our house build a while back - you can check our whole series. Def more work to do in the living room now tho!
Thank you! I wish more people would breakdown the cost. It gives viewers who are interested in even part of your office a better idea of what it takes to achieve that look and how to best budget renovations and prioritize what might get done first. thank you!
Looks fantastic! I would not have thought of painting those Kallax shelving units! The floating shelves are amazing. And I'm impressed... you have LIVE plants. Most of these videos contain fake plants.
Thanks Tracy. Nothing I love more than real plants. The really warm up the place. Kallax shelves weren't the easiest to paint. They're holding up well but I would recommend a deep scuff and primer before. Thanks for watching.
This just popped back up on my feed. I actually painted my office this color based on your video. Obviously video doesn't always do it justice and lighting is different in every room but mine is more of a green/blue dark teal color but brighter like it has gray in it. Yours almost looks like a dark emerald green. Mine also look horrible on camera. Everyone asks me if I painted my room black and I always look totally washed out. In short I love your room but I wish I had just went with an emerald green.
From the makeover design to the video editing, this is all around some great content. Keep up the good work and your subscriber count will go up in no time. Well done!
Thank you! It's called thalo night from Valspar. We had it color matched by Sherwin Williams because we have an account with them and like the quality of their paint.
Thanks JL! I think that's what actually started me on this whole thing. I had seen a few alcoves with built-ins that I really liked and I wanted to try to emulate that look without necessarily boxing it all out with lumber and new drywall. I find that painting the ceiling helps make it feel like one contained space. I designed the rest after that. Worst case if we sell the house (not that we're planning to) but someone could just unscrew everything and repaint. Thanks for watching.
Hi. I just saw this office build. Great job. I really like how you built the shelves. I also love the colour. You mentioned it was Sherwin-williams but I don't think you mentioned the colour. Are you able to share what the colour name is? Thanks.
What software did you use to 3D plan it? Also, the video was well made! All I would say is to make sure the volume of the music stays with the volume of your voice, sometimes it was too loud.
First time viewer, great work! Can you share some info on the wall art you have in your office - it looks like something made with newspapers or magazine cutouts?
It's part of my girlfriends masters thesis. It's a map of montreal printed on a piece of plywood with a whole bunch of finishing nails to connect string to. Had to do with how we experience cities around us. She will be happy someone asked about it! Thanks
@@lifeluxury3081 Hey! Thank you. This was all filmed on a canon sl2 DSLR. All my wide shots are with a 10-18mm Canon lens. All the closeups were done with the Canon 50mm nifty fifty. There might be a few shots in there with the 18-55mm. All my new vids were shot on the Iphone 12 Pro. There are some pros and cons - it's not as nice as the crispy beautiful look of the 50mm from the DSLR but the wide shots and timelapse modes are awesome. The 4K adds a nice level of crispness to the vids. Also great to not have to carry my camera bag back and forth to construction sites.
Sorry I'm a bit late to respond. Hope it worked out. All I can say is take your time. Sanding and filling is the most boring part but it ends up giving you the best result in the end!
Thank you! I can't remember the stain, sorry! The label had ripped off so no product info. Was purchased here: randalls.ca/ - you can check out the stains they carry.

Yea sorry. It is actually whitewood - I think whitewood is a laminated mix of spruce and pine that's also shelving from home depot. It's all off the shelf stuff, that table top is 16" and the solid pine that depth is much more expensive.

I really love the green and the stain. But damn that would have looked amazing with simple white and pine as well. Great design!
Thanks!
Wow! Love the dark green.
Thank you! Cheers!
So nice to see a home without knockdown walls and ceilings!
Thank you! much appreciated.
looks amazing and the costs are totally ok. Other desks alone costs like 700 USD. So you made a great design and smart decisions.

I remembered this one 2 years ago. You did an awesome job on this built in. The entire office setup is amazing

What do you like to use for the 3D Design / modeling ?
Sketchup with VRAY for renders.
No matter the cost, it was DIY and you did the work, and it looks great

I can’t find any comments on what color paint you used and brand. Looks like a dark green and so pretty
Please share dets on the paint
I forget off the top of my head but I responded to some comments with the exact color.
Beautiful! Greetings from Perú, the land of the Machu Pichu.

The paint colour looks great. Please share the paint colour code.

Name is slipping my mind but I covered it in other comments a bunch of times. Shouldn't be hard to find. Thank a lot for watching!
Looks great
What color and finish did you use?
Hi Shaun, answer is in the comments somewhere. I believe it's Thalos Night.
Honestly the best looking office I have seen. I actually have a similar open space I’m looking to do the same thing. Thank you for a great video.
Wow, thank you! Go for it. It's just a bit of paint and some shelving! Good luck.
It looks fabulous. Did you always know you were going to extend the color out on the walls and ceiling, or what led you to that decision?
Thanks JL! I think that's what actually started me on this whole thing.
