Do This First:
To get the most out of your recording or streaming space, I recommend sound treatment including acoustic absorption panels. This is the single biggest way to improve your audio before investing in other gear. You can make your own, or I highly recommend GIK Acoustics as they manufacture some of the best quality panels available at an excellent value.

Man the level of production of your videos is amazing, look at that crazy setup behind you. Great job, you always posts fun stuff.
Very much appreciated and I'm really glad to hear you're enjoying my videos! Making and sharing them is a lot of fun for me!
Thanks so much for making this! Helped a lot
Glad to help out, Cheers!
Dr "T": Very nice vid. Way above my level of understanding, but you have a good thing going. The production of your vids are so professional as well as informative. I do own an older Mackie V1604. Used it for outside gigs off the patio. Getting a better understanding of this equipment through your channel. Thanks Again!! jr ✌♥️
Glad you enjoyed the comparison Doc John! That Mackie you have is some very well built gear. Bands have been lugging them around for years and they are reliable and great sounding boards - hang on to that one. I could see a nice recording/mixing rig with the V1604 and an interface with some good IO like a Scarlett 18i20... As always, my pleasure to help out!👍
Just what i was looking for
Glad to help out!
How did you get her vocals to sound so sweet and clear what type of Reverb plug-in what Mic and the processing sound so wonderful
Glad you liked the vocals. I didn't record them for this mix so I'm not 100% sure which mic was used but it sounds like a FET condenser to me. I used the Softube TSAR-1R reverb on this. Cheers!
The Neve 73 sounds fuller richer wider every time
I wanted to like them both equally for different reasons, but I must admit, I preferred the 1073 every time.
I find them both very useful, but there is still something special after all these years about the character of the 1073 inductor EQ...
I have been having a hard time deciding whether or not these two EQs sound different just because the chosen frequency bands available are different, or because somehow the “circuit” sounds different - like they do in real life.
So far I think yes, in the bands that they share there are some audible differences, but I haven’t scoped them out to see if that is only due to the Q-width or not.
Even if they are nothing more than a regular old digital EQ with a fancy GUI, they are both VERY EFFECTIVE equalizers.
Sometimes it is the LIMITATIONS of a restricted number of available bands and Q-widths that makes things sound good.
WHY? because they prevent us from accessing certain filter settings and frequencies that are likely to sound either “Bad” or at least “less good”.
I'm with you 100%. I still prefer turning dials (even better when they are stepped) and sliding faders. I know it seems counterintuitive to many, but I find it much easier to get the sound I am looking for with fewer options and I find the natural compression and saturation of analog hardware gets me closer to the finished product with less processing required. I remember when mixing through a desk with a few outboard compressors, eq's, and a couple of reverbs just sounded good... Cheers!
Awesome
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
I have both of these plug-ins. Both are very good, but I definitely prefer Neve (1066) over API.
Thanks for the comparison 👍🏻
Thanks, I hoped the comparison might be interesting. I like the Neve sound as well, but I have to hand it to API, there are times when API compression and EQ are a perfect fit. We are very fortunate to have many subtle and not so subtle choices available!
A lot of saturation on the 1073...
