I remember at my school there were superficial kids who cared about tops and bottoms and the rest and somehow the hottest girls where in the second group, the first one were people with issues.
I’m guessing the only reason Cleo isn’t popular is because she’s shy and introverted, usually the popular kids tend to be more outgoing. And rikki is more of a tomboy which didn’t really fit with the “aesthetics” of the popular girls during that time period. Emma isn’t necessarily unpopular, she’s well liked and has a lot of friends, like the girls in the slumber party episode.
