9:32 - It's not in code. You can clearly read it... Or at least read part of it. Maybe some words are not clearly understandable because of Cleo's handwriting but it's definitely not written in code. I don't believe Kim was just looking at the drawings. We see her reading the pages in previouse scene's. If I could read at least one page of this diary that was shown on screen and understand what's there, then Kim could that too. She can't be that stupid to just look at drawings and think:
"Hmm! I can't understand what my sister is writting about but I see mermaid doodles. Oh, look! More mermaid doodles! Then she must be a mermaid! Hm! Let's look at some doodles for longer time to pretend I'm reading but I'll just look at some doodles."
