What a wonderful reenactment! I loved every part of it! I can’t believe that happened to the MG-42. A good history organization would definitely take responsibility over something this severe. My heart about broke in half to watch and hear the story. I cannot believe these people that said this things and decided to just touch and manhandle your priceless property. I hope that all goes well in the end. Fare well! God bless, P.S. Sorry I ranted but I can’t believe this. I love your videos and they give me a lot of perspective and intelligence about history. Keep it up!
I used to re-enact ACW in the UK and even took part in the 150th Gettysburg event in 2013. When I did my UK events, these were usually multi-period, so all sort were there. It pains me to see the reaction to your equipment, and more so to you, who deeply love the whole re-enacting vibe. I did think you could have worn your zeltban to help with the rain
I used to be a re-enactor but I packed it in because of this sort of thing. Too many morons not taking care with stuff & being just plain dangerous. The final straw for me was nearly being run over by a Jeep whose driver simply wasn't looking where he was going. I hope you can get things sorted out.

I dont think its really about the value but more about the historical value a the fact that it survived the war a got destroyed by some idiots... Thats just sad.
My heart absolutely stopped as soon as I saw them running over your mg42.. Absolutely un professional by the event organisers.. Full insurance coverage should be done for proof of damage when you was not at fault.. Shameful on there behalf. I hope things are sorted. Thanks for the video.
@14:52 You have video footage of your mg42 getting run over and the video footage looks legit it's not like you faked it happening and edited your position in alignment with the path of the vehicle to make it look like it was ran over or something ridiculous like that regardless of what anyone else wants to claim.
My heart goes with yours Nick, because I would have reacted exactly like you did not only during the accident, surely both disheartened and furious, but also following the depressing escalation of those discussions, messagges, offences and overall disrespect. You're the one that made me starting metaldetecting and with whom I share reenactment as a true passion, including therein desire for a better reenactment community. I'm currently studying law, although in Italy, but I can guarantee that this kind of lawsuit, regardless of the system, ends up being more costly than the actual (dear) MG42 damage value. You undertook to do the best action at your disposal given the legal situation, namely showing these cowards to the public for what they really are. May you take at least partially comfort in knowing there are people that despite having never seen eachother still do care about respective experiences. I really hope to meet you one day, and in the meantime stay strong!

Love the moment after you waited for the battle to start when you man your MG42 with Bert crouched next to you, both with big smiles for the coming battle, as an artillery shell explodes behind you. But I’m sad to see and hear what they did to your MG42, and how unprofessional and ignorant they acted about the situation. It gives me a feeling of injustice. Love your videos, all the best, Nick!
firstly always love your content. secondly I hate to see someone like yourself that takes such pride and care for the items, gear, and weapons for someone to come along and destroys not only property but such a great piece of history. I really hope this works out for you and they turn around and make this right for you as they should have done for the beginning.
Nick, I’m so sorry to learn about what happened to your MG. I own a few expensive road bikes and get so upset when the bikes receive even the smallest of scratches and chips on the frames. So, I can kind of relate to your distress, when something so precious and sentimental is damaged. But I can’t imagine the amount of hurt and sadness you must have felt here, witnessing your precious gun being damaged like this. And then to have to go through the horrible aftermath, trying to talk to those responsible, to sort things out, only to be absolutely blanked and victimised. It’s heart-breaking to see, what you’ve had to go through. It’s even worse that these people are fellow reenactors with a similar hobby as yourself. They should know better, and should have treated you much, much better, with simple manners and respect. I agree with you, the unsympathetic way they’ve acted, it is admission of guilt. To blank you, is their way of fleeing the crime scene. They are now on the run from their crimes! Those responsible, even the people who run the re-enactment, it is coming across like they are a bunch of cowboys who don’t really plan or operate things properly and certainly couldn’t careless about their fellow reenactors. Plans should be in place for incidents like this, to investigate accidents, properly, when they happen, to listen to peoples concerns, so lessons can be learned, and incidents never happen again, and going forward, the experience improved for everyone taking part. The fact that this group hasn’t done that, doesn’t have this default response to incidents, in place, says a lot about them as an organisation. For you to not receive any help or support from the people who organised this event, it is just as bad, as unsympathetic as the guy driving the vehicle. Watching your footage during the attack, I would have grave concern how this re-enactment group operates. I got this uneasy feeling soon as I seen that US vehicle rolling past, so close to the camera, stopping feet from you, lying on the ground. I’m an F1 fan and it immediately made me think back to the 2013 Canadian Grand Prix, where, just after the race, a big-wheeled tractor/ recovery crane was carrying a broken-down