Father and Son time - to be savoured. I'm 71 been riding since I was 16. My son who is in his 50's and rode for several years now has the need to start motorcycling again. Can't wait to spend some quality time together doing motor cycle stuff. I commented on your previous theft videos that they prompted to buy a monimoto tracker and a hiplock for my BMW RT. Every day the monimoto txt me to say everything is good. I have no affiliation with the company and have never bothered with a tracker. But for £145 knowing exactly where the bike is is brilliant. Safe riding to you both.
Hi Gary, yes, father and son time is very precious and even better when it involves sharing the joy of motorcycles… I will look into that tracker for my next bike as it might have made all the difference if I had had one fitted to the last bike!
Steve I’m so pleased you were able to make a trip with your son after all your troubles. Well done for keeping buggering on! You inspired me after your Morocco trip to do my own adventure. I’m currently at the Nurburgring after covering 3500km. I went from Rotterdam down through the route des grand Alpes to Menton. Then back up through Switzerland and the Furka pass. I’m going back home today after an epic adventure, I have thoroughly enjoyed every minute. Thanks again Steve and keep the vids coming. I would like to see you restoring your DR and the Bonny 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🏁🏁
Hi Peter, thank you! I am so happy to read this… I absolute love it when I hear my own escapades have spurred others to create their own adventures too… Brilliant! Safe riding my friend, there are plenty more videos on the way! 😁
Happy to see you touring with your son. 😎👍 So many considerations re new motorcycle choice. Your history with BMW is pretty solid. My guess is if you switch brands it will be with regret at some point in the future. I can hear the admiration and longing in your voice Steve. Stick with a BMW. You’re truly a GS kinda guy. 😉😎👍
So nice your going to Inverness and Scotland in general. My great grandfather was an architect from Inverness. Designed many of the libraries. I so want to go but being retired, I think accommodations would be out of my budget. Retired Canadian Military and Municipal Police vet. Currently riding a NC750X.
I think Scotland is such a beautiful place, I never tire of visiting there. It would be such a nice thing to do if you could get yourself over there to check out the libraries your great grandfather designed… it would be a trip if a lifetime.
I’ll be honest Steve, the number of people who bang on about the lack of petrol stations on the NC 500 does my napper in. Thurso, Durness, Kinlochbervie, Scourie, Lochinver and of course Ullapool all have petrol stations Durness and Scourie are pay at the pump. Hopefully with your new GS ( that’s my guess on what you’ll buy) you’ll not have that anxiety in the months ahead They may not be 24hr opening. Can I just say I had the 1200 GSA which was a heavy beast as you know. I replaced it with a standard 1200GS and it was such a difference ok it didn’t have a 33ltr tank but I’ve never needed that range
Hi Norrie, yes, the fuel situation is far, far better than I was expecting! Having a much smaller tank on the Triumph got me needlessly worrying about it all. I must admit I am a sucker for a 33L tank…. The extended range was very useful in North Africa last year (at least it helped keep fuel anxiety down a bit).
Brilliant to see you out touring again Steve( and Ben ). The Triumph Bonnie isn’t a patch on the GSA but it’s got you biking again so that’s great. Enjoy your Scottish trip.
Absolutely fabulous! We took this road in August on route to Orkney getting the ferry at Gills Bay. ( you will love Orkney ) wishing yourself and Ben all the best 😊
Another great ride Steve, I hope to be up there next week. Petrol station, automated,at Durness, unless it’s closed since last year. Can’t wait to see your new bike.
I came across another you tuber who had his BMW nicked in Reims. I gather it's a common occurrence there. Good to see you out and about. I always wonder when I see houses in these isolated places what on earth the occupiers do for a living.
Some friends and I were only 4/5 days behind you. We saw all of the Harley’s leaving the show as we came along the A9 on the Monday (26th) on our way to Thurso. We got caught in a bit of rain here and there, but overall a great trip. Your trip looked great 👍🏼
Brilliant video Steve ably supported by Ben. Despite the previous circumstances in France which brought you both to Scotland, you are having a blast as they say riding the NC 500. Ride safe both of you and look forward to the next one. 👌👏👏🏍️🏴
Great video, as always. It's really great to see you back on the road with Ben. I'm actually in Thurso right now. Followed your tracks, without knowing it, even to the same petrol station! Weather, windy ans very cold but the views are absolutely majestic. Looking forward to the next one 😊
I should have been at Thunder in the Glens this year (on my Tiger 1200!) but a dose of covid put paid to that idea. Glad to see you back on the road Steve.
Hi Steve. i came across on another youtuber "bike like mike" he had exactly the same thing happen to him with his GS1250 stolen in about the same place as yours in France. Cheapest petrol today near me £1.29 litre for petrol. good vid btw
Steve great videos, ref your trip next year to Orkney. Myself & the wife we live in Perthshire we drove up to Scrabster got the ferry from there over to Stromness. 90 mins sailing & we spent 4 nights on a campsite just outside of Kirkwall . Orkney Caravan Park at the Pickaquoy Centre the campsite is immaculate. loads of amenities near by.
Another great one Steve and Ben. The Scottish weather has been kind to you. I'm wondering if you have your new bike yet. Looking forward to seeing what you get.
Excellent video have done the Highlands for over 30years also most of Europe you made me want to get back up there Thankyou very much look forward to year trip down the west coast. You can pick up fuel in tounge so don't worry ride safe
Must do this trip but i tend to head south as I love getting out of the UK😂 I know you love the GS and it is a great bike, but I think it would add value and additional interest to the channel if you went for something different. I watch for travel content as iam not a GS fan. I watch other channels for the bike and the travel and imagine many others do as well. Just something to consider. Either way I'll be watching you as I love your trips👍
I can heartily suggest a Honda NC750X to replace your stolen bike. 100mpg Frunk to store your helmet Honda reliability So ugly nobody wants to steal them Cheap as chips to buy Get a choice of manual or automatic Light and easy to handle Great riding position
Hi Steve. Great vlog. Im glad you and your son are doing a mini tour. Also happy your doing Scotland again. Im doing the Isle of Skye next spring and surrounding areas 😊
The thing is you have just proved as I did that a GS or big adventure bikes are not the only bikes suitable for these trips I have done it on the 125 Super Cub and a Rebel 1100 both loaded with camping gear and one my own, preparation is the key to a successful trip. If you use Google maps you can plan out your fuel stops as I did when I did the trip on my Super Cub 125 June 22 which only has a small tank, there are at least six fuel stops between Thurso and Ullapool be warned you need a debit card at the un manned fuel stops and they also use ANPR so the bike must be road legal with a proper readable plate or no fuel.
Awsome video as always steve. Do you have a patreon account that us subscribers could help out with channel running costs and can buy you coffee and cake. All the best on you're adventures. Ride safe
Claim the money back through Visa or Mastercard. Make them prove they would be out of pocket if they refunded you. You are not receiving a thing due to a good reason. Visa will push for goodwill.
I did this last year on my enfield bullet 500 and it piissed of rain the whole way the last 20 miles the sun came out bloody typical What a ride though think my butt still suffers from it yet.