car back to the pits. Marshals were walking along side and in front of the crane. One of the marshals dropped his radios and slipped over trying to recover it, and very tragically, the crane ran over the marshal lying on the ground. Due to the big wheels and the car hanging down from the front of the crane, the driver couldn’t see the marshal on the ground and ran over him. As soon I seen you lying there and this large-wheeled vehicle approaching, it brought back memories of that event. To have such big vehicles operating so close to reenactors, some possibly lying on the ground, playing dead, so they would have their eyes closed, it is surely a major safety issue? I’m not a great fan of modern-day health & safety, think it has gone too far, but surely operating such large-wheeled vehicles so close to people, and people having to play dead, is a safety issue? And for the crew of the vehicle to say, on their way back, they couldn’t see your gun, wow, that so easily could have been a human lying there. Horrific to think about. The fact the driver couldn't see your gun on the ground, highlights how compromised visibility is in that particular vehicle. Horrific to think that gun could have been a person. But I think this re-enactment group need to think hard about health & safety and how they operate and incorporate vehicles during a re-enactment battle. A precious gun was badly damaged by careless, almost reckless driving, but it so easily could have been so much worse, and a person, instead of the gun, being run over instead. It’s absolutely heart-breaking to see what you’ve had to go through, both with the damage to your gun, but also the way you’ve since been treated. I hope you are able to get your MG fixed and I hope you are able to receive some sort of compensation for the damage and also for the appalling way you’ve been treated, even if it’s only the bare minimum, a simple apology. Keeping my fingers crossed for you. Please don’t let what’s happened dent your enthusiasm and passion for re-enactment. You are an inspiration to many. Keep up the great work!

Sorry to see this. Don't give up already, only because it's Belgium. They are an advanced law state, which has to have solutions for proofed cases like this. In Europe there has to be an owner behind the car plate, which could be judged. Maybe the company where you are insured could advise. In Germany you could request at any lawyer. The first consulting on the phone will be free, if it goes into detail and you are not insured it will get expensive of course. I hope you have some "private legal protection".
My favorite weapon that I've never touched is the MG-42. To watch one, of matching numbers, get demolished? It hurts. The whole series leading up to here, I was worried what was going to happen... When I saw that M20 driving over the MG, I gasped audibly. This was painful for me (not the owner of the weapon) to watch. Though I believe that you're in the right here, Nick, I know that everything is going to be problematic to take care of. I'd dare say your community backs you. If you can tell us how to contribute toward getting the gun repaired, I'd even be willing to chip in. History deserves preservation! Also, I hope this reenactment group can be held to higher standards at some point. That's not cool that they're not worried about this incident happening.

Hi Nick I am devastated for you as I have been watching your videos for the past 4 years and I have a small collection myself I can’t believe they just made you have to go through all of this. If you need support we’re here!
Fare well! God bless,
Sad to hear that... Yes, people like this really ruin it for others! Some people just simply don't care.. It's dangerous behavior, and should not be tolerated!
I am a civil war re-enactor and I want to get out all the time because of this bs the drama and ignorance is awful
@@jackdupont1883 what kind of stuff happens? Since there aren't any jeeps or trucks in civil war reenactments.
i'm from Spain re-enactor from spanish civil war. Last week a tank almost kills a team member. But on this case it was the persons blame.
@@sam8404 but then there is the good part of reenacting when you find the right and the toxic when’s leave and it’s just great camaraderie and fellowship and great history $
It really hurts my soul when historical artefacts gets broken or destroyed. I hope you have managed to save it.
I really enjoy your channel. Keep up the good work.
From a danish, historical correct, history teacher.
sorry about the worst of it, but you tried and succeeded to make the best of it for the video!!! it looks great and you are also such a good actor, sorry this happend to you nick, But better luck the next reenactment! it looks good and i cant wait to watch the rest 4:43
Me *wakes up* *looks at notifications* YES PART 3
Edit: Great video Nick keep up the great work! RIP MG42. Happy late thanksgiving
Dont let them kind of people get to your head!We all as a community are here to help !
that moment when they drove over your mg42, I almost had a heart attack. I don't have an mg42 in my collection, although I would like to, but I know what it's like when someone does damage to you, especially on more expensive items. You have my support. greetings from Croatia.
Thanks for the support, I totally agree!!
This is a really unfortunate situation. I can’t believe they treated Nick like that, they really acted like children.
I only recently started watching but I saw how kind and pure he is, I feel so bad for him.
So sorry to hear this has happend to you. I was shocked to watch and hear you talk about this. I can't believe it.
Been watching your videos for a couple years now and love them all. I hope everything works out in your favor man.
I love your videos every time i watch one of your videos I get more inspired and motivated to pursuer my dreams to become a historian and I hope your MG 42 can be repaired.
Awesome video Nick! Im so sorry for the way they treated you and your personal objects..😕 Im gonna pray for your mg42!
firstly always love your content. secondly I hate to see someone like yourself that takes such pride and care for the items, gear, and weapons for someone to come along and destroys not only property but such a great piece of history.
Keep up the great work!
this is a big message
Videos are getting better each time good job.
Thanks for the compliment!
Thanks for these amazing video's Nick! Really like them!
I'm happy to hear that!!
@@History-Secrets im sad about your MG42 tho :( it hurts to see that
i love your videos Nick keep up the good work!
Wow this saddens me that this happened to you Nick. All my support to your future re-enactments an that this never happens again. Also I hope that MG42 gets fixed that’s such an important piece of history
Aah that even hurt my soul to watch, a great piece of history getting destroyed. Better luck next time Nick❤❤ Love your videos ❤❤
Love your channel and videos, such a shame the way they treated you and what happend to your mg-42, but at least you can say it's historically accurate damage
Dude…. I am so sorry for the loss of your gun, that was a priceless piece of history. I would be beside myself if something like that happened to me. At least you still have all of your other awesome antiques.
Right on my birthday! Thanks for this gift Nick! 😄
Happy Birthday!! 🎂🎉💐🎊🎁🍰🎈
@@History-Secrets i'm very sorry that this thing happend to you. As someone who has been following your channel for years now, i share your anger over that, and, as someone who aspires to be a reenactor aswell, i will be way more careful when accepting invites to events like that. Hope you get all the problems solved and keed your amazing work! And thanks for the happy birthday wishes! You're awesome!
It's sad to see Nick being treated like this :(
I agree
bro your epic you also have inspired me to make my own RUclips channel you have changed my life. Aslo that sucks that they lied to you because your a really nice person. Let's support nick!
That's so amazing to hear, I wish you the best of luck!! 😄
@@History-Secrets Thx some much also if anyone broke my MG42 I would freak out. hopefully your doing well love to Australia!
I can't believe that they kept driving after hitting the mg42, and the fact that the organization tried to blame you for it saying that you where not near the weapon. We're here to support you.
I was at a reenactment in the spring with some of my komrades, we were told to take positions on a small hill and that a Kubelwagen would be running from the Americans to our left. They even made us move from the left so we wouldn't be in the way. The next thing we know the Kubel was coming straight for going over the hill instead of to the left, luckily the 2 guys in the way got out in time. Be careful out there, miscommunication is really big in reenacting I find.
This hurt so much because every original gun from WW2 are getting rare i hate to see the damage to such a nice peace of history i hope you get it fixed a lot of Support from the Netherlands
You handled this situation very good. I would be out of my mind pissed off. That’s why I don’t want to join one of those reenactment groups. It’s good that you filmed the incident.
So sorry this happened to you Nick! Keep up the military history efforts.
I can’t believe that they did that to you, I hope it can all be sorted. It’s like they don’t know how expensive a REAL MG42 is!!
#supportnick
Those kinda people are up their own arses, shame on them. I'm really sorry this has happened to you Nick. I've been watching your vids for around 3 years now. I know how much you love and care for all the weapons and various items you own and the history behind them. It must be very frustrating. You have my support bro.
The lack of accountability is sad. I’ve had 3 people hit my truck and run! I enjoy your videos, and your passion shows! 👏🏽
You've got it on video, man. There is no way to deny that they hit your piece. Nay, your priceless artifact!
You'd think there'd be a mutual respect among people who own stuff like the M2 and your MG42, but assholery knows no bounds.
I'm really sad this happened to you!
It's not even the financial value of the weapon its the historical value that really makes me sad
and especially they wouldn't take responsibility to their actions.
So sorry to hear about this Nick.
" Realy bad impressions", you got em good on that one Nick
Mistakes always happen and the fact they didn't take it responsibly makes me mad :( that poor mg42 was really pricey hopefully it gets fixed sooner or later also god bless you're heart for reenacting
I don’t know how you still handle this professionally even after playing dead for a the whole damn battle in the rain soaked and have you most beautiful gun broken by dimwits I would have been throwing hands I have so much respect for you.
12:59 damn, i could see that Nick was about to start crying, i feel so bad and sorry for what happened, especially because i know the historic value of that MG42... I am so sorry Nick... I feel with you :(

finally part 3 has been uploaded im sorry for your mg 42 love your vids!
It sucks that they treated you like this man. Hope it hopefully gets resolved. My heart stopped when I seen the event happen
The explosion behind them Look like something from a movie it was cool and there faces made it cooler nice work guys I love this video keep it up 👍👌
My soul was deeply hurt when that M20 rolled over your MG… 246k people support you nick!
Ik hou van je video's.
Ik vindt het heel sneu van je mg42.