Absolutely fabulous! We took this road in August on route to Orkney getting the ferry at Gills Bay. ( you will love Orkney ) wishing yourself and Ben all the best 😊
Thank you! I’m already getting excited about my Orkney/Shetland trip. Just my kind of touring 😊
Another great ride Steve, I hope to be up there next week.
Petrol station, automated,at Durness, unless it’s closed since last year.
Can’t wait to see your new bike.
Thank you! Have a great trip if you make it up there. New bike coming together nicely - hopefully a video about it in a couple of weeks… 😊
Might head up myself, weather looks to be improving next week.
I came across another you tuber who had his BMW nicked in Reims. I gather it's a common occurrence there.
Good to see you out and about. I always wonder when I see houses in these isolated places what on earth the occupiers do for a living.
That looked like a lovely day's riding
It was a great day’s ride 😊
Glad to see u back on the road again especially where im from as i love going to the west coast on my bike :)
Thanks for the video Steve brought back good memories,
Glad to see you smile again and enjoy.
Great to see you both enjoying Scotland after the awful experience in France, looking forward to the next one.

Great vid Steve keep going and hope you enjoyed the trip with your son 🙏👍
Thank you! 😊
Glad your trip is turning out so good especially since a week ago it looked so bleak, the scenery is beautiful.
Thank you! 😊
Brilliant video Steve ably supported by Ben. Despite the previous circumstances in France which brought you both to Scotland, you are having a blast as they say riding the NC 500. Ride safe both of you and look forward to the next one. 👌👏👏🏍️🏴
Thank you! Yes, we are really enjoying beautiful Scotland. 😊
Great video, as always. It's really great to see you back on the road with Ben. I'm actually in Thurso right now. Followed your tracks, without knowing it, even to the same petrol station! Weather, windy ans very cold but the views are absolutely majestic.