Ik support je enorm je bent een topper.
Ga zo door.

Because history has to be shared.
If that happened to me I would be absolutely pissed off. Sorry this happened Nick
Also Nick I would love to see you starting to do more videos in your trench and bunker
Rip in pieces Nick's MG-42
1943-2022
Thank you, Fartex.
1943, you can see it engraved on the MG
They sound like the kind of people that like to show boat at an event.......until they are held accountable then things change fast. The are probably politicians in their day job. As a collector ( also have an MG42) i feel your pain....taking priceless original artifacts out to reenactment is always going to be a risk......but life is a risk. Love watching your videos .
Thanks for your comment!
This is absolutely unacceptable! What a way to treat people who are giving up their time and money to volunteer for a re-enactment. Another excellent video bro
The absolute pain that went through me when it was ran over, I can’t imagine how much pain you’re going through.
Nick, I have your 100 percent support on this. If I was in your shoes, I would be SO mad at that group. You should have never go through this. And it was DEFINITELY not your fault. I wish the group was disbanded. I support you Nick!
Nick I am here for you, If this would've happened to be I would do probably worse. But you are very good with this stuff and I hope they pay back!
It's amazing you able to post more can you please keep it up 😊
Man i hope there are lawyers would accept and make a case about the damages from your mg42. Also your Mg42 is iconic though RIP😢
We are with you Nick! Stay strong and i am in pain from the MG42 specialy for original MG42 from ww2..
I can’t imagine how it must feel to have something like that be damaged, I hope you are able to get the MG repaired and back to the way it was. I also hope to see future reenactment videos that will not have similar issues.
When I saw the MG42 get broken I was mad at the person who was driving that vehicle and I support you
I am so sorry that happened to you I've watched your videos for a long time and it sucks because some people just don't give a damn about whose property they damage just know that I support you man
9:02 "At this point I became toothpaste. Historically correct."
My heart dropped when they ran over the mg42 that stuff is expensive that is rude they are so rude and disgusting hopefully you can get a new one sending support btw I love your content
In Greece when you are told as an reenactor to go on an event the organizers just are telling you that I don't have responsibility on anything and with that out of the way, many times when i come home i find my things broken or sometimes stolen. This is the case in our society, there is no one to take responsibility as real men
Yes, it's unbelievable... Really really sad!
@@History-Secrets @Metal Made John "no one to take responsibility as real men" sounds too true, TBH I'd hate to see what would've been the outcome of WWII or how the fate of the world would have ended back then, if no one was willing to step up and take responsibility as real men back during that time, and that's something the people who acted that way towards you over this should honestly stop and think about.
@@StevenCodeBlack yes my lad thats true but at the end of the day reenactors should be treated with respect. I put my money, my effort , my items, my collection and my time and in the other part no one cares or gives a shit about all the things i told. Thats the case here.
@@metalmadejohn7287 Yeah that's the unfortunate thing it doesn't seem like any of the people who were on that vehicle or the drivers, cared about or have any respect for the time money and effort Nick put into his MG42.
@@StevenCodeBlack thats something that is accurate for all reenactors but for now especially for Nick
I hope there is some way you can start a case on them or something, they should not be allowed to get away with it, and you have video proof that it was their fault. 😢
Big fan of your videos, hopefully this can get fixed 🙂. Good luck Nick 🙏🏻
Sad to hear this, I really hope you get it under control but otherwise very awesome video again!
Ok I watched it all now and I'm mad how they treated you, it's not right to DO what they did in the video!
When I saw the M20 hitting the MG42, I was like "No no no, you can not hit a original MG42" I mean that is disgusting saying against you about that, saying "We have a guy that can fix it"
I support Nick!
In the 11 years ive been re-enacting ive never seen such behavior. When people have made a mistake most of the time they have owned up to it. I hope that you get the MG42 fixed and works as it did before.
Nick, we are here for you. I am so sorry this happened. They are horrible for treating you so poorly. I am hoping other reenactors stop supporting that specific event.
Hi mark I am a big history nerd and when I watch this I found that so shocking that they ran over your mg44 I think that is huge problem I hope you get it fixed! PS by the way I watch all of your RUclips videos big fan and you and Desmond doss inspired me to do what I do with WW2 ,your fan cormac the
history nerd!
At least the damage is historically correct 👍 hope you get it sorted
The king is here!
when they drove past you the first time, i already got quite nervous with how close they were
the fact there's no rules regarding proximity of driving vehicles to reenactors in fixed positions is absurd
Next time they might drive over someone's head.....
Super vervelend voor je
Snap niet dat mensen zo kunnen zijn
Toch heb je er weer een leuke video van gemaakt
Ik hoop voor je dat alles eerlijk opgelost kan worden