Hi Jane, thank you! The weather can be brutal but the views more than make up for it… Have a great trip! 😊
Great trip by the looks of it you seem to attract the rain , keep it up
Thanks! The rain certainly seems to follow me around! 😂
nice video, great views , and 10 hours ride on a naked bike in windy conditions that must have been tiring.
Thank you… I knew I’d done it by the time we stopped!
I should have been at Thunder in the Glens this year (on my Tiger 1200!) but a dose of covid put paid to that idea. Glad to see you back on the road Steve.
Thank you, it’s great to be back on two wheels! So sorry to hear you missed Thunder In The Glenn’s due to Covid, I hope you are feeling better now…
Thanks for another good entertaining video real world travel information by real world travellers keep up the good work mike and wendy two oaps
Hi Mike and Wendy, thank you! 😊
Hi Steve. i came across on another youtuber "bike like mike" he had exactly the same thing happen to him with his GS1250 stolen in about the same place as yours in France. Cheapest petrol today near me £1.29 litre for petrol. good vid btw
Hi Paul, thank you. Yes, I’ve heard about that. £1.29… wow! I’ve not seen that yet, fingers crossed I will soon.
So it looks like another GS for next year's GS challenge then 👍😁
Might be….. !😉😂
Great video Steve, love Aviemore. Safe travels
Thank you! 😊

Hi Gordon, thank you for the info, I will be planning the trip before too long so it’s great to receive tips like this! 😊

Thanks Arch, I’m so happy to have still got away with Ben and yes, Scotland has got it going on! 😊
Another great one Steve and Ben. The Scottish weather has been kind to you. I'm wondering if you have your new bike yet. Looking forward to seeing what you get.
Hi Brian, thank you, glad you enjoyed it. The new bike is coming together nicely and hopefully there will be a shopping/reveal video in a few weeks! 😊
Excellent video have done the Highlands for over 30years also most of Europe you made me want to get back up there Thankyou very much look forward to year trip down the west coast. You can pick up fuel in tounge so don't worry ride safe
Thanks Roddy, yes the fuel situation is much better than I first thought! 😊
Dunno where you’ve been in Scotland but have just got back from touring West coast and there are loads of fuel stations. Enjoy your trip 😎
Must do this trip but i tend to head south as I love getting out of the UK😂

Yes, lots to consider… thank you for your continued support, I’m so glad you enjoy the videos! 😊
Good to see your son got back from the EU by himslf successfully.😊
Great vlog as usual… can I ask does Ben find his Triumph vibe at all
Thanks, just asked him and he says it’s a bit vibey through the saddle…!
I can heartily suggest a Honda NC750X to replace your stolen bike.
100mpg
Frunk to store your helmet
Honda reliability
So ugly nobody wants to steal them
Cheap as chips to buy
Get a choice of manual or automatic
Light and easy to handle
Great riding position
I agree with all but "Ugly"? I think they look smart, so do BMW.
I will have to take a look…
Merci !
Thank you! 😊
You guys need some comms 😊
You’re not wrong! But that’s technology to deal with!! 😂
Hi Steve. Great vlog. Im glad you and your son are doing a mini tour. Also happy your doing Scotland again. Im doing the Isle of Skye next spring and surrounding areas 😊
Hi Dan, thanks! Skye is particularly beautiful, you’ll have a great trip. 😊
The thing is you have just proved as I did that a GS or big adventure bikes are not the only bikes suitable for these trips I have done it on the 125 Super Cub and a Rebel 1100 both loaded with camping gear and one my own, preparation is the key to a successful trip. Absolutely! Any bike can be an adventure bike and the perfect bike to do a tour on is the one you currently own!
Awsome video as always steve. Do you have a patreon account that us subscribers could help out with channel running costs and can buy you coffee and cake. All the best on you're adventures. Ride safe
Thanks Dean, I’m so glad you enjoyed it! I don’t have a patreon account but there is a. Buy Me A coffee link on the channel home page… Thanks! 😊
I Know it is too late now, there is a self serve petrol station at Durness opposite the Spar shop on the main road.
Thanks Craig! There seems to be far more availability than I thought at first 😊
Quite a few petrol places across the top, so Ulapool is inaccurate.
Ok, thanks for putting me straight. 😊
Alchemy trying to tighten a 'side mirror' oh dear....
Yes, l dont blame son for wanting a break from leading.
Let's hope and pray Scotland isn't the bike stealing capital of the world. It's always good to keep an eye on everything, ride safe guys
Only in Edinburgh and surrounding area.
Thanks Terry! 😊

I did this last year on my enfield bullet 500 and it piissed of rain the whole way the last 20 miles the sun came out bloody typical
What a ride though think my butt still suffers from it yet.
It’s a fantastic ride… I think wet weather is pretty much a given! Cool to do on the RE… 😊
Why not invest in a fuel bag ? The rain follows you everywhere Lock the bikes always just saying even if you can see them just saying
Nice one Steve, great advice about the fuel station situation as im off to do the NC500 myself this coming Thursday.
Look forward to the next episode.
